Samara's eyes snapped up to his face.
"I need to talk to you," she said.
Her voice came out higher than she intended. Thinner.
Caelion's lips curved into a slow smile.
"At this hour?" He tilted his head, water dripping from his hair onto his shoulder. "You could have waited until morning."
"No." She swallowed. "I could not."
He studied her for a long moment. His green eyes moved across her face, her throat, the cloth wrapped around her hair. She saw the moment he noticed something was wrong. His smile faded.
"Come in," he said.
He stepped back from the doorway.
Samara hesitated for only a second. Then she walked inside.
The door closed behind her with a soft click.
