The sun rose quietly over West City, washing Capsule Corp in gold. Birds circled in the clear sky—calm, peaceful, unaware of the storm that simmered beneath the building's reinforced walls.
Inside the gravity chamber, the sound of impact echoed.
Boom. Boom. Boom!
Goku dodged a black-tinged fist that whistled past his face, the shockwave alone cracking the reinforced floor beneath them. Arin followed it up with a sweeping kick, black energy trailing behind like fire.
"Good! Keep your focus steady," Goku shouted, blocking the strike with one hand. "But don't let that dark energy take over your rhythm—make it yours!"
Arin gritted his teeth. His gauntlet-formed arm gleamed as it met Goku's palm, sparks flying from the collision. The ground trembled with each exchange.
Every second, the Black Core inside him pulsed, whispering.
> [Consume. Absorb. Grow.]
The voice was faint, seductive. The longer he fought, the louder it became.
Goku could feel the change. The kid's movements were growing sharper—stronger—but more chaotic.
"Arin!" Goku warned, ducking another swing. "Control your breath! You're feeding it too much!"
Arin blinked sweat from his eyes, focusing. His vision darkened for an instant—and suddenly he wasn't seeing Goku anymore. He saw something else. Stars collapsing. Worlds dissolving. An endless void, filled with the same black mist that now flowed from his hands.
The Core pulsed again, harder.
> [Hunger level rising: 38%. Suppression required.]
"Not… now!" Arin roared. His aura exploded outward, swallowing the chamber in darkness.
The lights shattered. The floor cracked under the pressure of his Qi and CP, which surged like a tidal wave—his doubled passive gains accelerating as the Black Core drew more from his surroundings.
Goku floated back, eyes wide. His power's multiplying by the second… but it's unstable.
Arin's eyes glowed crimson. The metallic gauntlet reformed over both hands now, dark veins of energy crawling up his arms.
He clenched his fists and vanished.
BOOM!
The next moment, Goku blocked a blow that sent shockwaves rippling across the entire city's perimeter shield.
Vegeta appeared at the edge of the arena, arms crossed but aura flaring. "You let him fight in the gravity room? Idiot! The brat's power is leaking!"
Goku grinned despite the chaos. "I know, Vegeta. But if he's gonna control that power, he has to push against it."
Arin roared, the air distorting around him. His fists blurred, faster than human sight, striking like twin meteors. Goku parried, countered, and sent a light shockwave to push Arin back.
"Focus, kid!" Goku's voice cut through the roaring power. "You're not a monster. You're you! Remember that!"
For a brief second, those words reached him.
Arin froze, breathing heavily. The black energy around him flickered—unstable, uncertain.
> [Warning: Suppression Failing.]
[Initiating self-regulation.]
The Black Core pulsed—and suddenly the mist was drawn back inside his body, like a breath inhaled by the universe itself. The chamber fell silent.
Arin collapsed to his knees, panting. The metallic gauntlets faded, his arms trembling.
Goku landed in front of him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Not bad. You're getting better at pushing it down."
Arin gave a weak chuckle. "Better? It almost swallowed me again."
Goku smiled. "Yeah. But you didn't let it. That's what matters."
From the observation deck, Bulma and Gohan were monitoring everything.
"His readings… they're incredible," Bulma whispered. "Every time he suppresses that energy, his body adapts—his Qi density doubles momentarily before stabilizing."
Gohan frowned. "That means his system is learning to control corruption through stress… like it's alive."
Down below, Arin sat cross-legged, closing his eyes.
Inside his consciousness, he could see the Black Core again—still pulsing, now calmer, quieter.
But something had changed. There was a crack on its surface, faint but visible.
Through it, he saw light—silver, pure, untouched by darkness.
And within that light, a whisper not from the Core, but from something else.
> "Balance can only exist when both hunger and restraint coexist. You are neither light nor dark, Arin. You are the bridge."
He didn't understand it, but it felt… right.
When he opened his eyes again, the black aura had faded entirely. Only calm, steady power remained.
Vegeta smirked. "Hmph. At least he's not screaming anymore."
Goku laughed. "Hey, he's learning fast! You sure you weren't like that when you were a kid?"
Vegeta scoffed. "Don't push it, Kakarot."
Arin stood, finally steady on his feet. "Thank you… Goku. Vegeta."
Goku grinned. "Don't thank us yet. You've got a long way to go. That hunger inside you? It's not gone. You'll need to keep training, or it'll eat you from the inside out."
Arin nodded slowly. "Then I'll keep fighting. I'll master it… or die trying."
The Black Core pulsed once more, faintly.
> [Hunger Level Stabilized: 15%]
[Power Class: Mid-Tier 1 → Rising.]
[Warning: Unknown entity resonating beyond the Crack detected.]
Arin's eyes widened slightly. The crack… it's still open?
Far beyond the atmosphere, unseen by anyone, a faint tear shimmered in space. Through it, a pair of crimson eyes watched silently.
And they smiled.
