CHAPTER: The Day of Black Sun – Eclipse of the Heart
The clouds over the Fire Nation capital hung low and heavy, as if the world sensed what was coming.
Robert tightened his dark armor, ponytail swinging behind him, wolf mask at his side. He could feel the shift in the air — the eclipse approaching.
Azula stood beside him adjusting her own armor, golden eyes focused and sharp. But beneath that sharpness was pressure — the weight of perfection.
"Azula," Robert said softly, "we'll handle whatever happens. Together."
She didn't look at him, but her voice softened by a fraction.
"I know."
It was the first sign that today wasn't just a battle — it was a turning point.
---
⚔️ The Invasion Begins
Alarms sounded through the capital. Ty Lee flipped onto the balcony.
"Invasion! They're coming by sea!"
Mai sighed. "Great. Noise."
Azula strode forward, fireless determination burning in her eyes.
"If they want a war, we will give them one."
Robert stepped beside her.
"You're not facing it alone."
She glanced at him, a tiny spark in her gaze — trust, affection, something deeper she couldn't name yet.

🔥 Eclipse Approaches — Azula's Fear Shows
Deep in the bunker tunnels, the last sliver of sunlight faded.
Blue fire guttered out in Azula's palm.
Black fire died in Robert's hand.
Silence.
Azula stiffened — truly stiffened — the fear she never let anyone see bleeding through for a heartbeat.
Robert touched her shoulder gently.
"I've got you."
She turned to him, eyes wide and honest.
"…Don't leave me."
"I won't," he promised.
And he meant it.
---
🎭 The Chase Through the Tunnels
Azula moved like a shadow, taunting and dodging Team Avatar without fighting — it was all a distraction, just like the original timeline.
But this time Robert was there, unseen above them, blocking off exits and guiding her, protecting her with pure skill instead of bending.
Toph stomped. "There's TWO of them! One up in the ceiling!"
Aang gasped. "Who—who is that guy?!"
Robert dropped in front of them like a phantom wolf.
"You won't touch her. Not today."
They fought — but Robert wasn't trying to win.
He was trying to buy her time.
And he succeeded.
Azula called out, "Robert! Come!"
He sprang away, following her deeper into the tunnels.
---
🌑 Eclipse Chamber — The Trap Closes
Just like in the show, Azula lured them into a dead-end room.
She perched on a stone like a queen on a throne.
Robert stood beside her, mask off now, breathing calm and steady.
"You can't bend," Sokka said.
"You're cornered," Toph added.
Azula smiled—
But then, for a fraction of a second, the smile cracked.
Her mask slipped.
Robert saw it immediately — the uncertainty she hid from the world.
And he stepped closer, placing himself slightly in front of her.
Toph heard the shift and frowned. "Hey—he's protecting her."
Aang blinked. "But… why?"
Robert didn't answer.
Because the answer was standing right behind him, staring at him like he was the only thing that made sense anymore.
When the eclipse began to fade and sunlight returned, Robert caught Azula's wrist before she rushed forward.
"Don't," he whispered. "You don't need to hurt them to win."
She froze.
Then let her hand fall.
A small act.
A massive change.
---
🏳️ After the Battle — Robert Saves Her
Once the invasion collapsed and the forces retreated, Azula walked alone onto a balcony overlooking the sea. She stood too close to the railing, shaking from exhaustion and the emotional weight she refused to acknowledge.
A loose stone gave way beneath her foot—
—and she slipped.
"Azula!"
Robert lunged, grabbing her wrist just in time.
Her feet hung over the drop, eyes wide in rare fear.
He pulled her up and held her against him, heart pounding hard.
"You okay?" he breathed.
Azula stared up at him, chest rising and falling.
"N-No… I… I almost—"
"You're safe," he whispered. "I won't let anything happen to you."
Her hands tightened in his armor.
No princess mask.
No perfection.
Just Azula.
Just a girl who'd never been saved before.
"…Why did you risk yourself for me?" she whispered.
"Because I—"
He swallowed.
"Because I care about you."
Azula froze.
Then stepped closer, eyes softening like melting blue flame.
"No one has ever cared about me," she said quietly. "Not without wanting something in return."
"I don't want anything," Robert said. "Just you."
Azula's breath hitched.
"…Robert… I think—" She hesitated, trembling slightly. "I think I like you."
"I like you too."
The words hung between them like spark-igniting tinder.
Azula leaned in.
Robert met her halfway.
Their kiss was soft, trembling, warm — her first true moment of vulnerability, his first moment of belonging in this world.
Teen-rated, gentle, emotional — but powerful.
When they parted, Azula rested her forehead against his.
"Don't leave me," she whispered again.
"I'm right here," he said. "Always."
For the first time in her life…
Azula believed it.
