Calen wanted to put a smile on Roxanna's face, and he also wanted his wife to feel proud of him. That was why he thought the demon tiger's fang was the key to getting all of those things.
"Were you thinking about your mother when you searched for this… demon tiger fang?" Roxanna finally asked.
Calen nodded immediately. "Yes!" Then he added in a quiet voice, "Is that… a bad thing?"
Roxanna quickly shook her head. "No, not at all." She softened her gaze and gently took the necklace from Calen's hand. "That actually makes this thing even more valuable, something I must keep carefully."
[I can't imagine how painful it must be to have loving parents… and then suddenly watch them die right in front of my eyes.]
Roxanna let out a soft sigh. Her mind drifted to an image where she saw little Calen living a happy life with his father and mother.
