Chapter 188 - Chapter 188: The Villain Was Never Danzo

He will die. He will definitely die.

Feeling Jaeger's palm aimed at him, Shimura Danzo's brain went blank for a moment. Under that crushing sense of impending death, it felt like every cell in his body was being forced to move, screaming at him to survive.

Why…? Why is this man completely unaffected by hundreds of years of invalid information from Infinite Void?

Even Angel Leng, an immortal being, couldn't withstand it—so why can he!?

Is this the power of some kind of system of his?

No… the transmigrator he devoured must've just been trash. That's the only explanation. If that transmigrator wasn't garbage, how could he have ended up as food for a monster like this?

"W–wait… wait a moment!"

Driven into a corner, Danzo squeezed out the last bit of resistance in his life.

He raised his left hand—Limitless twisted, and Blue, the negative, infinitely compressing attraction, began to form. At the same time, his right hand flared to life with Red, the positive, infinitely expanding repulsion.

He wasn't aiming at Jaeger this time.

He was aiming at two directions where civilians and Konoha shinobi were densely clustered—both sides packed with people.

"There are at least a few thousand civilians and ninjas on both sides," Danzo snarled, pupils shaking, "and many of them are already wounded. If you kill me, they'll die with me!"

He knew Jaeger was most likely connected to Uchiha Miyuki, that reincarnated girl, and that he'd come here to "save" Konoha from Danzo's schemes.

So Danzo latched onto that.

Laughing harshly, he shouted,

"I don't mind turning these people into meat paste. If you don't want that to happen, stop your attack! Then we can talk this out, slowly. Maybe we can even become friends, don't you think?"

"…Are you threatening me?"

Jaeger looked at Shimura Danzo with an almost amused expression.

"You're threatening me with the lives of Konoha's civilians and ninjas? As expected of the guy who devoured a transmigrator. You really did learn how to take hostages."

"This isn't a threat—it's negotiation!" Danzo immediately tried to correct himself, worried that he'd provoke Jaeger into making some insane decision. "Angel Leng was clearly holding back when she fought me just now. She was protecting her own sense of justice. As her friend—and as a friend of Uchiha Miyuki—surely you don't want so many innocent people in Konoha to die because of you, right?"

"…"

Jaeger didn't answer.

Seeing his silence, Danzo thought he'd succeeded. A crazed laugh escaped his throat.

"That's right… that's right. We can have a nice talk. Maybe we really can become frie—"

"Pff—"

Jaeger suddenly laughed, cutting him off mid-sentence.

"Why are you laughing?"

Danzo's eyelids twitched. An ominous feeling crawled up his spine.

"I'm laughing because you're actually insane," Jaeger replied flatly. "You seriously thought a pathetic attempt at moral blackmail would work on someone like me?"

It had been a while since he'd met such an entertaining clown.

Jaeger shook his head, then curved his lips into a playful smile.

"Come to think of it, I haven't properly introduced myself, have I? My name is Nerona Jaeger. The world I ended up in after transmigrating was… One Piece."

"Pirate… world?" Danzo muttered. "Nerona… Jaeger… Saint… Jaeger…?"

The moment that name clicked, Danzo's eyes went unfocused.

The transmigrator's memories he'd devoured included everything about One Piece, so he understood immediately who Jaeger was supposed to be—and why Jaeger laughed at him the second he revealed his identity.

The Celestial Dragons.

The "world nobles" of the pirate world, self-proclaimed descendants of the gods and creators of the world. They enslaved every race that wasn't a Celestial Dragon and had committed more genocides than anyone could count.

Compared to them, even someone like Orochimaru—who used humans as experimental materials—and even Danzo himself—who had persecuted countless loyal shinobi—seemed almost… mild.

The man standing in front of him was a Celestial Dragon.

But… wait.

The monsters are supposed to be the native Celestial Dragons, right?

Isn't this guy a Reincarnator? So he chose to be evil?

As Danzo stared at him in horrified confusion, Jaeger casually shifted his palm away from Danzo and pointed it instead toward the civilians and ninjas hiding in the distance.

"Should I use the flames of the sun?" he mused lazily. "Or should I use that blazing fire I haven't pulled out in a while to burn a god to ashes…?"

He weighed it in his mind like he was deciding whether to eat noodles or rice for dinner—except what he was actually weighing were millions of lives.

In the end, he decided against summoning something on the scale of the comet that wiped out the dinosaurs.

"After all, this is Miyuki's home turf," he muttered to himself. "A lot of beautiful girls are going to be popping up here in the future. It'd be a waste to blow it all away. She'd nag me forever about it, too."

A sharp, crackling zzzt filled the air.

Dark lightning burst to life in Jaeger's palm, radiating a terrifying pressure. The black thunder writhed like a living dragon, coiling and twisting, then condensed into a single spear of lightning.

"My power is currently reduced by… oh, tens of millions of times," Jaeger said casually. "But a thunderbolt that can tear apart stars should still be more than enough. If I accidentally destroy this planet outright, that'd be annoying to deal with."

Those nonchalant words alone made Danzo's scalp go numb.

Then Jaeger flicked his wrist and lightly threw the thunder spear.

"Crackle… crackle… crackle—!"

The sky split open.

From the gaping wound in the heavens, that jet-black, star-rending thunder poured down like a waterfall—a torrential storm of destruction.

Even weakened tens of millions of times, it was still the kind of lightning that could turn elite jōnin into ash in an instant.

"BOOM!!!"

The thunderstorm roared across the land.

By the time the sound faded and the dark lightning dispersed, there wasn't a single living aura left in the area. Under Jaeger's star-destroying Noble Phantasm, not even corpses remained.

"Alright then," Jaeger said lightly. "Now what are you going to do?"

A man completely detached from concepts like morality could never be controlled by it. Jaeger looked down at Shimura Danzo with eyes that were almost bored, his tone mocking.

"Still want to beg for your life? Or maybe try threatening me with the lives of the rest of Konoha's civilians? Or the entire ninja world? Go on, keep trying. Let's see if you can successfully kidnap my conscience, clown."

"You… you monster…"

Danzo squeezed the words out through clenched teeth, staring at Jaeger with eyes full of fear. His legs wouldn't stop shaking.

Just because Danzo threatened him, he had slaughtered thousands of innocent hostages in an instant—and he still didn't look satisfied.

Who's the villain here? Me… or this man called Jaeger?

Only the native Celestial Dragons can be this twisted…

And then there was that lightning. Thunder that could tear apart stars. That Noble Phantasm—Zeus's star-destroying lightning.

This guy was a true monster. In terms of pure strength, he might even overshadow Angel Leng.

His domain was useless. His moral blackmail was useless. Danzo finally understood that if he kept fighting Jaeger, he was going to die in a way that made all his schemes meaningless.

"Limitless… Blue!"

Danzo suddenly activated the negative infinity of Blue again—but this time, he wasn't using it to attack.

He compressed the distance between his starting point and his destination, using the distortion of space itself to simulate teleportation.

At the same time, he poured all of his remaining strength into Infinity, the barrier that Angel Leng had once cracked through sheer analysis and effort.

Angel Leng may have broken through my Limitless once, Danzo thought frantically, but right now he's trapped in Infinite Void, drowning in hundreds of years' worth of useless information. Even as an immortal being, he shouldn't be able to move for a while!

And even if Jaeger uses Zeus's Noble Phantasm again, no matter how powerful that thunder is, it shouldn't be able to break my Infinity.

All I have to do is run. Leave Konoha, disappear, hide. They probably can't stay in this world for long anyway…

Teleportation after teleportation, Danzo fled at insane speed, thoughts racing as he tried to decide where to hide.

And then he noticed something.

Jaeger… didn't seem to be chasing him.

Did he give up?

Almost against his own better judgment, Danzo glanced back.

He saw Jaeger still standing in the distance—right arm extended, palm calmly aimed in his direction.

There's no way he can break through Infinity… right?

Heart pounding, Danzo instinctively forced the last scraps of chakra and magic in his body to the surface, trying to push his speed just a little higher.

"You saw how long it took Angel Leng to analyze and crack your Limitless," Jaeger's voice drifted lazily through the space between them. "So you assumed there was no way I could break it directly, right?"

"What a clownish way of thinking."

Jaeger shook his head slightly.

"Let's end this farce. The Sky is Dead—"

CRACK—!

Around Shimura Danzo, the world shattered.

Space fractured like a mirror smashed by brute force. Under the power of Jaeger's Noble Phantasm, the entire area collapsed into a storm of floating debris.

Danzo didn't even have time to scream before he was swallowed by the broken world and erased completely.

"As I thought," Jaeger murmured, watching the collapse. "No matter how impressive 'Infinity' sounds, in the end it's just a technique that can't withstand true spatial interference—far less a Noble Phantasm that can erase the world itself."

He felt a strange, powerful energy flow into his body, fusing with him—sublimating into a brand-new Noble Phantasm.

A satisfied smile tugged at his lips.

"This feeling… yeah. This one's pretty damn good."

High above the battlefield, atop the skeletal back of the bone dragon Leviathan, Pakura stared blankly at the spot where Shimura Danzo had just been—and at the shattered, collapsing world that was slowly knitting itself back together under Jaeger's power.

Even with Kasumigaoka Utaha explaining things beside her, she still couldn't wrap her head around these abilities—Infinite Space, world-shattering Noble Phantasms, star-destroying thunder. Every concept sounded like something out of a different reality.

Is this what a being from beyond the planet is like?

Someone like that… is basically a god walking on earth.

Did he really need to lie to me about the future to get me to believe him?

So… it was all true?

As the thought sank in—that her own village and the Fourth Kazekage might really betray her—a dark emotion flickered in Pakura's eyes.

She wasn't some tool who believed she had to sacrifice everything for the village.

If the Fourth Kazekage really intended to throw her away…

Then replacing him was also an option.

"Let's go. We should head down."

Kasumigaoka Utaha once again took on her pink dragon form and glanced down at Tsunade, who was still busy healing the Third Hokage.

"With your teacher's condition, he should be almost fully recovered by now, right?" Utaha teased. "What a shame—you missed a really interesting battle."

"It's not a big loss if I missed it."

Tsunade straightened up, wiping the sweat from her forehead. She looked at the now-stabilized Third Hokage, asleep and out of danger, and smiled.

"Even without seeing it, I already knew how it would end. With Saint Jaeger's power, of course he'd crush that bastard Shimura Danzo. It was always going to be a one-sided fight."

Kasumigaoka Utaha tilted her head, genuinely surprised.

"…You really trust Mr. World Noble that much?"

"Of course I trust Saint Jaeger."

Tsunade answered without the slightest hesitation, a confident grin on her face.

"He's a great god connected directly to the root of things—someone who can resurrect the dead at will."

Sawamura Eiri clicked her tongue.

"Tch. At this rate, I really think Saint Jaeger should just start a religion. He'd probably become an actual god-level figure in no time. It hasn't even been that long, and someone as strong-willed as Tsunade is already halfway into a cult of personality."

Luo Hao folded her arms, nodding thoughtfully.

"It's normal for the weak to cling to the strong. And in Tsunade's case, Jaeger not only saved her life, he also showed her miracles that completely break common sense. If it were a normal person, they'd already be throwing themselves at his feet in worship. The fact that she's still this lucid is already impressive."

Scathach's voice joined in, calm and composed.

"By the way, Jaeger—Danzo Shimura is really, truly dead this time, correct? You also picked up a new Noble Phantasm from him, didn't you?"

Jaeger: "Yeah. He's completely gone."

Uchiha Miyuki: "So what's the new Noble Phantasm? I'm begging you, please let it be a Noble Phantasm based on Gojo Satoru's abilities! Don't tell me it ended up being something modeled after Danzo's disgusting aesthetic!"

Uchiha Miyuki: "Also, Your Highness Jaeger—you have no idea how cool you looked just now! Shisui, Izumi, and Mikoto all watched your entire fight. They're all in total awe of you now!"

Jaeger: "Oh? They weren't horrified watching me slaughter so many 'innocent' people?"

Uchiha Miyuki: "Don't underestimate shinobi, Your Highness. Even ten-year-old kids here understand that sacrifices are inevitable in war. It's just bad luck that those people were used by Danzo to threaten you."

Jaeger: "I see. I like people who can think rationally. I can't stand those naive saints who want to save everyone but don't have the power to back it up."

Scathach: "So, Jaeger—what exactly is this new Noble Phantasm? You seem to be in quite a good mood. It must be powerful, right?"

Jaeger: "Oh, it's definitely not weak. And you'll get to see exactly what it can do in just a moment."

Leaving the chat group, Jaeger first cast a sidelong glance at Angel Leng, who still hadn't recovered from the flood of Infinite Space's useless information. Then he shifted his gaze toward two charred figures not far away—the ones Kasumigaoka Utaha had just fried with her thunder.

Orochimaru wasn't breathing at all. He looked completely dead.

By contrast, Hiashi's chest was still moving slightly. He technically still had a pulse.

But that was only on the surface.

"It's a very clever trick," Jaeger remarked calmly. "In terms of pure survivability, there probably aren't many in this world who can beat you."

Ignoring the two blackened bodies, Jaeger continued in a flat tone.

"Orochimaru—are you still planning to play dead in front of me? Or are you just hoping for the perfect chance to ambush me?"

"Hissss… As expected of the otherworldly visitor who crushed that monster Danzo," a cold voice rasped from within the charred flesh. "You even see through my little tricks so easily…"

What followed was a disgusting scene, like a snake shedding its skin whole.

Orochimaru slithered out from the burnt husk of his former body and stood before Jaeger, intact.

"No," Jaeger corrected him with a faint smile, "I just saw the future. It seems you overheard our entire conversation and picked up quite a lot of secrets."

"…Yes. We've heard everything."

Orochimaru nodded, his gaze on Jaeger filled with a complex mix of fear, awe, admiration, and greed.

After witnessing the horrors of war and countless tragedies, Orochimaru had come to despise the fragility of human mortality and longed for eternal life.

That desire had driven him to conduct cruel human experiments. It had driven him to betray his teacher, the Third Hokage, in exchange for Danzo Shimura's steady stream of test subjects and resources.

But now… he had found a shortcut.

Monsters from another world. An immortal angel who'd lived tens of thousands of years. If beings like that existed, then surely they possessed methods to attain immortality as well.

If he could join them—

Then his dream would no longer be a distant fantasy.

"Please," Orochimaru said, bowing his head, "let me join you."

Just as Danzo had once done, he submitted his request to Jaeger, eyes filled with burning anticipation.

"I'm nothing like Danzo. I have research capabilities. I can absolutely serve as logistics support. With knowledge from other worlds, I could even develop items that transcend this world entirely."

He hesitated for a moment, then gritted his teeth and added:

"I can also use Living Corpse Reincarnation to switch bodies and become a beautiful woman. I guarantee I won't ever be as hideous as Danzo."

"…"

Jaeger stared at him for a second, then shook his head.

"Forget it. I'm not exactly short on researchers. And frankly, compared to Vegapunk, your ability doesn't impress me much."

The sun-shaped pattern in his right eye seemed almost alive, burning with searing, golden flames.

"So it really failed, huh…?"

Disappointment and resignation flashed through Orochimaru's eyes.

Then his expression twisted, and he opened his mouth wide.

"In that case… we can only fight to the end. Ten Thousand Snakes Formation!"
