Ren had always drawn a very firm line in the sand when it came to Vex. She had made a silent vow to herself that she was never, under any circumstances, going to go that far with him.
But as another bone-rattling shiver tore through her frail body, her survival instincts overrode everything.
Her lips were turning a faint shade of blue. Her teeth were chattering so hard her jaw ached, and her skin was covered in a canvas of goosebumps. If she didn't get her core body temperature up right this second, she was genuinely going to die of hypothermia.
Ren squeezed her eyes shut, took a shaky, freezing breath, and surrendered.
"Okay," Ren whispered, her voice barely a trembling squeak.
Vex acted instantly.
Before Ren could even open her eyes, Vex's arms wrapped securely around her bare waist and the back of her knees. He scooped her naked, shivering body completely off the stone floor with zero effort, carrying her swiftly to the furthest, darkest corner of the cave.
