Chapter 268 - God's Retreat, the Bright King Reveals Himself

Even if billions sang his praises, billions prayed to him, and billions remembered his glory and grace, it could not change one fact:

Compared to the sun, he was still pale and fragile—still powerless and insignificant.

Earth's sun had illuminated the planet for more than three billion years, bringing forth countless forms of life and endless vitality. And throughout the universe, there were innumerable other suns doing exactly the same thing.

Nothing else could compare with the greatness of the sun's existence, nor could anything rival the value of its being.

It was the source of life. Silent, requiring no words to prove its magnificence.

Its radiance alone was enough to explain everything. It was a brilliance no fabricated or imagined "light" could ever hope to equal.

Therefore, the moment Jehovah, with his Authority already shattered, still attempted to use the Authority of Causality against the Bright King manifested by Zhou Yi in order to rewrite an irreversible reality, his fate had already been decided.

His Authority shattered completely, teetering on the edge of total collapse.

But that was only the beginning.

The truly terrifying part was the correction and erasure imposed by the laws of the universe themselves.

The law of causality had always been a double-edged sword.

Before, Jehovah had held the hilt and never experienced its sharpness.

Now that the blade had turned against him, regret came far too late.

Countless strands of causality accumulated upon him. He could neither bear them nor withstand them.

With his Authority no longer capable of supporting it, the reality distorted by causality flowed into his body like poison.

Jehovah began forgetting things.

Things of tremendous importance.

His own power.

His Authorities.

How he had displayed divine miracles when he first descended into the mortal world.

How he had left behind his own legends and myths among mankind.

A god never forgot anything it had experienced.

If he truly forgot, then it meant those things had never existed in the first place.

Their very existence had been erased by distorted causality.

And that meant everything he had accomplished over thousands of years had become nothing.

This had always been the outcome Jehovah had desperately tried to avoid.

But today...

He could avoid it no longer.

"No... no... NO! I am the Heavenly Father! I am the supreme God! You cannot do this to me! You cannot!"

"I command you—return! Return!"

One final divine command echoed from the sphere of holy light that Jehovah had become.

It was his final struggle.

His exhausted divinity could no longer drive his shattered, nearly collapsing Authority of Causality.

But by burning his divine status itself...

...he still could.

Divinity was merely the power born from a god's divine status.

That divine status was the true source of a god's strength.

If one were to use an analogy, then divinity was the water, Authority was the device that drew the water, and divine status was the reservoir containing it all.

Now, with his divinity exhausted, Jehovah had no other choice.

He could only shatter his own divine status, using the power at its source to force his broken Authority into action.

Though doing so would inflict irreversible damage upon his very foundation...

...he had no alternative.

Jehovah was God.

The Heavenly Father.

The supreme deity of an entire pantheon.

Even among Earth's gods, his divine status ranked among the highest.

Thus, as he ignited his own origin, boundless divinity burst forth.

That precious divine power flowed into his shattered Authority, and under his will, began trying to rewrite everything happening to him.

But it could not.

The reality that had already been established involved far too many causal connections.

It was no longer something his power could alter.

Attempting to force the change would only cause his Authority to vanish completely—

—and reality itself would become even worse.

So he had no choice but to settle for the next best option.

He directed the power of causality to offset the universe's corrective force.

This time, it achieved some results.

But those results were pitifully small.

He managed to preserve his status.

He preserved the religious order he had spent thousands of years building.

But he could not preserve his power—

—nor the glorious miracles he had once performed.

Deep within his soul, in a place unseen by anyone...

...the Authority of Causality became a blurred shadow before gradually disappearing from within him.

And that was not all.

The Authority of Rebirth.

The Authority of Holy Fire.

The Authority that allowed him to perceive all things and know everything.

The Authority to bestow blessings and strength upon others.

The Authority to judge darkness and heresy.

One after another, they were stripped from his soul.

His power fell to rock bottom.

No—

It plunged even deeper than that.

Although he had preserved his own existence and protected the divine system he had painstakingly built over countless ages...

...the price he paid was unimaginably great.

That price was reflected not only upon himself...

...but throughout the entire real world.

On this day...

Every believer in God across the entire Earth experienced an overwhelming shock to their soul.

Whether Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, or any other Christian denomination...

As long as they sincerely believed in God—

As long as God existed within their hearts—

They all simultaneously felt an indescribable panic.

An inexplicable terror.

And a terrible emptiness rising from the depths of their souls.

It felt as though their faith had been severed.

It was almost impossible to describe with words.

Yet it undeniably existed.

And that was only the spiritual manifestation.

The changes occurring in reality were even more shocking.

On this day...

Every cross atop every church...

Every cross worn as jewelry...

Whether made of wood, metal, or any other material...

Whether it bore the image of Jesus or was merely the simple Christian cross...

Every single one split open down the middle with a massive crack.

It was as though they had all suffered some tremendous injury.

On this day...

The great cathedrals of the Vatican collapsed one after another as though struck by a powerful earthquake.

Whether one believed in God or not...

Everyone realized the same thing.

If God truly existed...

Then something had happened to Him.

And once that realization spread, the entire Western world was thrown into unprecedented turmoil.

The one true God who had ruled the spiritual world of the West for nearly a thousand years...

His first miracle in modern times...

Had been to announce to humanity his own miserable condition.

It was a tragedy beyond words.

Yet it was a reality Jehovah could not conceal.

Reality twisted by causality could only be corrected to this extent.

His power had collapsed.

Without that power to sustain them, everything connected to him naturally began exhibiting corresponding changes.

As for what consequences those changes would bring...

That was no longer something Jehovah had the luxury to consider.

He had only one choice.

And he could only accept it.

Without question, it was a choice he found utterly unacceptable.

Yet it was also one he had no option but to make.

And even after paying such an unbearably heavy price...

He still had to sacrifice even more.

Because the Bright King manifested by Zhou Yi still stood before him.

And he clearly had no intention whatsoever of letting Jehovah go.

After only two punches had left both himself and Heaven in such a catastrophic state...

Jehovah already knew.

He was no match for his opponent.

Though hatred for Zhou Yi filled his heart...

He had no choice but to admit that fact.

At this point, the best course of action was obvious.

Retreat while he still could.

But retreating was not so simple.

The Bright King now spanned three different dimensions.

His feet stood within Lilith's Crimson Sea, where half of Lilith's Hell existed.

Half of his body occupied the dimensional space the witches had spent centuries constructing upon the foundation of Lilith's divinity.

And the remaining upper half...

Stood within Jehovah's Heaven.

A body stretching across three separate worlds—

Only a colossal divine being like the Bright King could possess such supreme might.

And it was precisely that overwhelming divine presence that forced Jehovah to make his decision.

If he wished to survive...

He could only abandon something.

And the only thing he could abandon...

...was this Heaven that had already been split in two and shattered beyond recognition.

Like Lilith and Mephisto, Heaven served as his domain and granted him tremendous power.

Though it was not the source of his existence, it still formed an indispensable part of his strength.

If there had been any possibility...

He would never have abandoned Heaven.

Not even a part of it.

But there was no possibility.

The Bright King's colossal body remained lodged there.

And with mastery over the power of the Void, he was no longer someone Jehovah could expel.

He was more troublesome than any squatter imaginable—

—and infinitely more helpless to deal with.

If Jehovah wished to live...

He had to distance himself from the Bright King and flee with what remained of Heaven.

And to escape...

He had to abandon the half of Heaven occupied by Zhou Yi.

Whether he wished to or not...

The choice had to be made.

And Jehovah made it.

Without hesitation, he abandoned the half of Heaven containing the Bright King and silently fled with the remaining portion into the endless Void.

Within the Void existed billions upon billions of dimensional spaces.

Once he disappeared among them...

Even the Bright King could no longer find him.

No one could locate a single drop of water within the ocean—

Unless they could lock onto that specific drop.

The Bright King possessed such an ability.

But Jehovah was, after all, the master of Heaven.

As he fled, he erased every trace of the Bright King's power from his domain.

There was nothing left that could be tracked.

Since he had chosen to escape...

He naturally left behind no clues.

The Bright King had no way to pursue him.

Nor was there any need.

Jehovah was no longer worthy of his attention.

Even if he appeared again...

He would pose no threat.

Now that Zhou Yi had fully obtained divine power, he possessed absolute confidence in that fact.

Besides...

He now faced a far greater problem.

With half of Heaven gone, the dimension containing the Bright King's upper body had become utterly unstable.

Thanks only to Zhou Yi's Void power, the remaining fragment of Heaven barely maintained its structure before he gathered it into the palm of his hand.

But doing so created an enormous new problem.

With Heaven gone...

The witches' dimension could no longer withstand the Bright King's colossal divine body.

In only an instant...

The entire dimension shattered completely.

Even before it collapsed, Lilith had wisely sealed off her own Hell.

Without another dimension to share the burden, even Hell could not withstand the Bright King's existence.

There was no reason for her to sacrifice herself.

And that meant...

The Bright King—

The god Zhou Yi had transformed into—

Suddenly appeared in the real world.

A colossal giant towering like the pillar supporting heaven itself.

Standing high above countless drifting clouds.

His flame-wreathed head stretched beyond the atmosphere itself.

What kind of scene was that?

No one could describe it.

Because at that moment...

Countless people witnessed his existence with their own eyes.

And every one of them fell into boundless shock.
