Chapter 350 - Chapter 342: Long Time No See

Inside the island's underground fortress, Spencer was staying in a luxurious room, savoring the fine wine before him.

In this doomsday bunker, Spencer finally felt a sense of security.

But this sense of security was only temporary, because he knew that if he could not eliminate Toru within the remaining three months of his term, he would definitely be hunted down by Toru afterward.

Therefore, these three months were of utmost importance. He had to use all his resources and energy to completely kill Toru.

"Not just Adam, but also his so-called relatives, his brothers and sisters. Everyone must die!"

Spencer's eyes were filled with hateful rage. Only by killing all of Toru's blood relatives could he quench the hatred in his heart.

As for Japan's number one political family, in the eyes of Spencer, the CIA Director, they were nothing but nonsense. He could simply fabricate an excuse and eliminate them on the grounds of endangering U.S. national security.

Spencer blamed everything on Toru, believing that the reason he had ended up in such a state was entirely because of him.

If he had accepted that mission, if Toru had killed the Former President, none of this would have happened.

He, Spencer, would have become a hero of the Democratic Party, continued to sit in the Director's position, and even had the chance to run for president in the future, climbing to the peak of power.

But now, all of this was destroyed. Even if he killed Toru, he would lose all his power.

Thinking of this, Spencer could no longer control himself. He suddenly stood up and threw the champagne bottle in his hand to the floor, letting the shattered glass and expensive liquor soak into the ground.

Suddenly,

"Boom!"

A fierce explosion seemed to come from afar. Even though this was an underground fortress, it shook slightly.

Spencer's expression changed. He quickly pressed a button in the room, picked up the communicator, and asked loudly, "What happened? What was that shaking?"

"Director, someone is invading the port."

A hurried voice came from the other end of the line. Immediately after, another explosion sounded, and the underground fortress shook again.

Although this level of explosion was harmless to the fortress and would not cause any real damage, a strong fear surged from the depths of Spencer's heart.

"Torpedoes, it's torpedoes! Our ships in the port have been hit by torpedoes, Director! The port has been completely destroyed. All the ships are gone!"

Through the communicator, Spencer heard another explosion coming from his subordinate's location. The subordinate said in a panic, "Not good, someone has infiltrated the island and is destroying the airport and planes!"

Spencer's expression changed, and he roared loudly, "What's the damage? Report the damage immediately!"

But the last things Spencer heard were bursts of gunfire and screams, followed by waves of static.

He gave up on the communication and immediately turned on the monitoring equipment beside him.

The entire island was not large and was covered with various surveillance facilities. Through this equipment, Spencer finally saw the situation on the island.

Just as his subordinate had said earlier, the port had been attacked by torpedoes, and the few ships docked there had been completely blown up.

The airport and the few planes had also been destroyed. The garrison on the island was being attacked by armed personnel of unknown origin. Gunshots rang out loudly, flames ignited, and the sounds of grenade explosions could be heard from time to time.

And amid this terrifying scene, through the monitoring equipment, Spencer even heard the sound of helicopter rotors.

Three attack helicopters suddenly appeared above the small island, coordinating with the armed personnel on the ground to launch a fierce assault on the island's defenders.

Because the heavy weapons had been destroyed, and most of the anti-air weapons had been lost, the three attack helicopters advanced almost uncontested, carrying out a thorough massacre.

But for Spencer, this was not a complete victory. It was the death knell of the Grim Reaper.

"Adam, it's Adam. Adam is here!"

Spencer's expression was filled with terror. He staggered back two steps and fell onto the sofa, his hands trembling.

Although he did not know where this mysterious armed force had come from, he instinctively felt that these were people sent by Toru.

Now, the island's ships had been destroyed, and the planes had also been destroyed. It could be said that this island had been completely cut off from the outside world. Without outside support, he would be trapped here and would not be able to leave the island at all.

"How is this possible? How could Adam know the coordinates of this island..."

He suddenly thought of something, scrambled to pick up the communication equipment, and dialed a number.

"Director, do you have any instructions?"

Burns's calm voice came from the other end of the communicator.

"Burns, was it you? Was it you who betrayed me? You led Adam here. You traitor, you CIA traitor!"

The fear of death made Spencer completely lose his mind, and he screamed in rage.

Burns sneered. "Director, you betrayed me first. I'm just giving you a taste of your own medicine."

"Director, this is the last time I will call you that. You will never hear my voice again."

"But don't worry. That illegitimate son you hid, along with the rest of your family, will soon go to hell to accompany you."

Spencer roared desperately, "Burns, you're going to hurt my family?"

"Spencer, don't tell me you weren't thinking about harming Adam's family just now. You must have been thinking about killing all of his relatives after getting rid of Adam, right?"

Burns's tone was cold. "I know you too well. This has always been your habit."

After speaking, Burns hung up the phone.

For a person, the most terrifying thing is the betrayal of their most loyal subordinate, the person they trust the most, because that person knows them too well.

"No, I won't necessarily die. Adam might not be able to break into this underground fortress!"

Spencer held on to his last hope.

But this hope was quickly shattered.

"Director, someone has entered the fortress... Ah!"

A subordinate sent a message to Spencer, and the final scream made Spencer's blood run cold.

"What's going on? How many people have entered the fortress?"

"Who else is alive? Who else is alive? Report the situation to me immediately!"

Spencer sent messages to several of his subordinates in succession, but no one replied.

Until Toru's voice came from one of the walkie-talkies.

"Spencer, stop shouting. All your subordinates are dead. The only one left alive here now is you."

This underground fortress was complex, like a sealed missile base, and the room where Spencer was located was in an extremely hidden place.

Even if someone did infiltrate this place, they would definitely not be able to find this secret room. But Burns's betrayal directly exposed this hidden room to Toru.

In the complex underground structure, there were only rusty iron stairs and other furnishings.

The elite squad led by Toru arrived in front of a wall.

The wall was seamless, blending perfectly with its surroundings. With the rust and dull finish on its surface, no one would believe there was a door here.

At Toru's signal, the armed personnel behind him brought out professional cutting tools capable of dismantling bank vaults and began cutting into the metal wall.

Inside, Spencer watched in terror as the cutting flame appeared on the wall in front of him. Before long, an opening wide enough for one person was cut out.

Toru motioned for the other armed personnel to step back, then walked into the room alone and calmly sat down on the sofa opposite Spencer.

He raised his head, looked at Spencer, and smiled.

"It's been a while, my dear adoptive father."
