With the 3D metal printer, 3D scanners, and some material cost that comes to $550,000 plus $50,000 for materials a total of $600,000.
Then if we calculate the cost of building the other buildings which is $54,000 per building. $20,000 for the building, $30,000 for the foundation, and $4,000 for the solar panels.
So for the remaining 9 places that I can put a building that will cost $486,000, together that's $1,086,000.
After working out how much I could spend I decided to go get the things I needed.
I bade farewell to Layla and went to the nearest WorstBuy. There I bought 5 cheap 4k cameras for $250 a piece, another pair of AR glasses for $400, a usb hub for $12 and 5 usb extensions for $25 a piece.
That was a total of $1,787.
When I made my way back I saw that there was a large truck delivering something.
I parked my car and went inside to see what was happening.
When I entered I saw Layla standing by the side looking on as some guys installed the fabrication machine.
I thought that was coming tomorrow? Well, if it's here a day early who am I to complain?
I walked up to Layla and said, "I didn't realize that they were dropping it off today."
She replied, "Yeah? Well, it's magnificent either way. This will make working on the car so much smoother."
We watched them hook it up and do the basic set up. They left shortly after.
While Layla decided to look through the menu and options of the fabrication machine I got to work setting up the cameras, placing them on the ceiling supports in four corners above her work area.
The last camera replaced her phone to become what she was recording with.
I connected all of the usb from the cameras to the computer, the four ceiling cameras were plugged into the usb hub then into the computer.
Then I pulled out the new AR glasses and connected them to the computer with blue tooth.
The AR glasses work as the medium for all of this to work.
Basically the plan is to make it so that Layla can use 3D modeling with the AR glasses and the camera be able to see it too. The other cameras are for the computer to create a full 3D rendering for the main camera to use as an overlay.
With the initial test proving that I can do it, it also showed that it is not perfect. The 3D rendering is doing that bounce thing that drives me crazy.
Because the AR glasses are not upgraded and are the main component as the person's head moves the 3D projection moves slightly too.
A few upgrades should fix that.
I messed around with the cameras and AR glasses for an hour and a half without interruption. I was surprised that Layla was so engrossed in the fabrication machine.
Once it was time to upgrade everything, I quietly opened the garage door and waited for a car to pass.
Once it did I quickly hit upgrade on everything, with blue light shining on quite a lot of stuff inside.
Layla, not expecting it to happen, quickly shielded her eyes with her arm, after a moment passed and the light disappeared she exclaimed, "What the heck was that!?"
"I don't know, a car passed by and a light shined in. I'm not sure if it was a reflection or some kind of powerful flash light."
"Sheesh. Wait, what is this?"
Layla noticed the new camera.
"This is a new camera."
"Obviously, but I mean why?"
"I needed it to do something cool."
"Like what?"
"Here."
I handed over the AR glasses.
"Put these on. These are new too. So, I haven't had the time to do many software updates, however it should be better than nothing. Anyway, do you see the 3D rendering floating there?"
"Yeah, I do. Man this is cool. I really feel like AlloyMan now."
"Right? Anyway, look over here. See what the camera sees?"
"Wait, does the camera see the hologram too?"
"Yep. Like I said, cool right? Now you can use that to show the camera what you plan to do."
"Wow, that really is cool."
"But, that's not all. I have already gotten the AI installed on the computer, so, if you take a piece of paper and draw the part on it. Then show it to the camera, the AI analyzes it and finds a similar match online and creates a 3D model. That way you can show the 3D model and even buy the part from the holographic screen that pops up around here."
"I'm stunned. This really is next level."
"Yeah. I'm pretty proud of myself… Another thing, the AI that takes the drawing and makes a 3D model is just one part. There is another AI that can run aerodynamics, wear and tear, weather, you name it simulations. I also made it so that it does the simulations in a 3D rendered visual way so you can see the damage and or performance first hand. You know, instead of just getting the numbers."
"Wow."
"Yep. So, you can start designing parts and testing them out whenever you want. The actual making will take a little bit of time but I already have everything I need. I just need to start making the calls."
"I don't even know what to say."
"Well, you could start with finishing the truck."
"Right! The truck! I had completely forgotten."
Layla got right back into the swing of things by talking to the camera and taking the truck apart. She was a natural. Layla took all of the body panels off first so that way she would have an easier time getting the engine out.
By the time she finished it, it was into the afternoon and neither of us had lunch. So Layla decided to run and grab us some sandwiches while stopping by the store to buy some saw horses.
I stopped her and said, "take my car and use this card to buy stuff for the shop."
"Ok, but I will still pay you back later."
"Sure."
