Ok I've decided that this is stupid. Maybe a stronger person would be able to hold out longer but clearly I'm not that strong. That's the point. Without the wand I'm weak. So I'm going to get it back, regardless of what Lancelot has to say about it. I also just need something to take my mind off the whole Lilith thing. I think I was in the right in that situation. But if that's the case then why are there a bunch of medieval looking knights waiting for me outside of my room? And why do they have machine guns? Wouldn't it make more sense for them to have swords and shields? They even have those purple feather things sticking out of their helmets. I planned to go and find the captain myself but it seems she's making her way here. Not like I could go given theses guys are surrounding me and a talking cat. I have idea where Misty of Satoshi have gone. If they decided to get out of dodge I wouldn't blame them.
"I don't suppose this is food delivery." Allister quips like it's the time for that. The knights don't appreciate his sarcasm if their super expressive masks are anything to go by. And now he's got me doing it.
"Stand down men. There's no point detaining the horned one. His feline companion is the only present threat." Ouch. Lancelot has only just entered the scene and I've already been shot in the chest. Her confidence and power is apparent even in something as simple as her steps. That crazy biological cape somehow only adds to the effect when I know it should disgust me. I can even hear the moist tentacles squishing together, I hate it so much. The knights move to opposite sides of the hallway, creating a clear path for Lancelot to travel down. Allister pounced in front of me, front legs stretched out in an attempt to intimidate the new arrival with his claws and hissing.
"Um, fancy seeing you here." I smile with confidence but betray myself by looking down. The low hum of the cat beneath us might have even drowned out my mumbles.
"I doubt it counts as a novelty. I own this vessel after all. And you are a guest here, it is not surprising that our paths would frequently cross." I mean she's right I guess. "I was hoping you could assist me in locating Lilith. She released a massive amount of power and threatened the ships integrity. While that power disappeared quickly, I find it incredibly suspicious that she would alert our enemies to our location. And in your room nonetheless." I think she hears the gulp I try to suppress. Which is surprising to me at least because her tone of voice doesn't sound accusatory at all. If anything it's gentle, like a teacher trying to help a student with a difficult subject. "Can you tell me where she's gone?" A protected hand stretches out, encouraging me to take it. I almost do but hesitate and pull back.
"I can't." It's only for a second but I can tell how that came out. "I mean I don't know where she went!" I quickly try to save myself.
"If you really are like your sisters, it can't be that difficult for you to locate her." Allister growls. Does he not like her as well? Not that it really matters, I'm not responsible for what he does. Otherwise I'd be responsible for a lot of horrible stuff and we are NOT doing that.
"It is unsurprising that you would be so ill informed about our abilities. But disappointed would be a more apt term. To have spent so much time around my sisters and be able to make such comical blunders is a sad sight indeed." Ok I know for a fact he just felt the heart stab thing.
"What's that supposed to mean?!" His hair stands up like a porcupine. "I'm sorry that I was too busy supporting your sisters to notice! It's better than abandoning them to play dress up!".
"And this wouldn't count as such a betrayal?" She calmly gestures to him and then the surrounding area, the message clear.
"Why yo-"
"I could sense the life force of almost anyone on this planet if I chose to, it's not difficult" she harshly cuts him off. "But a woman who is aware of her own life force will obviously be more tricky to track down, as she can conceal herself in ways impossible for someone like you." All of a sudden she raises a single finger. My feet leave the ground as I float a few feet in the air.
"Woahahh!" I spin around like a floating duck if that floating duck was also a deflated balloon attached to a string. Lancelot walks away and I unwillingly float behind her. Allister hurries behind and keeps tapping but I don't hear it over my failed attempts to stay upright. No one we pass by mentions it which leads me to believe that this happens often. So maybe this place isn't as professional as if first appeared.
"If my sisters have sensed our location." She doesn't stop walking and doesn't pay attention to my very normal sounding float noises. "Then we are all in grave danger." Oh great, now there's guilt building up in my stomach. I wasn't in the wrong! Lilith was!
"So we will have to take preventative measures." From an unseen pocket she pulls out a small button. With a single push the lights on the ceiling turn red. That is the only change that I can notice at least. But everyone gets the message, whatever it is. She then turns to Allister, who hasn't given up his pursuit. "I'm aware this may seem like an encouragement for an escape attempt. Do not mistake your privileges for an offer to leave." Allister backs down before the knights authority.
"Is someone coming? Is that what the red is for?" I finally manage to stay upright.
"Yes. It is most likely that Morrigan and your father are heading this way. That is why we must evacuate you as soon as possible." Wait what?
"No! There's no way I can run away at a time like this!" I yell at her. I can't see her expression behind that helmet.
"If they find you here that would be the same as the end of our fight." She continues to walk. "We have no options besides getting you away.".
"There is another option though! Give me my wand back! With it I can fight!" If I'm being completely honest, even I don't know how much of that is true and how much of it is an act of manipulation on my part.
"No. Even ignoring the catastrophic consequences of such a course of action, you do not possess the power to defeat them.".
"I'm only weak because I'm still like this! Just give me back the wand and j can show you how powerful I am!" I feel out of breath but I keep going, even ignoring the pink fire. "Look, if your so worried that I'll transform, then kill me if it looks like I'll do it!" Even with the mask I can see that shook her.
"What the hell are you talking about?!" Allister yells with a clear sense of urgency and fear. I really appreciate that.
"You'd really stake your life for something so trivial? Perhaps you are more selfish then I originally predicted. But if you truly mean those words, then I shall honor your promise.".
