Several agents immediately started to protest.
"Sir, with all due respect—" one began.
Coulson raised his hand without turning around. His tone was calm but firm.
"You can all leave," he said. "I'll handle this."
The agents hesitated. Some exchanged looks, and a few gave Ethan suspicious stares, but they followed orders. One by one, the S.H.I.E.L.D. vehicles pulled away from the crater.
Soon, only Coulson remained.
The desert became quiet as the last vehicle disappeared in the distance.
Ethan watched them leave, then turned back toward the crater.
"Well," he said casually, "now that everyone's gone…"
The black sword on his shoulder shifted and turned back into his watch.
Coulson crossed his arms. "You show up quickly whenever something unusual appears."
"You told me about a hammer no one can lift with energy similar to the Tesseract," Ethan replied. "Of course I came."
He walked toward the crater. Sharon and the others followed but kept some distance.
Ethan stopped at the edge and looked down.
The hammer sat in the center of the crater. It looked like made up of iron and simple, with no visible technology.
Even Sharon paused as her systems tried to analyze it.
Ethan scanned it with his eyes for a few seconds, then let out a quiet breath.
"…Yeah," he said. "This isn't human technology."
Coulson watched him closely. "So it's not yours?"
"I didn't say I made it," Ethan replied calmly. "You know I only said that to send the other agents away."
Coulson nodded slowly as he looked at the hammer. "But judging by your reaction… I guess you know what it is."
"Hm. You'd be surprised who this hammer belongs to," Ethan said while staring at it.
Inside his mind, he asked quietly, 'System… can I use this hammer?'
[Host can use it. With the magical energy within the Host's body—granted by the Quan Chi template—the Host will not need to sacrifice lifespan to wield it.]
Coulson studied him. "So… you know whose hammer this is?"
Ethan shifted his focus back to reality. "Have you heard of Thor?"
"Thor? As in the Asgardian god from mythology?" Coulson asked.
"Yeah," Ethan replied. "Except they're not exactly gods—more like aliens. Though they call themselves a god race."
Coulson frowned. "I'm really not in the mood for jokes."
"Neither am I," Ethan said simply.
He turned slightly toward Sharon. "Secure the area. The owner will probably show up soon—big guy, long hair, looks like a bodybuilder. Once he comes to claim his hammer… we'll talk."
Sharon nodded immediately. She tossed four small discs onto the ground. The devices activated instantly—unfolding into sleek nanite structures that reshaped themselves into a compact but heavily fortified command house within seconds.
She threw two more discs near the crater. A transparent energy field formed around the hammer, humming softly as it stabilized.
Ethan looked back at Coulson. "You're welcome to stay here if you want."
Coulson glanced at the rapidly constructed base, then back at Ethan. "…I would really like such a handy house."
Ethan gave a small shrug. "I would have sold it if not for your shield was filled with moles"
Coulson sighed and nodded.
He walked toward the edge of the crater again and looked at the hammer through the faint glow of the energy field.
"Now we wait," he said.
Coulson stood beside him, arms crossed. "And you're certain this Thor is coming?"
Ethan smirked slightly. "If that's really Mjolnir… he won't stay away for long."
Soon, the entire day passed and night finally arrived. At last, Thor showed up.
"He came in a van?" Coulson said, watching Thor step out along with three other humans.
"Are they Asgardians too?" Coulson asked, looking at the others.
"No," Ethan replied calmly. "They're completely human."
Thor stepped out of the van and immediately began walking toward the hammer.
"He's really going for it," Coulson said.
Ethan nodded.
But suddenly, Thor touched the energy field. A surge of electricity shot through him, and he was thrown back—falling unconscious onto the sand.
"..."
"..."
"Wasn't Thor supposed to be the god of thunder?" Coulson finally said. "How did he get knocked out by electricity?"
Ethan frowned slightly. "I… don't have an answer for that either."
"Maybe he's not Thor," Sharon suggested.
"No," Ethan said, shaking his head. "He's not human. I scanned all four of them when they arrived—only he showed a non-human signature. So he's most likely Thor. And judging by his condition and behavior… he's probably been stripped of his powers. In the myths, Thor doesn't walk up to the hammer—the hammer flies to him."
Ethan turned toward Strom. "Go bring our guest to the living room. And bring the three humans with him too."
Strom nodded silently and left.
Strom walked down into the crater with two guards. They lifted Thor carefully and carried him back toward the Arasaka base. The three humans hesitated at first, looking nervous, but Sharon calmly told them they weren't in danger. After a moment, they followed.
Inside the temporary Arasaka structure, the living room was simple but modern—clean furniture, soft lights, and several screens showing security feeds. Thor was placed on a large couch while a medical drone hovered nearby, scanning his condition.
"He'll wake up soon," Sharon said after checking the readings. "No serious damage. Just nervous shock and forced shutdown of his current energy state."
Coulson stood near the wall, arms crossed, watching everything quietly.
The three humans sat together on another couch. One of them—a woman—looked worried. "Is he going to be okay?"
"Yes," Ethan replied. "He's tougher than he looks."
"And you guys are…?" Coulson asked, but the middle-aged man spoke first.
"Shouldn't you introduce yourselves first?" he said.
"We are Arasaka," one of the guards replied harshly. "And right now, you're on our property—and your guy just tried to steal from here."
Erik was about to respond, but Jane stopped him.
"I'm Jane Foster," she said calmly. "And this is Erik Selvig. We're both scientists working in astrophysics."
She then gestured toward the younger woman beside her. "And she's Darcy Lewis."
"Hmm… so how did you guys get involved with Thor?" Ethan asked.
"Thor? How do you even know his name?" Jane asked, clearly confused since none of them had mentioned it.
"He's Thor of the Asgardians—that much I know," Ethan replied calmly. "Most likely he was banished from Asgard to Earth. I have to say, though… his punishment is much lighter than what his elder sister received."
Jane and Coulson exchanged a glance.
"She was banished to Niflheim and sealed there," Ethan added casually.
Coulson narrowed his eyes. "How do you even know all this?"
"I learned it from the Arashikage Library," Ethan said. "Though I used to think they were just stories… until my mother told me they were actually historical records."
Coulson looked at him carefully. "Arashikage… the same clan your mother comes from?"
Ethan nodded once.
