Chapter 267 - The Catastrophe of Heaven — The Great Power of Causality

For God Himself to let out such a cry—it was enough to imagine just how helpless He had become.

In this brief span of time, His Kingdom of Heaven had been breached, a third of His angelic host had been wiped out, and His vice-regent had been utterly annihilated. Most importantly, He had absolutely no way of dealing with the one responsible for all of it.

The scales had tipped completely against Him. Even if He sacrificed everything He possessed, He still could not restore the balance.

And at this very moment, Zhou Yi was still standing on the other side of the scales, endlessly adding more weight.

Towering into the clouds and standing between heaven and earth, the Radiant King suddenly reached out and seized the void. Stretching his arms as though pushing apart a pair of enormous gates, he exerted his strength.

As his arms pulled outward, the entire Kingdom of Heaven began to tremble.

He was using the power of the Void to tear apart Heaven's spatial dimension.

No matter how much people idealized Heaven, or imagined it to be the most perfect world imaginable, they could never conceal its true nature.

It was, in the end, merely an extradimensional realm—no different in essence from the various layers of Hell.

It could be sealed.

It could be shattered.

It could even be destroyed.

To the Radiant King, who had mastered the mysteries of the Void, Heaven was far from indestructible. At best, it was nothing more than a somewhat larger glass house.

Almost instantly, enormous cracks spread throughout Heaven.

These were not ordinary fissures splitting the earth—they were rifts that connected directly to the endless Void itself.

Anything that came into contact with these void fissures was instantly swallowed into the infinite abyss.

It was true infinity incarnate, capable of devouring all things.

Even Heaven itself began to collapse beneath the power of the Void.

As the ruler of Heaven, Jehovah possessed absolute authority over this dimension.

The spatial rifts appearing throughout Heaven were not, in themselves, the problem.

The real problem was that compared to the Radiant King, who was continuously creating new tears in space, Jehovah simply couldn't erase them quickly enough.

He eliminated countless rifts from His heavenly realm—

Only for countless more to appear almost immediately afterward.

He had already done everything within His power, yet He was utterly unable to stop Heaven from being consumed by the Void.

And worse still, the Radiant King had already arrived before Him, swinging a fist powerful enough to split heaven and earth apart.

Looking at that colossal fist—vast as a mountain and carrying the overwhelming might of a falling comet—Jehovah gritted His teeth and gathered all of His divine power.

Light and holy fire intertwined, forming a giant fist within Heaven that was scarcely smaller than the Radiant King's own.

It met the incoming strike head-on.

The two gigantic fists collided in an instant.

The golden, flame-wreathed iron fist immediately shattered the massive hand of light and holy fire into pieces.

Countless fragments of light and sparks exploded outward, wreaking immeasurable devastation upon the Heaven below.

Streams of light sliced apart palaces and the earth like radiant swords.

Scattered embers of holy fire rained across the land, igniting countless trees, flowers, and buildings.

Together with feathers drifting through the sky and void fissures opening everywhere...

Heaven no longer resembled Heaven in the slightest.

It looked more like the ruins left behind after the apocalypse—

Or perhaps a Hell in the midst of its birth.

In fact, compared to Hell, this place had become even more dangerous, even more terrifying.

Because it was being destroyed.

Jehovah had no time to mourn the miserable state of His Heaven.

Every ounce of His concentration focused upon the Radiant King's fist, whose momentum had not diminished in the slightest.

It was still coming straight for Him.

And now...

He had nowhere left to run.

Under such circumstances, Jehovah clenched His teeth and cried out loudly,

"I said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light."

In an instant, every trace of light throughout Heaven vanished.

Everything before their eyes was swallowed by endless darkness.

Then—

A single point of light suddenly burst into existence directly before the Radiant King's fist.

It was an impure light.

Dim.

Murky.

A sickly yellow radiance carrying the very essence of endings and annihilation.

This had once been the First Light of Creation.

But now, its Creator had reversed its very nature.

It had become the Twilight of Destruction.

Its sole purpose now was to bring true apocalypse upon all things.

The twilight that destroyed all existence condensed into a gloomy beam of light, instantly engulfing the Radiant King's enormous hand.

The scattered light produced by the collision mercilessly annihilated everything it touched.

Palaces became ruins.

The land turned barren.

Trees and flowers withered into death.

Even the angels, beings made of light themselves, perished completely within the twilight.

Like lamps whose flames had been extinguished, their souls could not withstand its corruption.

In an instant, their brilliance faded...

And silently went out forever.

It was an attack that sacrificed friend and foe alike.

To stop the Radiant King's advance, Jehovah had all but abandoned every living being within Heaven.

To Him, they were merely His creations.

And creations existed to serve their Creator.

Compared to Heaven itself—and His own survival—

Those angels were utterly insignificant.

As long as there were believers in the world, souls would continue ascending into Heaven and becoming His angels.

As long as He remained alive...

He would never lack such tools.

He had abandoned His most loyal servants.

Yet the result left Him utterly disappointed.

Although Twilight possessed the power to bring all things to an end...

Against the incarnation of the Radiant King—the Sovereign of Light—it simply had no effect.

After all, it was merely the fading light of dusk.

And how could the light of the setting sun ever harm the sun itself?

It was like passing through flowing water.

Though the Radiant King's body was bathed in Twilight, neither his movement nor his direction changed in the slightest.

He strode straight through it.

And struck.

One punch completely shattered the singularity at the heart of Twilight.

At the same moment—

His second fist hurtled toward Jehovah.

This punch was faster.

More powerful.

Even more overwhelming.

And it filled Jehovah with bone-deep despair.

He no longer believed he could survive this blow.

Nor did he believe the Radiant King intended to stop after only one punch.

Having no other choice, He once again invoked His Authority of Causality.

"I am the Heavenly Father.

I command you—

You shall not harm Me!"

He sought either to nullify the Radiant King's power...

Or make that devastating punch incapable of reaching Him.

But before the Radiant King's straightforward attack...

That wish instantly became a joke.

In that single moment, the Heaven already submerged in boundless darkness erupted with a brilliance like the destruction of countless stars.

A thunderous roar, as awe-inspiring as the very first sound at the birth of the universe, exploded beneath the divine flame-wreathed fist.

Heaven itself was instantly torn apart like a painted scroll.

One half remained engulfed in endless darkness.

The other glowed golden beneath the Radiant King's blazing divine flames.

Countless void fissures spread across it, leaving what had once been Heaven looking utterly shattered.

It was effectively destroyed.

Unless someone could repair it...

This entire dimensional realm would eventually be swallowed by the Void and disappear from history forever.

Looking upon the devastation wrought by his punch, the Radiant King slowly raised his hand.

Beneath his fist...

Something was still alive.

It was Jehovah.

Grievously wounded.

At this moment, Jehovah had almost completely lost His physical form.

He had become light—

A faint, fragile cluster of light flickering silently within the endless darkness, as though it might be extinguished at any moment.

Strictly speaking...

He was already dead.

But His Authority had saved Him.

Known as the Eternal One, He possessed the authority of resurrection.

Just as the Holy Son, Jesus, had risen after death...

Jehovah, though His physical body had been destroyed beneath the Radiant King's devastating blow, had revived in the form of light and returned to the world.

However, unlike those mighty beings who emerged from resurrection stronger than ever, capable of defeating ten opponents at once...

Jehovah was unimaginably weak.

He was little different from how He had been when He first came into existence.

His divine power had been exhausted.

His Authorities had grown dim.

Even His Heaven was on the verge of destruction.

Yet none of those were what frightened Him most.

What terrified Him above all else was that He could feel the power of His Authority of Causality beginning to fade.

The world's corrective force was starting to rebound against Him.

Compared to the other gods of the world, Jehovah had always been exceptionally enthusiastic about expanding His following.

To broaden His faith, He had repeatedly launched wars between gods and religions.

Countless living beings had fallen upon the path of spreading His belief.

And this had always been the thing the other gods found most incomprehensible.

Gods were supposed to desire nothing from humanity.

So why had Jehovah repeatedly waged wars in the name of God merely to compete for something as seemingly meaningless as faith?

Only Jehovah Himself knew the answer.

Within His own doctrine, He had once referred to all who believed in Him as the flock of God's sheep.

The very word sheep represented the position His believers occupied in His heart.

Just as a shepherd shears sheep to create profit for himself...

God harvested faith from His flock to sustain His own interests.

And what He sustained was the immense power of His Authority of Causality.

Causality...

A miraculous power.

A power that cared nothing for the strength one possessed, but only for the extent of one's existence.

Even if your power surpassed that of every god in existence—

If no one knew of you...

If your existence bore little significance to the world...

Then altering your reality was as simple as speaking a single sentence.

But if billions praised you...

Billions cursed you...

Or your very existence was tied to the operation of the world itself...

Then even if you were so weak that you couldn't even stand on your own feet, the Authority of Causality could not alter even the slightest fragment of your reality.

In order to ensure that His Authority of Causality would always stand on the stronger side...

Jehovah chose a different path.

He transformed His own name into a symbol.

He made the majority of the world's people believe in Him.

How many people in the world believed in God?

And how many, when faced with suffering or despair, prayed to Him and begged for His salvation?

Though those prayers were, for the most part, futile...

They nevertheless increased the weight of His existence.

Over thousands of years, the faith of countless believers accumulated into an immeasurable force of existence.

It was through that power that Jehovah became a deity capable of manipulating reality itself as though it rested in the palm of His hand.
