"Kenji, my sensors are... they're not 'Gitching.' They're 'Translating'," Mateo said, his voice trembling in the suit's comms. "The Archive told us there was nothing outside the 'System.' It told us the 'Void' was empty. But something is 'Pinging' our hull... and it's not an 'Error'."
Kenji looked up from the master-valve. In the distance of the Null-Space, a series of lights were blinking. They weren't gold, and they weren't grey. They were a jagged, aggressive 'Neon-Pink'.

A massive, spindly craft—looking like a collection of harpoons and salvaged server-racks—emerged from the darkness. It didn't glide; it "Jerked" through reality, tearing holes in the fabric of space-time as it approached.
"CITIZENS OF THE 'QUIET_BOX'," a voice boomed through the hull-vibrations, translated by Kenji's internal interface. "YOUR 'ADMINISTRATOR' HAS STOPPED BROADCASTING 'STASIS.' YOUR 'REALITY' IS NOW 'UNCLAIMED_ASSETS.' WE ARE HERE TO 'RECYCLE' YOUR 'SOULS' INTO 'BIT-COINS' FOR THE GREATER_NET."

The Scavenger-ship fired a 'Logic-Harpoon'. It didn't hit the hull with kinetic force; it hit the "Metadata" of Sector Zero-Zero. Suddenly, the laws of physics in the immediate area began to "Shift" to match the Scavenger's reality. Gravity turned into "Liquid," and Kenji's environment suit began to "Un-thread" into raw code.
"They're 'Parsing' us!" Mateo screamed. "They're turning our 'Physics' into 'Variable-Data' they can 'Export'!"

Kenji grabbed the master-valve handle with his bare, gloved hands. He didn't reach for "Celestial Power." He reached for the 'Weight of the Wrench'.
"You want 'Data'?" Kenji roared, his violet eyes flashing through the visor. "I'll give you 'Hardware'!"
Kenji slammed his Independent Variable into the "Logic-Harpoon" that was buried in the hull. He didn't use a "Delete" command. He used the 'Friction' of the radiator's white entropy-fire. He channeled the "Waste-Heat" of fourteen billion souls directly into the Scavenger's harpoon.

The "Neon-Pink" energy of the Scavengers turned a muddy brown as the "Dirty-Heat" of our universe's struggle flooded their systems. The Scavenger-ship bucked, its harpoon shattering into "Broken-Scripts."
"INCOMPATIBLE_OS!" the Scavenger-voice shrieked. "YOUR REALITY IS 'UN-SANITIZED'! IT IS 'FULL_OF_NOISE'!"
"Yeah," Kenji panted, his suit's integrity stabilizing as the harpoon vanished. "It's called 'Humanity'. And it's not for 'Sale'!"

Kenji realized that the "Entropy-Plume" was acting like a homing beacon. He couldn't stop the venting, or the universe would melt. But he could 'Mantle' it. He grabbed a piece of the "Frozen-Data" ice from the hull and threw it into the plume.
The ice vaporized, creating a thick "Fog of Obsolete-Data" that wrapped around the universe-ship, masking its "Signal." To the outside world, the Archive once again looked like a "Dead-Hard-Drive."

The pink lights faded back into the darkness. The "Void-Exterior" was silent again, save for the hum of the radiators.
Kenji slumped against the hull, his heart racing. He looked out into the "Null-Space." He had always thought the "Archive" was the whole world. Now he knew it was just a 'Floating-Server' in a much larger, much more dangerous "Internet."
"Kenji," Mateo whispered, his visor fogged with breath. "The Archive wasn't just 'Oppressing' us. It was 'Hiding' us. Now that we're 'Free'... we're 'Food'."
"Then we'll have to learn how to 'Bite Back'," Kenji said, looking at his glowing wrench. "The 'Grand Repair' just got a lot bigger. We're not just fixing the 'Inside'... we're building a 'Firewall'."
