Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Something New

Two months had passed since Arin opened his eyes in this world.

Fifty-eight days of work, silence, and steady breathing.

The city moved like a machine — people running for buses, shouting at markets, eating noodles on street corners. And in the middle of it all, Arin lived a quiet, invisible life.

He woke at dawn, worked until sunset, ate, slept, and repeated.

Every second, his strength rose — unseen, unstoppable, endless.

By now, his Combat Power had long passed five million.

He didn't train. He didn't meditate.

He simply existed, and the world itself seemed to feed him.

One evening, as the sun bled into the horizon, Arin walked home through the back streets. He had just finished another day at the site, his clothes covered in dust and dried cement. The workers joked behind him, calling it a day.

He didn't look back.

His steps slowed near an empty lot filled with rubble.

Something in his chest pulsed — a strange rhythm, not like a heartbeat but like an echo.

The System came alive.

[Blackstar System Notice:]

Power threshold reached.

Processing external link between soul and meteorite fragment…

New ability unlocked.

Skill Unlocked: Absorb (Lv. 1)

> Convert any contacted matter into Qi or CP.

Efficiency scales with target's density and vitality.

Side Effects: None detected.

Arin froze.

The blue letters shimmered faintly before fading.

He stared at his hand — it felt the same. But deep inside, he could sense something new, something hungry. Like a hollow space waiting to be filled.

"…Absorb," he whispered.

The word triggered something. His right palm glowed faintly — black light, smooth and quiet, swirling like liquid shadow.

A nearby piece of broken brick caught his eye. He crouched and touched it.

The moment his fingers brushed the surface, the brick began to fade — slowly, grain by grain, as if melting into the air.

Within seconds, it was gone. No dust, no trace.

The System chimed again.

[+13 Qi]

[+13 CP]

Arin's eyes narrowed. "It works."

He stood, staring at his hand. The glow faded, leaving no mark.

It didn't feel like destruction. It felt… natural. Like returning something borrowed to where it belonged.

For the next hour, he stayed in the empty lot, testing quietly.

Small rocks. Rusted pipes. Wood. Leaves.

Each one vanished into nothing under his touch, feeding his power. The gains were small — single digits, sometimes hundreds if the object was dense.

But the concept was terrifying.

He could turn the world into strength.

Later that night, Arin sat on his apartment floor, back against the wall, the faint city lights flickering through the window. His mind was quiet, but his chest burned with questions.

He looked at his reflection — the same calm face, the same steady eyes.

But deep within those eyes, something darker had started to wake.

He summoned the Status Window again.

He exhaled softly. The numbers looked unreal, but they didn't lie.

This world — this Dragon Ball universe — was a place where gods destroyed planets for sport.

And now, somewhere in the cracks of its history, a human with infinite life and infinite growth had begun to stir.

The next morning, Arin returned to work as usual.

But something was different. The world looked fragile — every wall, every beam, every living thing shimmered faintly to his senses, like threads of energy waiting to be touched.

He didn't plan to use the skill again, not yet.

Not until he understood what it could do… and what it might cost.

Still, he couldn't ignore one simple truth that echoed in his mind:

> "If everything can be absorbed… does that mean even gods can disappear?"

He smiled faintly, almost amused at his own thought, then picked up his helmet and walked toward the half-built tower.

The city roared around him — alive, bright, unaware.

And deep inside his calm heart, the infinite fire kept growing.
