Chapter 114: Dimensional Magic
"You damn psycho!" Voldemort screams while protecting his face with his arms. He felt the heat and saw the blinding light even with his eyes closed.
His magic had formed a protective cocoon around him in a last-ditch attempt to survive the destruction.
There was a deafening sound at the moment of the impact, but it was slowly disappearing.
"It's a bit strange hearing you calling me something like that." The calm voice of Harry reached his ears.
It was then that he realized that the heat was gone and so was the blinding flash of light. Voldemort's eyes snapped open in an instant. "What?!..." He was still floating in the air.
He looked around. Nothing looked destroyed, but there was no sign of Hogwarts either. "What is this?" Voldemort asked.
They were floating above a grassy plain, and it was suddenly daytime. White towers could be seen in the distance.
"What did you do?"
"I thought about it for a while. You know...about the best way to deal with you." Harry sighed. "The truth is…I could kill you in so many ways, but if we were to fight properly, the destruction caused would be massive and could potentially break apart the Statute of Secrecy. The clash between my magic and the one stored inside V would be too much. I cannot have that. Which is why I decided to bring you here."
Voldemort's eyes scanned the surroundings. No matter how much he looked, this was not a landscape he could recognize. "You…how did you teleport me away? I had protections set in place f-"
"No, you still don't understand it." Harry floated a bit closer to the Dark Lord. "I didn't exactly teleport you. We are not in the real world."
"What?!" Voldemort reached for his head and found the magical hat still in its place. "V! Is this a mental attack? Why didn't you stop it?!" The hat was supposed to be the ultimate protection against mind magic.
Not to mention that Voldemort himself was already an expert in that branch of magic. So he couldn't understand how a mental attack could have bypassed all the safety measures.
"The mental attack has been successfully deflected," V responded in monotone.
"We are still under attack, you stupid, useless thing!" Voldemort shouted, almost wanting to rip the hat to pieces. His magic flared up in response.
This made him stop. "I can use my magic…no…this is not a mental attack. This is reality." Every fiber of his being was telling him that this was all real.
He turned to look at Harry. "I am not in the mood for your games, Potter."
Harry shrugged. "You are still very confused…aren't you? Let me give you a hand. That meteor that you saw before…that was a mental attack. V was quick to bring you back to your senses."
"Then…what is this?" Voldemort shouted.
"As I said before, we couldn't fight properly in the real world. However…" Harry made a gesture with his hand, and the ground beneath them began to split apart.
Massive boulders flew into the air and began to float around Harry, circling him.
"In here, we can do whatever we want without fear of hurting any real person. Tom…this is a pocket dimension of my creation. I brought us inside so we can have our final duel."
He had first used a mental attack to create an opening. During the few seconds that Voldemort was distracted, Harry had opened a gate to this place and pulled them both inside.
"A pocket dimension?!" Voldemort was shocked to hear this, but didn't feel like Harry was lying.
Dimensional magic did exist, but it was still in its infancy. Wizards had learned how to use it to make spaces feel bigger or how to create small pocket spaces inside briefcases or bags.
A pocket dimension of this size was unheard of. This appeared to be nearly as big as an entire planet.
"V! Confirm." He demanded.
"The statement is correct. We are currently trapped inside an artificial space created by magic. Everything around us is made with magical particles, and they all match Harry Potter's signature." V responded.
"Sorry about the bland design," said Harry. "I didn't have much time to come up with something better, so I used the same one from my mental space. I'll try to improve on it in the future."
"Tsk! You think I will play by your rules?! You damn brat." Voldemort raised his hand in the air. "Go to he-" He suddenly froze.
"Are you trying to apparate? That is not going to work," Harry said.
More boulders were floating around him, making it a dozen by now. Every single one of them was the size of a pickup truck.
"V, open a Gate. Now!" Voldemort demanded. He couldn't use the spell himself, but could have the magical hat do it for him.
A black portal appeared before the Dark Lord, and he quickly crossed it.
Only to reappear a few feet away from where he began.
"What are you doing?!" Voldemort shouted.
"I opened a Gate," V responded in monotone.
"I meant back to Hogwarts!" He clenched his teeth with barely restrained rage.
V took a long moment to answer. "Not possible. We have been disconnected from the outside world. Teleportation is only possible within this pocket dimension."
"What?!" Voldemort brought his hand inside his robes and took a small coin out. Holding it in his hand, he muttered the safe word to activate the portkey.
No effect.
"This can't be happening. I don't believe it!" Voldemort was in shock. He refused to acknowledge that someone would be able to trap him, since it would mean they had a higher mastery of magic.
"Believe whatever you want. Oh, and by the way…" Harry was not going to give him more time to fool around. He threw one of the boulders at him. "You shouldn't get so distracted."
Voldemort gasped when he saw the massive rock approaching like a cannonball. He hurried to make a shield around him. The boulder hit him and sent him flying towards one of the white towers in the distance.
Harry aimed his hand in the direction the Dark Lord flew and sent the rest of the boulders. "Let me show you what I can do now…V."
