In the next instant, countless round, fluffy Kuribohs suddenly popped into existence on either side of Yusaku's Duel Runner, each one blinking with big watery eyes in an almost absurdly adorable way.

The moment he saw the swarm of Kuribohs on the field, Sato Kosuke let out a mocking snort. "Kuriboh? Isn't that card famous for being total garbage? You actually run something like that?"
"I'm seriously starting to doubt how strong you really are."
Then he shouted, "All right, now it's time to resolve my effect! I activate the effect of Blackwing - Sudri the Phantom Glimmer!"
"When this card is successfully Summoned, I can activate its effect! I add 1 card from my Deck that mentions 'Black-Winged Dragon,' except this card itself, to my hand!"
"I choose Blackwing - Vata the Emblem of Wandering from my Deck!"
After adding the searched card to his hand, Sato immediately pulled out another card and revealed it. "Next, I activate the effect of Blackwing - Shamal the Sandstorm from my hand!"
"I can send this card from my hand or field to the Graveyard to activate its effect! I place 1 Black Feather Whirlwind face-up from my Deck in my Spell and Trap Zone!"
"I send this card to the Graveyard and place the Continuous Spell Black Feather Whirlwind onto the field!"
Once the Continuous Spell was set in place, Sato pulled out the card he had just searched and revealed it again. "Next, I activate the effect of Blackwing - Vata the Emblem of Wandering in my hand!"
"If I control a 'Blackwing' monster other than this card, I can Special Summon it from my hand!"
"I've got Blackwing - Sudri the Phantom Glimmer on my field, so I can Special Summon this card!"
The instant the card hit his Duel Disk, a flash of blue light burst forth, and a tiny Blackwing monster with fluffy blue feathers and something like a little leather vest sprang onto the field.

"Now I activate the effect of Blackwing - Vata the Emblem of Wandering!" Sato's voice suddenly rose. "During the Main Phase, I can activate this effect! I send this card and non-Tuner 'Blackwing' monsters from my Deck whose total Levels equal 8 to the Graveyard, then Special Summon Black-Winged Dragon from my Extra Deck!"
The moment he finished speaking, Yusaku's calm voice cut in again.
"Since you activated a monster effect, I can activate the other effect of Multiply Kuriboh on my field."
"Once per turn, when your opponent activates the effect of a monster on the field, I can Special Summon 1 'Dark Magician' or 1 monster with 300 ATK and 200 DEF. After that, I can also make that monster's ATK become 0."
"So I activate that effect." A faint trace of amusement entered Yusaku's tone. "I Special Summon another Multiply Kuriboh with 300 ATK and 200 DEF from my Deck."

As Yusaku's words fell, the newly Summoned Kuriboh suddenly transformed into a streak of dazzling light and slammed straight into Sato's Blackwing - Vata the Emblem of Wandering.
A sharp sound rang out, and the Blackwing monster's ATK value instantly plummeted.

Seeing his monster's ATK drop to zero, Sato only sneered in contempt. "Did I hear that right just now? Dark Magician plus Kuriboh? What kind of prehistoric garbage combo is that? How did idiots like Kanzaki Sosuke and Inoue Ichiki even lose to you?"
Yusaku glanced at him and replied flatly, with a trace of ridicule in his voice. "Then if you lose to these prehistoric monsters you're mocking so much, wouldn't that mean your Deck is even worse than a prehistoric one?"
"That's absolutely impossible." Sato smiled with complete confidence. "According to the intel I got, you like building your field during your opponent's turn."
He swept a disdainful look over the two Kuribohs on Yusaku's field, his tone certain.
"This is a Turbo Duel. On a high-speed track like this, where would you even get the time to calmly build a board? And neither of your monsters is a Tuner. What, are you going to pull off an Accel Synchro during my turn?"
He stopped wasting words and shouted, "Then, with the effect of Blackwing - Vata the Emblem of Wandering, I send the Level 2 effect monster Blackwing - Chinook the Snow Blast, the Level 4 effect monster Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite, and this card itself to the Graveyard as Synchro Material!"
"Come forth, Black-Winged Dragon!"
Sato Kosuke's roar drowned beneath the crowd's deafening cheers.
At his call, a massive black tornado suddenly erupted in the center of the field and shot skyward. Violent currents swept through the arena, forcing people to squint against the gale.
A giant dragon covered in dull black scales burst through the storm with a thunderous roar. As its enormous wings beat, countless black feathers scattered through the air. Its crimson slit-pupiled eyes locked onto Yusaku, radiating a pressure that made one's heart seize.

"At this moment!" Sato shot up his hand and shouted, "I activate the effect of my Continuous Spell, Black Feather Whirlwind!"
"Once per turn, when I Special Summon a DARK Synchro Monster from my Extra Deck, I can target 1 'Blackwing' monster or 1 'Black-Winged Dragon' in my Graveyard or banishment with lower ATK than that monster and activate this effect!"

The instant the monster reappeared on the field, Sato pressed the attack without pause.
"Then I tune my Level 4 Blackwing - Sudri the Phantom Glimmer with the Level 2 Tuner monster Blackwing - Vata the Emblem of Wandering I just Summoned!"
"Synchro Summon! Level 6 - Blackwing - Nothung the Starlight!!"
The two figures turned into twin streams of light, intertwining into a spiraling stellar path that shot into the heavens. Brilliant stars sketched out a straight line of six linked lights across the sky, dazzling to the eye.
An instant later, a radiant rose-colored beam poured down like a collapsing galaxy and smashed into the ground, dimming even the lights of the stadium.
A Blackwing monster holding a sword of starlight slowly descended from within the beam. It wore silver armor, and the wings on its back glittered like stars in the night, cold and sharp.

"I activate the effect of Blackwing - Nothung the Starlight! And I chain the effect of Blackwing - Shamal the Sandstorm in my Graveyard!" Sato's voice rang with arrogant fervor.
But before he could continue, Yusaku interrupted again.
"Then, since you activated the effect of Blackwing - Nothung the Starlight on the field, I can activate the effect of my other Multiply Kuriboh."
"I Special Summon Elfnote Power Patron from my Deck, the monster with 300 ATK and 200 DEF."
As Yusaku spoke, the brilliant glow of a Summon blossomed once more. A monster cloaked in colorful plumage, as gorgeous as a peacock, slowly appeared on the field, its tail feathers spreading like a rainbow.

"A Tuner?" Sato frowned slightly as he stared at the monster that had appeared. A faint sense that something was wrong was beginning to creep into his mind.
Why was his opponent running so many Level 1 monsters, and how could they all be Summoned during the opponent's turn?
"Then it's time to resolve my effects!" Sato forcefully crushed his unease and shouted. "First, the effect of Blackwing - Shamal the Sandstorm in my Graveyard!"
"While this card is in the Graveyard, if a 'Blackwing' Synchro Monster or Black-Winged Dragon is Special Summoned to my field, I can banish this card and target 1 'Blackwing' monster in my Graveyard!"
"I add that monster to my hand! After that, I take 700 effect damage!"
"But..." Sato threw back his head and laughed proudly. "I've got Black-Winged Dragon on my field! Whenever I would take effect damage, I can place 1 Black Feather Counter on this card instead of taking that damage! Then this card loses 700 ATK for each counter on it! So I don't have to take that 700 damage at all!"
"I activate the effect! I banish Blackwing - Shamal the Sandstorm from my Graveyard and add Blackwing - Sudri the Phantom Glimmer, the monster I just used as Synchro Material, back to my hand!"
The moment his words fell, a dark violet aura flared around the Black-Winged Dragon on Sato's field. A single black counter slowly appeared and began circling around it.

Sato glared at Yusaku, his eyes full of vicious intent. "When this card is Special Summoned, its effect must activate! It inflicts 800 effect damage to my opponent! Yusaku, take those 800 points head-on!"
As his voice echoed out, Blackwing - Nothung the Starlight suddenly raised the star-forged sword in its hand and slashed downward through the air. A silver-white blade of energy burst forth, slicing straight through Yusaku in an instant.
The Duel Disk in front of Yusaku immediately flashed with harsh red light, and his Life Points shifted.

Yusaku rubbed his wrist and watched his Life Points fall, but the corners of his lips slowly lifted instead. "Finished resolving your effects? If you are, then it's my turn."
He raised his eyes toward Sato. "Watch closely. The Synchro is about to accelerate."
That line was transmitted clearly through the massive display screen at the starting line of the track to the players watching the duel.
In an instant, the spectators among the players all leaped to their feet in excitement, and a thunderous roar of cheers broke out.
"It's here, it's here! Finally! Senior Yusaku's Accel Synchro!"
"Hahaha! Get ready, front row! Watch Senior Yusaku teach that guy a lesson!"
"He seriously dared to play Synchros in front of Senior Yusaku? I have no idea where that kind of courage even comes from!"
"..."
Out on the track, the duel's atmosphere became even more intense.
Yusaku slowly revealed a card from his hand. His voice remained calm, yet it carried a force that made one's heart shudder.
"The instant the effect of your Blackwing - Nothung the Starlight finishes resolving, I activate the effect of Killer Tune Clip from my hand!"
"This card's effect!"
Yusaku's voice suddenly rose, carrying an unstoppable momentum.
"If this card is in my hand, I can activate it during my opponent's Main Phase! I Special Summon this card from my hand! After that, I can immediately conduct a Synchro Summon for 1 Synchro Monster!"
Sato Kosuke's pupils instantly shrank, and the smug look on his face froze in place. "Accel Synchro?!?"
"That's right. Accel Synchro." Yusaku slammed the card onto his Duel Disk, his voice resounding across the track. "Come out, Killer Tune Clip!"

The moment the Tuner monster appeared, Yusaku shouted again.
"By the effect of Killer Tune Clip! I tune my Level 1 Effect Monster Multiply Kuriboh with my Level 1 Tuner monster Elfnote Power Patron!"
"Synchro Summon! Level 2 - Formula Synchron!"
As his words rang out, the two monsters transformed into twin beams of dazzling light and flew up into the sky above the field.
An instant later, a huge Synchro pillar slanted down from the heavens. From within it came racing a monster shaped like a miniature race car, blue electricity crackling around its tires.

"I activate Formula Synchron's first effect, and then Formula Synchron's second effect as well!" Yusaku's voice did not pause for even a moment, driving forward in one clean flow.
"First, Formula Synchron's second effect!"
Yusaku shouted with unstoppable force.
"During my opponent's Main Phase, I can activate it! I use monsters on my field, including this card, as Synchro Material to Synchro Summon!"
"I tune it with my Level 1 Effect Monster Multiply Kuriboh on the field!"
"Synchro Summon! Level 3 - THE Star Ham!"
The two streaks of light soared upward again and met in the air.
Another Synchro pillar descended, and from within it, an adorable hamster wearing a flashy belt hopped onto the field.

"Next, Formula Synchron's first effect!" Yusaku pressed on without giving Sato room to breathe. "When this card is Synchro Summoned, I can draw 1 card from my Deck!"
After adding the drawn card to his hand, Yusaku spoke again, a sly smile in his voice. "Not over yet. This is only the beginning."
"Next, I activate the effect of THE Star Ham!"
"When this card is Synchro Summoned, I can discard 1 card from my hand and activate its effect! I Special Summon 1 monster from my Graveyard that was used as its Synchro Material!"
"I Special Summon Formula Synchron from my Graveyard!"
Formula Synchron

The instant the monster reappeared on the field, Yusaku immediately shouted, his voice full of excitement. "Formula Synchron's effect doesn't have a once-per-turn limit! So I can activate that effect again, tuning it with my Level 3 Effect Monster THE Star Ham!"
Yusaku raised his arm high, his voice brimming with power as it rang throughout the track.
"Gathered starlight races down the endless road of evolution! Become the shining path to victory!"
"Synchro Summon! Level 5 - Junk Speeder!!!"
The moment his words fell, an even more brilliant burst of Synchro starlight came crashing down like a waterfall.
A warrior clad in silver-white armor burst from the light. His figure was as sharp as a blade drawn from its sheath, and he swept out a fierce kick in midair that seemed capable of splitting the very atmosphere.

"Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit!!!"
The instant that monster appeared, the already frenzied spectators among the players completely exploded.
