Chapter 18: ( Wrong words from the wrong person)
The moment the school bell rang for closure, students began flooding out of classes with their schoolbags glad to finally be going home or wherever they had to go.
Xiao Yanran threw her school bag to her back rushing out of class but Yu Han who was still seated at her desk purposely shoved out her legs making Xiao Yanran trip over and she fell face forward but luckily, before her face could meet with the floor, a pair of hands held her.
One at her waist and the other at her shoulder making her hang in the air, her face few inches from the floor as her heart pounded.
She was then pulled back up.
now balanced on her feet, she turned to see who had caught her and saw it was Xu Yun.
"T t thanks", she said shyly.
"It's fine, you were about leaving right, let's go",
Xu Yun said and Xiao Yanran nodded as they both walked out of class ignoring Yu Han who sat glaring at them.
"I've met your older brother",
Xiao Yanran said as they walked along the passageway.
"You have",
Xu Yun said and Xiao Yanran nodded.
"Yes, he's actually a friend to my home tutor",
Xiao Yanran said and Xu Yun nodded.
"Does he work under a big company, his taxi cars look really expensive ",
Xiao Yanran asked confusing Xu Yun as he wondered if Xu Jin had told her he was a taxi driver.
"Well he works under an ubber company, the cars belong to the company", Xu Yun lied.
"That's nice, how does it work",
Xiao Yanran asked and Xu Yun scratched the back of his nape wondering how his lie was leading him into more lies.
"Well, he's not a Taxi everyday driver. People who usually go on business trips or scheduled ride oder for a drive online then they assign a driver manually and send an ubber".
Xu Yun said wondering when he became a professional liar.
"Okay",
Xiao Yanran said as they arrived outside the school walking to the spot bikes were parked only to see Li Wen pushing out her bike angrily while murmuring something under her breath.
"Darn I'll kill them, I'll drag out their hairs and knit a sweater with it",
Li Wen kept murmuring as if she'd lost her mind.
"Wen, what happened?", Xiao Yanran asked.
"Someone stabbed a knife in my bike's tyre and I'm sure it's Yu Han and her girls, they'd better still be at school cause I'm gonna stab them with it ",
Li Wen said angrily pulling out the knife from the tyre.
"Uhm, I'd advise you calm down ", Xu Yun said.
"Don't you dare tell me to calm down!",
Li Wen suddenly yelled pointing the knife at him which startled him making his heart rate watch begin beeping.
Xu Jun who had stepped out of school heading towards the parking spot heard the familiar beeping sound and immediately ran over.
"Yun, what happened, why's it beeping",
Xu Jun asked the moment he arrived grabbing Xu Yun's hand that had the watch.
"It's nothing let's go",
Xu Yun said removing his hand from Xu Jun's hold and taking Xu Jun's hand instead as they walked away.
"He didn't even say goodbye, you must've gotten him upset ",
Xiao Yanran said the moment Xu Jun and Xu Yun left.
"What do I do wrong?", Li Wen said.
"What did you do wrong?, Wen he's wearing a heart rate watch, it's obvious he's got a heart problem, he was just trying to help and you yelled at him pointing a knife at him which startled him making his watch beep", Xiao Yanran queried.
"So, he's fine isn't he, they're just like their older brother, always pissing me off. Their older brother was the annoying guy I told you splashed mud on me",
Li Wen said and Xia Yanran glared at her.
"You know, you're such a proud person who never admits faults, you're always reacting fast at everything and just so you know, their older brother works under an ubber company, the window you shattered must have gotten him in a lot of trouble ", Xiao Yanran yelled at her.
"Why are you even defending them, who's side are you on", Li Wen yelled back.
"I'm on their side of cause, I can't support you when you're being so proud and stubborn", Xiao Yanran yelled and Li Wen scoffed.
"Wow, now you can yell and express yourself but you can't even stand up to Yu Han and her bully friends, the reason they stabbed my bike in the first place is because I use it to carry a loser like you!",
Li Wen yelled and silence suddenly descended between the two.
Xiao Yanran, completely shocked that Li Wen could actually call her that word she hated the most. A loser.
Xiao Yanran didn't say anything else and walked away making Li Wen feel bad as she ruffled her hair.
"Darn it!",
she yelled sitting on one of the steps as tears finally rolled down her eyes. She'd just been so frustrated, she hadn't meant to say those words to Xiao Yanran or yell at Xu Yun.
The thought of having to marry a rich proud jerk after highschool just kept eating her up.
When she met him in Central Shanghai and was left to talk with him, she found out he was just a rich proud jerk who only kept talking about his accomplishments. And the type who saw women like a piece of furniture.
As long as he could meet your needs with his money, there was no need to show love or affection or even loyalty. She could still clearly remember how he had told her to the face,
When they were married, as long as he didn't deny her money or any of her needs and could take care of his family with his money, he had a right to still date other women even while with kids. She had told this to her parents but they didn't seem to care.
Her mother even told her it was better to marry a rich man who could spend recklessly on her without love than a poor loving man who couldn't meet her needs and even telling her she should be glad, most girls would wish to be in her shoes but Li Wen definitely wouldn't mind giving the shoes to those girls who would be glad to marry a man like that.
She wiped the tears from her eyes then dragged her bike towards the road and tried hailing a taxi.
Xu Jin who was driving back from dropping Lei Zhang at fortune pavilion happened to see Li Wen at the road side trying to hail a taxi and immediately parked in front of her.
He was surprised to see Li Wen on the same school uniform he usually saw Xiao Yanran on. Well there was a lot of schools with the same uniform but this exact uniform was from only one school here in Fengxian.
Whining down the window of the driver's seat, Li Wen didn't seem glad to see him.
"I thought you do ubber orders and not taxi driving",
Li Wen said and Xu Jin creased his brows. Did Xiao Yanran tell her he was an ubber driver, were they that close.
"I just recognized you and thought to give you a ride",
Xu Jin said and Li Wen eyed him.
"A free ride?",
she asked and Xu Jin rolled his eyes, inwardly saying in his mind
"women".
"Yes free, now are you going to stop dragging that bike like a snail dragging it's shell and get in",
Xu Jin said and Li Wen glared at him
"Well pop your trunk so I'll put it in"
she said and Xu Jin pressed a button on a mini remote making the boot open on its own but Li Wen still stood there looking at him.
"Aren't you going to put it in?", Xu Jin asked.
"Aren't you going to help me, this bike is really heavy",
She said and he scoffed.
"I'm already helping by giving you a free ride, put the bike in the boot yourself",
Xu Jin said and Li Wen angrily dragged the bike towards the boot.
She tried lifting it up to the boot but failed in so many attempts while Xu Jin enjoyed watching her struggle through the side mirror.
she finally succeeded in putting it into the trunk then angrily sat at the front seat. After pressing the remote for the boot closing, Xu Jin looked at the girl beside him and couldn't help grinning.
"Has anyone told you you've got anger issues",
Xu Jin said and Li Wen glared at him.
"Are you going to drive or what", Li Wen said.
"Your address?", he asked.
"Cloud creek neighborhood",
she said and Xu Jin started the car, driving off. TBC
