Jessie Sterling lay in bed, her back to Victor Morgan.
"Give me some time," she said.
She was responding to Victor Morgan's earlier suggestion that they go to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow morning.
'She hadn't made up her mind yet.'
Keeping it or not—for Jessie Sterling, both were equally difficult choices.
Victor Morgan hummed in agreement. "Okay. Just tell me whenever you decide." He hugged Jessie from behind. In his arms, she seemed to curl up into a small ball, and his chest could almost completely envelop her.
"Don't overthink it." Victor Morgan leaned close to Jessie's ear and whispered, "Go to sleep. It's getting late."
Because she'd gone to bed so late, Jessie Sterling didn't wake up until noon the next day.
"Why didn't you wake me?" Jessie got out of bed, glanced at the time, and couldn't help but ask Victor Morgan, who was still in the room.
Victor Morgan replied, "You didn't have anything to do anyway. I figured you should sleep in if you wanted to."
