Third Person's POV
Knock, knock.
Roman knocked on Roey's door after nearly half an hour of pacing outside it.
After hearing approval from inside, he opened it slowly.
His eyes immediately caught a pair of round, bright eyes—still tired, but sparkling with curiosity as Roey looked at him.
"Hey, buddy." Roman lifted a hand, awkward.
"Huh… Kind Uncle? What are you doing here?"
"Uhm… I—"
"Huh, are you a doctor? You're wearing the same uniform as my knight father."
Hearing Roey say it so brightly—my knight father—tore something open inside Roman.
It shouldn't feel like this. He had never bonded with this boy. He had no right to feel this kind of pain.
"Ah, yes. I'm a doctor too. I'm a—"
"He's Raya's father, sweetheart. He's here to say thank you to you. Isn't that right, Mr. Housley?"
Viona cut in gently, not giving Roman the chance to say more.
Roman wanted to step closer to the bed, but the sharp look in Viona's eyes stopped him cold.
