Felix Flynn snatched his hand back in alarm. Turning his head, he was met with Cecilia Adler's ambiguous smile. His knees went weak and a chill shot down his spine. "B-… Big Sis." The moment the words were out, he knew it was a mistake. Vivian Lee had told him Cecilia's mother had been an unchaste woman who'd climbed the social ladder to give birth to her.
She had nothing to do with his father-in-law.
After her biological father had taken her back, she had proactively cut all ties with them to prove her loyalty to him.
And now, he'd actually run into her on the street.
'He wasn't coming back to Esterly ever again.'
Cecilia Adler pushed her bike forward. "What are you up to?"
"Nothing." Felix Flynn held out his hands, palms open, to show Cecilia he wasn't stealing anything.
Cecilia's eyes swept over him, and she grinned brightly. "I hear you and Vivian Lee got married. Instead of working hard and earning money to give her a good life, what are you doing wandering the streets?"
