Luna sat atop Zeke Veridian's back, draped in the Invisibility Cloak. Thinking there was no need to cover herself completely at this moment, she lifted the hood to let her face breathe.
Moonlight flowed like water, filtering through the gaps between forest branches, dappling her face with a dreamy, misty beauty.
Zeke Veridian sped along at a breakneck pace, the trees on either side flashing past like images spooled backwards at great speed.
The night wind howled at her ears, filled with the wild and untamed edge of the primeval forest.
She patted Zeke's back: "Slow down, or you'll blow my Invisibility Cloak right off!"
Zeke slowed ever so slightly at her words, though his wolfish ears stood alert: "Up ahead is the Pyreflame Gorge. The Phoenix Clan patrols often prowl these parts."
The canyon's walls gleamed a sinister crimson in the moonlight, as though stained with fresh blood.
Suddenly Luna pressed down on Zeke's back: "Wait!"
