Chapter 336: Mad Gorilla
The Rats' Mission
The sewers never lack for rats, but the rats today were different. Five of them were particularly bold, daring to trespass into what ordinary rats knew to be a forbidden zone.
The five rats, one large and four small, appeared to be a family.
They split into two groups, following the walls and bypassing the electric grids laid on the ground, arriving at a room that looked like a sentry post.
One of the smaller rats raised its head. Cold red light flashed in its dark eyes. Its neck swiveled, seemingly assessing the surroundings. Upon seeing a gorilla a few meters away, it quickly ducked its head and crept along the wall corner, climbing inward.
The largest rat did not scurry away like its "sons." Instead, it bristled its fur and let out a warning squeak.
The gorilla quickly noticed the "uninvited" guest. Despite being dozens of times larger than the rat, it showed the same expression most humans would when facing a rodent: disgust and a faint trace of fear.
It picked up a broom and forcefully threw it at the rat, but the latter deftly dodged. This action completely infuriated the rat, which pounced, scratching and biting the gorilla's leg fiercely.
The gorilla was terrified. It cursed loudly while frantically shaking its leg. In its state of panic, it failed to notice the four smaller rats slipping through a window crack and into the base's interior.
Grodd's Experiment
Passing through a narrow pipe, light shone from the front, and the world suddenly widened.
Bright white lights illuminated the underground laboratory, which was filled with various scientific instruments. Four black-furred gorillas in white lab coats were gathered around an operating table, chattering and seemingly debating something.
A naked male was tied to the operating table, his hands and feet secured by iron rings, rendering him immobile. His mouth was taped shut, leaving only his flickering eyes to convey his terror.
After a moment, the four gorillas reached a conclusion. One walked over to a cabinet filled with bottles, concocted a bottle of strangely colored agent using various materials, and then, without hesitation, injected the agent into the man's body.
The shocking scene unfolded rapidly.
The man's body began to swell, his bones lengthened, his muscles grew, and a mass of black fur sprouted across his skin. He cried out muffledly, struggling fiercely, but could not break free from the iron rings.
Black blood flowed from his nostrils, pupils, and ears. His face was grotesquely distorted, even shedding its human form and beginning to transform into that of an ape.
The surrounding gorillas watched the scene tensely. One opened a computer for data collection. Their expressions suggested they were anticipating something. Unfortunately, after only half a minute, the man on the operating table stopped struggling and lay motionless.
Seeing this, one gorilla shook its head regretfully, the other three sharing the same expression.
After the man died, his body was dragged away by a gorilla dressed as a security guard.
The rats, having witnessed everything, exchanged glances. Two stayed behind to monitor, while the other two slipped through the door crack, following the security gorilla.
The area of the sewers was larger than expected. Following the pipe forward, the two rats saw another laboratory. Next to it were a dozen jail cells made of iron bars, holding raggedly dressed humans.
These humans were listless and dazed, seemingly suffering from severe mental trauma. Two had even lost their human appearance and were now ape-like creatures.
The two rats circled the base, filming everything they saw.
When the video reached Headland Villa, Luke fell into silence.
He had assumed this was an espionage mission between different intelligent species. It turned out to be something far more terrifying.
Those gorillas were researching an agent to turn humans into apes!
Grodd!
Only one of The Flash's arch-enemies, Gorilla Grodd, could be behind this. Only that lunatic would conceive of such a perverse idea.
"Young Master, what should we do? Should we take action?"
Luke thought for a moment, then slightly shook his head.
"Let's wait and see."
The Super-Soldier Attack
Inside the sentry post, the guard gorilla finally broke free from the big rat's entanglement, cornering it. Just as it raised an iron bar, ready to smash the audacious rat, a piercing alarm blared through the room.
The gorilla's face instantly changed. It hurried back to its post.
Bang!
The reinforced steel door was kicked down. A humanoid monster, with purplish-brown skin, swollen muscles, and blood-red eyes, charged in. It had a human appearance but radiated the aura of a savage beast.
Seeing the gorilla, Kahn, the transformed monster, didn't hesitate. Veins bulged on his right arm, and he delivered a straight punch directly to the gorilla's chest.
Boom!
A visible shockwave rippled through the air. The gorilla's chest caved inward, and its face showed stunned disbelief. Its body couldn't withstand the force of the punch. It staggered backward, crashing into the wall, nearly passing out. Thankfully, in the final moment, it slammed the alarm on its belt, relaying the message of the invasion to its comrades in the base.
Kahn was merciless. He straddled the gorilla, delivering punch after punch, a bloodthirsty, cruel grin on his face. He only stopped after the gorilla was reduced to a bloody pulp. He then followed Sam and Drake into the depths of the base.
After they left, the large rat, huddled in the corner, emerged. It climbed onto the dead gorilla's body, silently watching the mutilated face.
The great battle had begun.
The base had a comprehensive defense system. The moment the alarm sounded, the gorillas in the laboratory ripped off their lab coats and grabbed the firearms from the weapon racks, instantly transforming from scientists into warriors.
Their weapons were different from human firearms; they were devices that sprayed an electric current.
Four wrist-thick streams of current simultaneously struck Drake as he charged in. An ordinary person would have been instantly pierced, but Drake was beyond the human realm. His muscles could resist actual bullets, and even the high-energy electric weapons couldn't cause fatal damage.
However, the pain from the current scorching his flesh still made him let out a terrifying shriek.
Sam, behind him, grabbed a table leg and hurled it forward. Kahn, even more frenzied, charged in like a tank, smashing the equipment in the room. He grabbed one gorilla by the neck, lifted it high, and slammed it against the wall.
Bang!
The wall buckled inward, spiderwebbed with cracks.
Kahn laughed wildly, attacking again and again like a madman.
The other gorillas were both horrified and enraged. They aimed their electric guns at Kahn and opened fire. Drake seized the opportunity to leap forward, landing a heavy punch to a gorilla's face. He then twisted his body, wrapping his arm around the gorilla's neck, executing a classic chokehold.
Snap!
The sound of bone breaking echoed in the room. The gorilla's head folded 180 degrees. It slumped to the ground, motionless.
