Ian Quincy said, "Cecilia discovered it. Our ancestors had nothing to do with it."
Jim Quincy asked with great interest, "Cecilia, how did you discover it?" Old Mr. Shaw had told him that if Cecilia were a Shaw, she'd have been sent to join the army.
Titus Shaw had said she had a gift for martial arts—it was just a pity no one had taught her, so she'd missed the best window for training.
But apparently, she could handle his son like it was nothing.
He'd even told Jim to make sure his own boy stayed in line.
Cecilia explained, "Those of us from the mountains do a lot of hunting, so we tend to be more alert. I woke up as soon as I smelled the smoke. I just thought they were cooking and asked Ian to remind them to close their window. Who would've thought they'd end up setting the house on fire just by making some food? Back home, you can't live in a house after it's been in a fire. We live upstairs... we won't be in any danger, will we?"
