As soon as Noel snapped out of his daydream, she looked around and realized he was standing in a long abandoned section of the amusement park. Several old, dilapidated rides were visible all around them, a sign that the place had never reopened, and Noel had crossed the boundary that visitors were supposed to stay within.
"Oh fuck, I must have walked way too far without realizing it." He berated himself for getting so lost in thoughts of the past that he hadn't even noticed where he was.
"Mommy, are you okay? Should we call Uncle Alastair to come pick us up?" Silas asked innocently, looking up at his mother's face.
"I'm fine, Honey. I was just daydreaming a little, and I'm sorry I brought you here. We'd better leave right away."
Without wasting any time, Noel quickly left the area, retracing the path he had taken earlier. However, he ended up getting even more lost, and the sounds of the amusement park's bustle were no longer audible where he was.
