Chapter 79 - Chapter 77: Sick Pikachu

After a long journey, Alex and his group arrived at a dilapidated-looking place called Wuyun City.

This area resembled an abandoned industrial site, with chimneys constantly spewing thick black smoke, creating a scene reminiscent of a horror movie.

The wind blowing from the sea carried a foul odor that severely affected the mood of passersby.

"There are so many factories here, but why does it look so deserted, as if there's no one around?" Alex said, surveying the surrounding buildings.

Misty took out a map, looked at it, and said, "This place seems to be called Wuyun City."

"Wuyun City? I've never heard of it," Brock said, puzzled.

"It says here that it used to be very prosperous because of all the factories," Misty added, putting down the map.

"That's probably why the sky and the sea here are polluted, which led to the decline of this place," Alex observed, looking at the dark expanse.

"Exactly, that's the reason," Brock agreed, gazing at the smoke-filled sky in the distance.

"Then it seems unlikely that any Pokémon exist here," Ash said, feeling helpless.

"Pikachu."

Pikachu's cheeks were red, and he swayed precariously, almost collapsing to the ground.

"Ash, Pikachu seems to be unwell," Alex noted, spotting Pikachu's abnormality.

"Pikachu, what's wrong?" Ash quickly knelt down to support Pikachu.

"Pikachu, pull yourself together!"

Before Ash could finish, Pikachu hit him with a powerful Thunder Shock.

Behind them, a Magnemite was secretly watching.

"I have insulated gloves here, Ash; you should wear them. We should hurry and get Pikachu checked out," Alex said, rummaging through his backpack for the gloves.

"Pikachu, hold on! Don't worry, I'll take you to the Pokémon Center right now!"

Ash picked up Pikachu and started running.

The group raced towards the Pokémon Center.

"They really found the Pokémon Center, Meowth."

At this moment, a pair of mechanical eyes suddenly extended from under a manhole cover. Below the manhole were the Team Rocket Trio, who had been following Alex and the others.

"To protect the world from devastation,

To unite all peoples within our nation..."

"Ugh, we can't take it anymore! What is this disgusting stench?! It's sickening!"

James and Jessie were so overwhelmed by the smell that they couldn't even finish their introductory lines.

"Put on the diving suits I prepared, Meowth."

Meowth was standing inside a sealed mini-UFO at this time.

"I'll use this machine to send you fresh air, Meowth."

"Ah, we're alive again!"

With fresh air, Jessie and James looked intoxicated.

"You had such a good thing; why didn't you say so earlier, you idiot!"

Jessie and James yelled angrily.

"You two stop complaining! Hurry and dive into that Grimer-filled water, then sneak into the Pokémon Center from there. You know what to do next, right?"

Meowth said with an indifferent attitude, waving his hand.

"What a joke! What's with your arrogant attitude?"

"We're the cute and charming villains. Even if it's to get the one-of-a-kind Haunter or Pikachu, you want us to dive into the stinky water? No way!"

"Right, you're right! We absolutely won't do something like that, no way!"

Jessie and James both looked resolute.

"Is that so?"

Meowth nonchalantly pressed a button on the UFO, releasing a powerful electric current inside the diving suits, shocking Jessie and James.

"This is what happens when you don't listen," Meowth said smugly.

"Damn you, remember this!"

"You may get your way today, but you won't have the chance next time!"

Jessie and James said angrily as they submerged themselves into the stinky water.

"Ding, ding, is anyone there? Is anyone around?"

Ash stood anxiously at the Pokémon Center, pressing the service bell.

"Ugh, this is unbearable! Do you know what time it is? Good kids are already asleep by now."

Joy walked out, yawning.

"I'm sorry, but my Pikachu seems to be unwell," Ash said, looking worried.

"Ah, it's probably just a cold," Joy said with a big yawn, glancing sideways at Pikachu in Ash's arms.

"Look closely! He's my most important Pokémon! Look, Pikachu's cheeks are sparking with electricity!" Ash shouted, feeling annoyed.

"Oh, that's an early symptom of an Electric-type mouse's cold. Just let him stay here for one night, and he'll be fine soon," Joy said confidently.

As she spoke, a large group of Grimer gathered at a drainage channel outside.

In the factory, the power suddenly went out.

"What's going on?" a person in a work uniform asked.

"Oh no, the generator has stopped working, and the seawater intake seems to be blocked."

At this moment, Meowth suddenly panicked.

"Oh no, why did the power suddenly stop? If the machine stops, I won't be able to send air to James and Jessie."

"That means... I don't know what to do, Meowth."

Meowth was sweating profusely with tension.

At this moment, Jessie and James, who were diving, sank because the air supply suddenly stopped.

Inside the Pokémon Center, Joy carried Pikachu to the treatment area, where many Pokémon were undergoing treatment.

"Oh no, if the power doesn't come back on quickly, these Pokémon undergoing treatment will also be in danger."

"What did you say? Isn't that terrible?" Ash said anxiously.

"In that case, we need to find a solution quickly," Alex said, stroking his chin.

"But, I..." Joy said, lowering her head, unable to speak.

"Ash, it's no use blaming Joy now. The problem is at the power plant," Alex said, patting Ash's shoulder, signaling him to calm down.

"Pikachu."

Pikachu looked reluctant when he saw Ash and Alex about to leave.

"Pikachu, don't worry. Stay here and rest well."

"You all, good luck," Joy murmured to herself.
