Chapter 271 - Chapter 271 The Enemy in the Dark

Natsu carried the unconscious Ezreal onto the wolf's back, while Happy's claws gripped the Evil Wolf's fur tightly.

A black hurricane rose from the ground, and the Evil Wolf's four paws ignited with a dark ghostly fire, leaving burning paw prints on the ground with every step.

"Hold on tight!" the Evil Wolf's roar shook the dead leaves from the treetops.

Its massive body transformed into a black lightning bolt, and ancient trees that had stood for centuries, broken by its path, were incinerated into ash by the ghostly fire before they even hit the ground.

Under the moonlight, the Evil Wolf's massive body soared into the sky, its black wings furiously flapping, creating a hurricane as it flew towards Magnolia.

What they didn't know was that on a mountain peak behind them, two Black Robed Men were watching their departure with crimson eyes.

One was tall and thin, the other short and stout, both wearing simple black robes with a star and moon pattern embroidered on the back.

The tall, thin Black Robed Man stood with his arms crossed, his wide sleeves swaying slightly in the mountain wind. He watched the Evil Wolf gradually disappear from sight and muttered, "A Mage from Fairy Tail? They do have some skill."

The short, stout Black Robed Man snorted, "You'd better start thinking about how to explain this to the higher-ups."

"Don't forget, Comet was your recommendation to the Church."

The tall, thin Black Robed Man was silent for a moment, then sighed, "I never expected that guy to try and sacrifice children for promotion, and be stupid enough to gather offerings with all twelve monthly birthdays in one place."

"That bastard..." The tall, thin Black Robed Man's voice trailed off, as if even he was stunned by Comet's actions.

The short, stout Black Robed Man sneered, "After all, he's from the Werewolf faction. It's normal for them to be brainless. They're the ones who cause the most trouble within the Church."

The short, stout Black Robed Man glanced sideways at his companion, "The person you vouched for caused trouble, got caught by the Council, failed to complete the sacrifice, and was even killed by a Mage from a legitimate guild."

"You came to clean up, but still couldn't deal with the opponent."

The short, stout Black Robed Man turned and walked into the darkness, "The Leo Priest on duty this month has an even worse temper than that Mars guy."

"Think about how to apologize. I don't want to not see you at the next Nine Star Meeting either."

Before he finished speaking, the short, stout Black Robed Man's figure had vanished into the darkness, and a faint black mist dissipated into the air.

The tall, thin Black Robed Man glared hatefully in the direction the Evil Wolf and the others had gone, "Fairy Tail, you will pay the price for interfering with the Moon Demon's plan..."

The wailing mountain wind blew, leaving only a meaningful sneer on the mountaintop. The tall, thin Black Robed Man's body exploded into a cloud of black mist, slowly dissipating in the night wind... At dawn, the Fairy Tail Guild's front door was smashed to pieces.

Upon entering, the Evil Wolf's massive body consciously dispersed into black smoke and merged into the shadow of the unconscious Ezreal.

Happy flapped his tiny wings, circling Natsu.

Natsu rushed into the hall, carrying the unconscious Ezreal.

A sleepy Gray, in his pajamas, was getting water at the bar and was nearly blown away by the shockwave, "What are you doing this early, Flame Brain?!"

Mira's tray crashed to the ground, shattering, but she paid no attention to her breakfast, instead looking worriedly at Natsu and the unconscious Ezreal, "Natsu! EZ! What happened to you two..."

"Old man!!" Natsu's roar startled the birds on the rooftop.

Natsu kicked aside a nearby chair and gently placed Ezreal, whom he was carrying, onto a table.

At this moment, Ezreal's skin displayed a strange pattern of white cracks, making him look like porcelain that could shatter at any moment, and the rise and fall of his chest were almost imperceptible.

The entire guild instantly erupted.

Erza, in her pajamas, walked barefoot out of her dormitory. After witnessing the situation downstairs, she immediately leaped from the second floor, landing in front of Natsu, her expression serious, "What's going on?"

Levy, who was temporarily staying in the third-floor library, had panda eyes from staying up late writing. She was yawning while holding her manuscript, but upon seeing the situation downstairs, all her sleepiness vanished. She flipped over and jumped directly from the third floor, "What happened, Natsu? What's wrong with EZ?"

Cana, who was morning training by Fairy Tail Lake, heard Natsu's shout from afar. Realizing something was wrong, she immediately ran back through the back door. Looking at the unconscious Ezreal, Cana's face instantly darkened, "Who did this?!"

"Everyone, move aside!" Makarov flipped and leaped down from the top-floor master's office. His body swelled into a giant form amidst golden light, and the Ten Wizard Saints' pressure enveloped the entire area.

The old man's calloused hand pressed against Ezreal's chest, and golden runes rapidly spread along his blood vessels.

"This is..." Makarov's brows furrowed deeper, his white beard trembling with his rapid breathing, "The backlash from Life Alchemy?"

Gray pushed to the front row, his pajamas still stained with milk that had splashed on him when he was knocked over by the shockwave, "Master, EZ he..."

"Quiet!" Makarov barked, and the golden light in his palm intensified.

The runes suddenly became dazzling, outlining a complex golden magic circle pattern on Ezreal's skin.

Erza, who had changed into her usual silver armor at some point, asked with a serious expression, "Should I contact Porlyusica, ma'am?"

Makarov didn't answer. His gaze pierced through Ezreal's body, seeing the deeper, soul-level struggle taking place.

The old man's wrinkled eye twitched—hundreds of twisted soul fragments were rampaging within the young man's body, and Ezreal's core soul was like a small boat in a storm, torn to shreds.

If not for the Light Magic still barely holding on, he would probably have already lost consciousness.

"Nonsense!" Makarov suddenly exploded in rage, his giant body exuding an astonishing aura, "Who allowed you to perform human alchemy?!"

The unconscious Ezreal naturally couldn't answer, and the old man's eyes were red with anger.

Natsu said anxiously, "Old man, save him first!"

Makarov took a deep breath, golden light swirling in his pupils.

He saw more details—Ezreal's protective net, originally constructed with Light Magic, was already shattered. Those pure Light Magic were being forcibly integrated into his soul's core, making a final stand.

"Everyone, step back." Makarov's voice suddenly became calm, carrying an unquestionable authority, "I am going to cast Fairy Sphere."

The hall instantly became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

The older members exchanged shocked glances—Fairy Sphere was one of the guild's three great super magics, known as "Absolute Defense."

It was a magic that, in theory, could block all attacks.

"Besides this magic," Makarov had already clasped his hands together, and a golden magic circle rotated and unfolded beneath his feet, "no other method can save this troublesome brat."

Makarov's white beard moved without wind, and his robes flapped loudly.

Complex golden runes rose from the magic circle, weaving into a spherical cage in the air.

Makarov's chant was deep and ancient, each syllable causing the space to tremble.

Natsu had to step back a few paces, his flames instinctively protecting his entire body—the pressure of a Ten Wizard Saints casting a super magic made his heart pound.

"Fairy Sphere!"
