"Sun Dragon Inti, direct attack!"
Goodwin ordered.
The sun at the dragon's core ignited, channeling flames into all four dragon heads, which then fired a torrent of fire straight at Kira's empty field.
Kira snapped his fingers.
"I activate my set card, 'Ground Capture'—a Trap that halves the damage from a direct attack." (Anime Card)
A translucent barrier appeared, halving the flames' impact. The blast ruffled Kira's coat and pushed him back half a step.
"A Dark Signer's Shadow Duel, huh?" Kira dusted himself off. "Feels pretty real."
[Kira, LP4000 → LP2500]
"And after taking over 1000 damage, I draw another card from my deck."
He drew.
Goodwin: "I set a card and end my turn."
As he ended, Moon Dragon Quilla glowed with blue light. Its four heads and moon core slowly sank, as if disappearing into the underworld.
"Moon Dragon Quilla's effect:
At the end of your turn, if it's on the field, it automatically destroys itself." (Anime effect)
The real card version of Moon Shadow Dragon is quite different—no Dark Synchro and no negative levels. The TCG version is a normal Level 6 Synchro with much more balanced effects.
"I heard you say you were going to have Yusei Fudo taken care of," Kira asked calmly. "Why?"
Currently, in the story, Yusei had been arrested by Security. In the original, Goodwin let him go to gather the five Signers for the Fortune Cup.
If not for that purpose, Goodwin could've killed Yusei easily.
"This isn't your world. It's none of your business," Goodwin answered coldly.
Kira: "But if an otherworldly being comes to my world to release the sealed Wicked Gods, doesn't that count as an invasion?"
Goodwin frowned slightly.
"I don't know what you're talking about," he said, shutting down the conversation. "It's your turn. Duel continues. I have no obligation to explain anything to a dying man."
"So confident?" Kira smiled. "Now I'm even more interested.
"My turn—draw!"
He revealed the card he got from Magical Merchant last turn.
"I activate the Spell Card 'Reasoning.'
You declare a monster level, then I excavate cards from my deck until I find a monster that can be normal summoned.
If its level matches your declaration, all excavated cards go to the Graveyard.
If not, I Special Summon it, and send the rest to the Graveyard."
Kira gestured for Goodwin to proceed.
"Declare a level."
Goodwin chose Level 4, the most common guess.
"Alright. Here I go."
Kira flipped five cards: Gigantes, The Rock Spirit, Megarock Dragon, Valkyrion the Magna Warrior, and a Trap.
All four monsters required special summoning conditions and couldn't be normal summoned.
Goodwin frowned.
Was it just coincidence that so many couldn't be normal summoned?
"The sixth card," Kira revealed, "is 'Gamma The Electromagnet Warrior.' This one can be normal summoned, but it's Level 3—your guess was off. So, I Special Summon Gamma The Electromagnet Warrior."
A burst of electricity exploded on the field, forming a small green Magnet Warrior with giant fists.
[Gamma The Electromagnet Warrior, DEF 2000]
The Electromagnetic Warriors are the upgraded forms of Yugi's classic Magnet Warriors.
Kira's team had worked on this project for a long time, and he brought the new Magnet Warrior cards along for this dimensional trip.
He now had several modernized versions of classic cards and could build a fully up-to-date Yugi-style deck.
Today would be the Magnet Warriors' field debut.
"When Gamma The Electromagnet Warrior is summoned or Special Summoned, I can Special Summon another Level 4 or lower 'Magnet Warrior' monster from my hand except another Gamma."
Kira showed another Magnet Warrior.
"Special Summon 'Beta The Electromagnet Warrior'!"
This one looked much like the old Beta, but was now red instead of yellow.
[Beta The Electromagnet Warrior, ATK 1500]
"Beta's effect: When summoned or Special Summoned, I can add another Level 4 or lower Magnet Warrior from my deck to my hand, except another Beta."
His deck automatically searched. He drew 'Alpha The Electromagnet Warrior.'
Alpha, Beta, and Gamma—the classic Magnet trio from Yugi's deck, now with modern upgrades and effects.
"Magnets need a field to work." Kira smiled. "I activate the Field Spell—
Magnetic Field!"
