Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: The Act Begins

"I'll be gone for an hour so try to hold on." Andrew said, his figure reaching for his trench coat before stepping in the sleek luxurious car parked in front of the mansion before driving off. Lara watched the car drive off, her face heavy as she headed back inside.

It wasn't long before the periodic head aches hit her, she let out a painful groan as she headed for the kitchen and pouring herself a cup of water.

*Gulp*

Still with the cup jugged down the pain didn't stop. 'What the hell is going on? Is there something wrong with the water or what?' She asked herself as she last night when the altercation had occurred.

*Thud*

Her figure collapsed to the floor, her body heating up before she quickly fell unconscious, the glass rolling on the floor.

. . .

"He's here." Brittany smiled as she made her way to the front door, the sound of Andrew's car falling silent. "Andrew! I missed you so much!" Her arms wrapped around Andrew's neck an ear to ear smile plastered on her face. "My dad has some questions for you and so do I." The two heading inside before appearing in front of Callahan in his office. "Andrew, please take a seat." Callahan's tone flat, his eyes locked on Andrew's figure.

"I'm sure that you're a smart person and know why I told you to come here so let's skip the pleasantries. Do you know what is going on in the world?" Andrew looked at Callahan before his focus drifted to Brittany seated next to him. "It's the beginning of an act Mr Callahan and I'm afraid that you aren't accounted for in the game."

Callahan's gaze intensified, Brittany inwardly both puzzled and intrigued. "What do you mean act? What does that mean?" Andrew clasped his hands, his posture melting easily into his chair as if it was his. "An act is something I don't have to explain to you Callahan. As for any of your questions, I won't bother in answering them either."

The air fell silent before a low chuckle echoed through the air. "The last time I checked Andrew, you're a wanted man and I'm sure the authorities will be more than thrilled to have you in their custody." Andrew flashed no fear, the air around him calm as ever. "Come on dad, there's no way that you'd actually do something like that. Andrew's not stupid so such tactics won't work on him. I know from experience what works with him and what doesn't."

Brittany chimed in with her measured smile. Callahan's eyes flickered between Brittany and Andrew, aware that they would be nothing more than head aches to deal with. 'I guess it won't give me any advantage to treat the two like children given what they are capable of. More so Andrew.' He cleared his throat, adjusting his posture. "Then let me reorganize myself then."

A gun flashed in Callahan's hand, it's muzzle aimed at Andrew.

*Bang*

The silenced shot landed on Andrew's shoulder however the lack of reaction from Andrew subtly unnerved her. 'Looks like he really isn't human like Brittany had said.' Andrew rose to his feet, adjusting his collar as if blood wasn't trickling from his shoulder blade and down his coat. "I'll be taking my leave Callahan. Have a nice day."

He didn't wait for a response as he left the office only to be cut off by Brittany in the hall. "Wait, what exactly do you know about all of this? You don't have to tell me everything however it would be great for me to keep on playing with you better." Andrew looked at Brittany, this time his gaze was colder than usual.

"You're stepping out of line Brittany, should you fail to behave then I won't hesitate on killing you." His words did nothing to deter Brittany as she inched closer, her smile present. "You…kill me? I would like to see you-"

A sharp and focused pain assaulted her on her abdomen which made her let out a faint groan. Looking down, a scalpel could be seen slide out of her flesh, unheld as it drifted back to Andrew's hand. "You actually…" Callahan who had come out of his office saw the scene. "Andrew!" His gun aimed at Andrew's head but the shot meant to splatter his brain never quite reached it's target as Andrew stopped in an inch from his head.

*Clink*

The caseless bullet fell to the ground before a glimmer flashed in Callahan's eyes. "Gah!" The same scalpel that had torn through Brittany was hurled at Callahan, grazing him by his neck forcing him to drop his gun. Andrew drifted his gaze back to Brittany who was crumpling to the floor, a look of disbelief marked on her face.

With a thought Andrew recalled the scalpel back to him before slitting his wrist. The blood oozed out and found it's way into Brittany's mouth, the lady slowly passing out. Andrew picked her up off the floor and carried her in a princess manner and heading out of the mansion and back to his car.

Callahan was forced to watch Andrew make his escape with Brittany, the blood that he was losing at a rapid pace forcing him to back to his office and use the first aid in his drawer. 'I can't believe that he was capable of something like that! But if he kidnapped Brittany that would mean that he needs something out of me and is using her as leverage on me.' He fell into silence, his jaw tightening. 'Does he know that I was the one behind….No. There's no way he would know something like that.'

The bandage slowly stained with blood. "I can't just let him leave like this but if I don't have this injury treated then I'll die before I do anything of use." With a bitter murmur, he rose from his chair and dragged himself to his car before driving to the hospital. By now the car Andrew had come with was already gone.

. . .

Andrew made it back to his home, his face calm as millpond. To the kitchen floor he saw Lara sprawled on the floor, unconscious however there was no sense of urgency in his actions as he took Brittany to a private room in the mansion before attending to Lara. With his cut from Brittany, he reopened it once more and forced Lara to drink his blood. "Mmmhhh~~" Lara moaned as she sucked his blood before she saw what she was doing.

"Andrew!" She cried out, backing away from him. Her reactions akin to a bewildered animal in the face of something it couldn't understand and backed up due to fear. "Your arm! Don't tell me that I was drinking your blood!" She began to spit out his blood, Andrew watched her regain her senses before standing up. "You need my blood to survive Lara, to deal with the head aches now and for any form of progress later on."

Lara glanced Andrew with an expression of shock and disgust. "Ugh! No wonder the water wasn't doing anything!" Her figure bending over in the sink and drinking the tap water, trying to get rid of any remaining tang of Andrew's blood in her mouth. She turned around, still unsure of what she was looking at. "I've prepared a bath for you upstairs in my room. I would encourage you that you don't delay."

Her heart was calming down, the pain that throbbed in her head melting away as she began to properly get a grasp of her surroundings. "You don't have to hide so much stuff from me! What if in the future I fall into a situation like that and you aren't there? Am I supposed to bear that or what?!" Her tone full of conviction while Andrew washed his wrist, any remaining blood staining his skin gone.

"You should be able to bear with it later on but for now, feel free to take as much blood as possible." She paused, her eyes narrowing on Andrew. "The three doors. What do they mean?" Her breathes growing shallower, still maintaining her distance from Andrew. "I won't tell you everything Lara as it would be best to have you see it for yourself but I'll tell you about that. The three doors are shaped from a person's greatest desire."

Her eyes narrowed, her hairs on end as she looked at Andrew like an intruder that barged in her house. "What does the black door mean?" Andrew paused, unsure of whether to divulge but went on anyway. "The black door is a manifestation of the person's trauma or guilt. The person has heavy emotions I their minds and the black door is meant to act as a gateway to what they wish for, the abyss." His words casual with his hands pocketed.

A look of confusion wound up on her face, still processing what he said. "What do you mean heavy emotions?" Andrew looked away from her, outside facing the sky that promised heavy downpour. "We both know why the black door formed from what I've told you Lara so there's no need of you to play dumb. I'll be waiting for you to be done with your bath."

His figure leaving the kitchen and heading upstairs. She watched him leave, her heart rate picking up as she looked at her own hands. 'Heavy emotions? It would make sense for a person like me then.' With a sigh, she made her way upstairs to the promised bath which to her surprise wasn't a regular bath but one she would be drenched in blood, Andrew's blood.

"What the fuck is this?" She inquired as she saw Andrew fill the tub with his own blood. "The bath, get in already." The calmness of his tone made her seem like a lunatic but her mind was sure with what she was seeing. "There's no fucking way I'm dipping myself in your blood! Even if you force me Andrew, it's not happening!"

Her hands crossed as Andrew retracted his hands over the tub. "You will have to take this bath, consider this as a ritual of sorts, for you to ease your headaches because it will only get worse with time. I promise you." Adamant with her decision, Andrew didn't force her and drained his blood. "When you're ready, tell me." His words calm as he left the room. Lara was still baffled with what he wanted her to do. 'Is he mentally sane or not? There's no way that I would be swimming in blood.'

. . .

Brittany woke up, the walls around her small and the floor cold. "Andrew!! What the fuck is this!!" Her tone laced with bitterness before a set of footsteps echoed in her ears. The source however didn't talk as he opened the small panel and slid something that elicited a face of disgust out of Brittany. "Is that a fucking human heart?!" She asked, kicking the plate back and the content spilling on the floor.

She got no answers as the footsteps faded. Hours turned into a day and Brittany quickly grew hungry for not just regular sustenance but for Andrew's blood as well. 'These freaks actually want me to eat this?!' Her eyes drifted to the heart on the floor in her barely illuminated room. It wasn't big, barely enough room for her to make a dash with a bed, toilet and the food served to her human hearts.

*Three days later*

'Maybe there is no other choice for me to eat other than this disgusting heart. So this is how those people kidnapped must have felt. This is nothing short of degrading for a person of high caliber like me!' Her hand shaking reached out to the heart, the same dished to her three days ago which had now began to rot and wither. 'I can't believe that I have to eat this but I am so fucking hungry!' She cursed in her mind the people who were keeping her captive. Her lips parted albeit slow, barely suppressing her urge to gag and took a small bite of the heart.

"It's fucking disgusting!" She shouted, letting the heart drop to the floor in a soft plop. "Eat!" The voice on the other side of the door urged, Brittany easily recognized that it was Andrew. "Andrew! Get me the fuck out of here!"
