Mo Jinchen walked into the assigned room the brigade had given him. The single bedroom and small kitchen he had wouldn't be enough for his new wife. He had to think of a way to buy a house for her. He went right to the phone on the desk. He dreaded telling his parents, but Commander Mo was in a position to push the report. The phone rang twice before it was picked up.
"Commander Mo speaking."
"Father, I have an incident to report and I need your help."
"Report." Mo Jinchen took a deep breath before telling his very conservative father about what had occurred this afternoon.
"Earlier this afternoon, I witnessed an attempt on General Lin Jinkai's daughter, Lin Yue. As I was close enough, I rendered aide. In the process of saving miss Lin, I had to resuscitate her. Due to proprietary reasons I need to submit a marriage report."
His report was met with silence for a few seconds. "How is miss Lin now?"
"Safe, her head was injured but the doctor said she will be okay and she hurt her back when she was thrown in the river. But other than that, she is going to be alright. Her parents are expecting me in a few days to discuss the marriage."
"Hold off on going until I arrive, we will go together with your mother to give them a proper explanation. I will personally oversee the investigation, I am assuming you didn't catch the assailant?"
"No sir, I was more focused on rescuing miss Lin."
"Very well, give me what you found when I get there, I will take over. Have the Lin family submit a list of people with any grudge against them. Big or small, I want names."
"Yes, sir."
"I will tell your mother, she will make a list for the bride price, anything you want to add?"
Mo Jinchen thought for a moment then smiled. "I plan to buy her gifts myself. I have several ideas for what she would like. She had a skill in embroidery so I plan to focus on that. She prefers classical cheongsams and jewelry. My little bride is an old soul in a delicate body. The wedding will be in a classic theme with red dress and the tea ceremony." Mo Long hummed then spoke again. "I will inform your mother. What about the wedding house? Any thoughts on where to live?"
"I will ask around and see if there is a house for sale, if not, I will have to buy land then build it to her preferences. Everything is what she wants. I will not short change her in this." "Very well, I will see you in a few days. Son, I expect a report on your investigation into this attempt on her life."
