Chapter 182 - Chapter 180

180 Ultimate Fusion, Bibi Dong Re-enlightens Rakshasa

Yu Xiaogang deliberately tugged at his collar, putting on the air of a born teacher.

He also had several attendant servants ready tea and desserts—what he considered proper etiquette.

Then Tang San arrived, not by carriage but riding the wind, alighting mid-air.

He wore regal purple robes that proclaimed his status as a god-king, looking every bit the part.

"Sorry, Grandmaster; I've been busy founding the Tang Sect and couldn't get away. Now that I've carved out a moment, here I am."

Tang San's tone brimmed with reverence, his smile dazzling.

Yu Xiaogang chuckled along, boasting, "You're now the Heaven-Sovereign of the God Realm, simultaneously holding the posts of Asura God-King and Evil God-King while overseeing countless affairs in Douluo's mortal World. It's only natural you're busy. As your teacher, I'm deeply proud."

"Haha, why so formal, teacher? And so flowery in speech."

Tang San was easy-going by nature, yet Yu Xiaogang still felt constrained.

The gap in their current status was obvious; Tang San's courtesy only made Yu Xiaogang less willing to overstep.

"Speaking of it, I still feel guilty for not helping back at Shrek, which worsened our present situation. I've racked my brains lately, hoping the idea I've come up with can aid the God Realm and the Tang Sect."

As he spoke, Yu Xiaogang led Tang San deeper into the hall, idly thumbing the book in his hand.

Tang San glanced at it and unpleasant memories surfaced.

Back at Shrek, Tang Hao—his father—had set him up, making him think he could challenge Chu Feng; he'd died for it. Resurrection dulled the sting, yet the memory still hurt.

Throughout that whole affair, Yu Xiaogang had vanished. Instead of striving for Shrek, he'd cowered as always, hiding away much as he once fled Spirit Hall, avoiding reality.

Yet scoundrels sometimes find fortune; when heaven-and-earth spiritual energy revived across Douluo, he snatched a share of providence—chiefly the book he now carried.

Tang San pulled his thoughts back, intrigued. "Grandmaster, is this book really useful? It doesn't look like something Douluo should have—hard to confirm even within the primordial era system."

He was baffled; despite cramming knowledge of this new Douluo World, he still hit blind spots.

Yet his remark thrilled Yu Xiaogang so much his mouth nearly twisted from grinning.

After all, as the future renowned theorist of the continent—and possible discoverer of a new truth—he brimmed with confidence.

He closed the book, tapped its cover, and revealed the title: "Investiture of the Gods Advanced Guide, Refined Edition."

"This is a revelation I attained. It seems the source text of the primordial era system; the system arose because of it. Most can't decipher it, but I'm different—I was chosen to interpret and spread its teachings."

He spoke with rising cadence, heaping praise upon himself.

Still, part of his claim was true: the book was essentially an explanatory version of Investiture of the Gods adapted for Douluo.

Few could grasp the system as completely as Chu Feng; they needed a guide.

Fortune—or misfortune—decreed that guide be Yu Xiaogang, who now believed the book could alter the continent's fate.

"From its contents," he continued, "the investiture of the gods system requires a key figure."

Tang San's interest sharpened. "Who?"

"Jiang Ziya."

"Jiang Ziya?"

"Yes. He perfectly shaped the concept of deification, giving the primordial gods a systematic order. Though it restrained the once-free primordial power structure, the outcome was meaningful—unfortunately…"

"Unfortunately?"

"He can't appear in our World; the might of the primordial Dao isn't fully compatible with Douluo. We must find another way."

Their discussion reached its crucial point—and stalled.

Tang San needed the system's deepest, core power; he hoped Yu Xiaogang might yet surprise him—his very reason for coming.

Yet if they couldn't extrapolate from the book, the trip would be wasted—something Tang San refused to accept.

"If you've no ideas, Grandmaster, perhaps I should return to the continent for now," he hinted.

It was a trap; the suggestion sent Yu Xiaogang into anxious urgency—he dared not go back unprepared.

"I have it: I'll imitate Jiang Ziya—devise the path of deification and lead the God Realm back to the continent."

In his haste he sensed a rift; status had erected an invisible wall between them, yet he still leaned on Tang San, needing him to realize his scholarly ambition.

"You, play Jiang Ziya?"

Tang San nearly asked "are you worthy?" but courtesy—and self-interest—stayed his tongue.

"It shouldn't be hard; one simply channels Dao power to bestow supreme might on others. Only trouble is we lack the investiture of the gods list."

Yu Xiaogang turned solemn, already trying on Jiang Ziya's mantle.

Tang San studied him. "My newly formed Tang Sect is scouring the continent for supreme opportunities. A substitute for the list may exist—but are you confident, Grandmaster?"

"Absolutely. I still have some reputation at Shrek and across the land, and you, God-King Tang San, were once my student—rest assured."

His deference bordered on obsequious; strength alone dictated such humility.

Tang San disliked it; his face darkened, yet he still endorsed the plan.

"Then, Grandmaster, what's our first step?" he asked, probing.

"Gather some people and test whether we can enact deification and explore other possibilities."

Yu Xiaogang meant to stall and plan, but Tang San came prepared.

"Perfect. Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun and the rest followed me here; they're waiting for me to confer divinity. With you present, Grandmaster, they might ascend on the spot."
