Chapter 113: Demonstration of Power
Harry was hovering in the air, using the same magic as Voldemort. The two of them were looking at each other, just twenty yards away. A distance that could be erased in a second.
His eyes rested on the hat. His old friend.
"V…" His lips opened up to say his name.
"I'm sorry. I should have…" He should have done many things differently. He should have listened more to what his friend was trying to tell him.
V knew deep down that this scenario was a strong possibility. The bond between Voldemort and his Horcruxes could be suppressed but not broken, at least not forever.
His friend had predicted this, which is why he made a request that Harry was not willing to fulfill at the time.
But he was ready now. Ready to do whatever was necessary.
"Well…I thought you would have more to say." Voldemort had a deep frown on his face. This was not the reaction he anticipated. He wanted Harry to be more desperate and angry. He needed it…
Harry's green eyes moved to meet Voldemort's deep red ones. However, his face failed to display any emotion towards the Dark Lord.
"I have… nothing to say to you, Tom. You are just a plague infecting this land. A disease that someone needs to get rid of. And that is what I came here to do. That…and fulfill an old promise."
Voldemort was gritting his teeth. "I'm going to make you beg…." A red aura enveloped his body. A constant flow of magical energy could be seen leaving the hat and entering the Dark Lord.
He then aimed the palms of both hands towards Harry. "Crucio Maxima!"
The curse did not manifest as a single, nearly invisible strand, but as thousands of them, red in color, flying from Voldemort's hands and appearing to cover the entire landscape.
They moved in front of Harry, as well as behind, below, above, to the left, and to the right, leaving him trapped inside with nowhere to go.
He couldn't escape either. Voldemort had made sure to seal any sort of teleportation magic, including his gate.
The strands got closer, and if a single one of them were to touch him, he would feel the full effects of the Cruciatus Curse. If more than one were to make contact, it would be more than enough to kill any person in a matter of seconds.
At least, that is how it would normally work.
Harry stretched his hand and touched one of the red strands. He felt no pain whatsoever.
The strand lost its red glow, becoming pale white before it crumbled away.
The rest of them soon did the same. Thousands of magical strands lost their power and crumbled into particles of dust, washed away by the wind.
Harry remained in the same spot as before, floating in the air, watching the dust disappear.
A serene image that left everything in silence for a long moment.
Voldemort tapped on the hat. He needed an explanation and was sure that V held the answers. He knew everything about Harry. The two of them had spent thousands of years together.
V had watched as Harry studied and practiced every spell he knew.
He got nothing from the hat.
"This can't be… You were still holding things from me?" He was sure of it now.
From the day he took control over his old horcrux and recovered all the memories from the hat, Voldemort had this nagging feeling that V had managed to keep something from him.
There was a part of V's mind that was so well protected that even taking control over him… that part remained hidden.
The Dark Lord was beyond furious. "Avada Kedavra!" The runes on his arm glowed like hot coals.
A mass of green light transformed into a gigantic wave of death that flew directly at Harry.
"All of that power and knowledge…" Harry muttered. "And this is all you can do with it."
The runes on his body became alive. Hands, arms, face, chest, and legs. All of them lit up, glowing with a green light.
Harry snapped his fingers, and the wave of death was divided into two, each one passing by one side, leaving the middle empty.
They crashed behind him in the distance, destroying a large part of the landscape. Plants and trees died immediately when the death magic touched them.
His green green meets with Voldemort's cruel red ones.
"I suppose it's my turn." Harry pointed his finger at the sky. "Lapis…"
The clouds parted aside.
"Caeli." Something massive was flying down from above.
"Ira." Harry was now pointing at Voldemort.
The Dark Lord was staring into the air with shock in his eyes. "What did you do?...are you crazy?!" He knew this spell. It was one of Harry's most dangerous sorceries. It was the pinnacle of the conjuration branch.
"You are going to kill everyone!" he screamed.
What Harry had just created with his magic was a massive rock falling from the sky at terminal speed. In other words… a meteor.
A short distance away was the castle of Hogwarts. The Headmaster and the others were still fighting inside against what was left of the Dark Lord's army.
"V! You have to do something!" Voldemort could not escape. He had done a great job at sealing the area.
This was to prevent Harry from getting away, but it was now acting as a double-edged sword.
"I cannot stop this. Only you can," V responded in monotone.
"What's that supposed to mean?!" Voldemort shouted. He could not stop a bloody meteor.
The meteor was moving too fast for him to dodge it completely. The impact was merely a couple of seconds away.
Voldemort made a desperate decision to fly towards Harry, thinking that the boy surely had a way to protect himself from the impact.
Then…the meteor hit the ground, and everything became enveloped in light and heat.
