Friday afternoon, Serena concluded a lengthy transnational video conference and leaned back in her office chair, her eyes scanning through case files.
Her phone rang at a timely moment, displaying a call from Jasper Grant.
"Jasper." She answered the call.
Jasper Grant's gentle voice came through: "At the law firm?"
"Yes."
"Come back to the family home for dinner tonight. What time do you finish work? I happen to be nearby, so I'll pick you up on my way."
Serena then remembered that she hadn't returned to the Grant Family home for quite some time, being preoccupied recently with Adrian Shaw.
"I can leave at any time. Whatever works for you."
Jasper Grant replied, "Then six o'clock, I'll be downstairs at the law firm."
Serena agreed, hung up the phone, and placed it on the table.
Just before leaving work, there was a knock on the office door. Vincent Langley came in with a stack of documents, settling familiarly into the guest chair across from her.
