Oscar found himself compelled to meet the duo at the location they had requested. A pretty normal sized house by a beach. He rode a horse by himself on the way there, something he was not used to. Due to this, he got lost a few times.
While he was traveling there, he couldn't get Alize's warmth out of his head. It was embarrassing. During a funeral, despite the death of his general, along with his cadets, he couldn't get the strange fuzzy feeling out of his head.
Stupid teenage hormones… He thought.
"Wow. You really came," Jisvo sized Oscar up, presenting a nervous smile.
"What did you expect?" Oscar asked.
"… I'm not sure. Never mind. That was a bit rude of me. Come follow me."
The brown man lead Oscar toward the backyard of his home, beyond the patio. While the front of the house faced a receding shore, the backyard faced a deep forest. Sitting on a chair in the backyard, was the familiar woman, Isalda van Mahaut.
. .
"This might be hard, but I need you to think about the moment when your general hard. That might sound harsh, but you need to feel the same emotions. Upon feeling the same emotions, it'll start to make sense to you."
The two boys, Oscar Tolien and Jisvo, sat across each other, cross legged. They were hand in hand, and their eyes were closed. Isalda watched quietly.
I have no intention of becoming queen.
But, I do care about this kingdom.
Creating a strong soldier like Oscar will bring only good things for this country.
To be honest, I couldn't care less about the general who died, as bad as it sounds.
!
Suddenly, a gust of wind caught Isalda off guard.
Her eyes fell on the two.
Ice grew in Oscar's hair, and his skin grew pale. On the other hand, Jisvo's body was wrapped in yellow lightning, crackling wildly.
They both opened their eyes.
"Right now, you're utilizing your elemental mana to strengthen yourself. It isn't the state that you were in when you fought the Iron Vanguard, but we're getting there."
Oscar stood up, releasing his grip from Jisvo's hands. He stared at Jisvo.
It's because of our Aeloan connection that he activated as well. That's what it seems to be.
Oscar then stared at his hands.
I feel lighter.
This feeling is not quite the same as my fragmented memories of that event, but it's similar…
"Now…"
Ksh!
Jisvo's foot aimed at Oscar's stomach, sending him aback.
"Keuk!-"
The strike was quick, catching Oscar off guard.
The ice in his hair was starting to melt, and his skin was beginning to regain it's original color.
"Focus, Oscar! Or else, you'll lose that Aeloan energy."
Oscar nodded.
His brows burrowed, and the ice froze back again. His skin grew pale.
"Come at me, Oscar!" Jisvo yelled, an ambitious grin on his face.
[Cast: Ice Shard]
It was seamless, now. Oscar felt no trouble casting his ice spells.
The shard of ice glided through the air, heading toward Jisvo.
He craned his neck, narrowly avoiding the shard.
Then, Jisvo leaped toward Oscar.
Bsh!
He threw a heavy punch, which Oscar narrowly avoided.
Right now, he had to focus on maintaining this state, and fighting.
[Cast: Verglas Rising Pillar]
The floor grew cold.
Without warning, thick rectangles of pure ice erected.
Jisvo somersaulted backward, avoiding the rising strike.
Amidst his movement, there was an opening!
Hah.
[Cast: Glacier Spear]
Oscar's muscular arm winded back, throwing the spear with intense force.
[Cast: Lightning Flashstep]
Jisvo flickered.
His body was one place, then another.
The ice spear shot through an apparition. An afterimage.
Fast! Oscar racked his thoughts, opening his eyes to try to gather more visual information.
Bsh!
A strike landed on Oscar's chin. His head flew left.
Bsh!
Another one. This strike came from below, sending his head upward.
Oscar stared at the sky. It was beautiful today.
Jisvo prepared another strike, his arm winding back.
Bsh!
However, this time, Oscar was prepared. Jisvo's lightning amplified movements were quick, and his eyes could barely catch up with it. So he predicted, and prepared.
Jisvo's fist landed roughly into Oscar's palm.
[Cast: Freeze]
A-A new technique… Oscar had used the cast without even realizing.
Quickly, Jisvo's hand was covered in ice. It spread through his body, freezing everything but his head.
"…"
I- I did it…
Crsh!
Jisvo released the lightning that lingered on his body. The ice shattered, and he lunged at Oscar, grabbing him by the collar.
E-even without the Aeloan burst, he's still fast!
Oscar was subdued. The ice in his hair melted completely, leaving his white strands wet.
"Not bad, kid. For a warm up spar, you did pretty well," Jisvo claimed.
"It's even more impressive that he can maintain that state throughout such a hot season," Isalda added.
She had already stood up from her seat, and walked toward the two boys. She stretched a hand out. Oscar hesitantly grabbed it, pulling him up.
"Thank you, both of you. For the compliments, and for giving me the chance to grow stronger."
Oscar sighed. He wanted to be strong, so badly. Right now, that is what he wanted more than anything.
"Oh, there's a few things you should know. This is simply you expressing your elemental mana physically. Eventually, you will hear the name of your true Aeloan technique. Once you hear the name, you'll have the first stage. Stage 2, you've probably already awakened it, but you didn't hear the name."
"So, when will I learn the name of my Aeloan technique?"
"When it reveals itself to you," Jisvo whispered.
Jeez. So ominous for what?
Jisvo laughed.
