Chapter 119 - 643. The True Meaning of Destruction

The Pure White Arrow and the Storm and Thunder Battle Spears collided in the void. In the face of the former, the latter seemed as fragile as paper. Though they appeared numerous and formidable, a single Pure White Arrow was enough to effortlessly shatter thousands, even tens of thousands, of Storm and Thunder Battle Spears.

Lu Sheng continuously assumed the posture of drawing his bow and firing an arrow. His posture was graceful, his movements fluid; every action seemed to embody the ultimate truths of the universe. This was the additional bonus granted by Sixth Realm archery.

He possessed so many forms of Law Power and had inherited the martial legacy memories of so many level 13 martial arts masters within the Dream Space universe. There were many martial arts in which he had now reached the Sixth Realm, and among them was Sixth-Realm archery.

"How is this possible?!"

Dilius swung his black battle halberd with all his might, constantly deflecting wave after wave of pure white arrows aimed at his face. His halberd technique had also reached the Sixth Realm. But under Sheng's archery, he could do nothing but parry and defend.

Dilius watched as his killing moves crumbled like an avalanche—the tidal wave of energy formed from the convergence of two Law Forces. A look of shock and disbelief flickered across his face. He simply could not comprehend it.

Why, with equal mastery of the Laws, did the convergence of his two Law Forces still fall short of Lu Sheng's single Law?

"What… what kind of Law Power is this?!"

Dilius violently fended off the onslaught of several pure-white arrows, his face grim as he gritted his teeth and spoke to Sheng.

Lu Sheng, however, did not answer.

He was currently immersed in the insights gained from executing "Annihilation: Billion Sun Arrows".

Since its creation, Sheng had only tested this killing move a few times on General-level Beasts. Each time, it had been an instant kill. It could be said that he had not yet even begun to fathom the upper limit of this technique. Unable to fathom its limits, he naturally could not detect any flaws so far.

And now, Dilius had become his perfect target. He had absolutely no need to worry that Dilius would be killed by his arrows; in fact, he actually wanted Dilius to hold out for as long as possible.

One after another, pure white arrows shot from his fingertips. A vast flood of insight into the Law of Extreme Yang and archery surged from the depths of his heart. In his mind, countless flashes of inspiration were constantly being generated and colliding. In the span of just a few breaths, this killing move had been simulated and perfected tens of thousands of times in his mind.

It grew ever stronger, sharper, and more perfect. Every pure white arrow he fired was different from the last, and each was more terrifying than the one before. It was as if he had fallen into a state of wondrous enlightenment. Over 367 million Extreme Yang Immortal Cells within his body were singing and leaping with joy, ceaselessly pumping out more Extreme Yang Immortal power and constantly delving into deeper layers of potential.

This was evident to those watching him. Dilius felt, with growing dread, that the pressure exerted upon him by this radiant, towering figure—a man he feared—was escalating at an indescribably terrifying pace. At first, when the other had just fired that pure white arrow shimmering with golden light, his Thunder Storm Battle Spear, though no match for it, could still barely hold its ground.

Later, after those arrows shattered his war spear, they began targeting his physical form. At first, he found it relatively easy to block and dodge. He even had enough energy left to manipulate the power of the Laws to replenish the war spears shattered by the pure white arrows in the void.

But soon, the pressure he felt grew ever greater. He was forced to divert more of his mental energy to fend off the arrows, and the rate at which he replenished the Law Spears slowed considerably. Eventually, he had no choice but to focus all his attention and energy solely on defending his physical form against the arrows' assault.

Even as the stray arrows cleared away nearly all the Law Spears surrounding him, he could not spare a single shred of mental energy to replenish them. Because... Dilius' intuition told him that if he were to be struck by even a single arrow... he would almost certainly suffer severe injuries!

"Ah!"

Dilius gripped his halberd with both hands, veins bulging on his arms and the backs of his hands, straining with all his might to deflect the several arrows before him. As the battle raged on, the pure white arrows fired from Sheng's hands had now almost entirely transformed into gold!

They had become solid arrows wrapped in countless intricate, magnificent golden patterns! Opulent and exquisite, they resembled the most precious works of art in the starry sky. Yet what they brought was a deep chill that seeped into the very soul and marrow.

"Damn it!"

Although Dilius managed to block this wave of attacks, his expression was grim. For he could clearly see the man in the distance, who was relentlessly firing deadly arrows at him with his ethereal bow. Compared to the beginning, the man's expression and posture had actually become more relaxed and composed.

One might even say…

'He looked as though he were enjoying it.

'He's relishing this battle! He isn't in any hurry to end it!

'He's treating me like a target!

'He's toying with me!'

Countless thoughts flashed through Dilius's mind in an instant, and a surge of savage rage erupted from the depths of his heart. His face contorted instantly, and blinding black beams suddenly shot out from the third eye between his brows.

"Bastard!" Dilius roared like a tyrant consumed by fury, his entire body enveloped in black, lightning-like sparks.

"Do you really think you're a god? Die! Be destroyed!" Dilius shouted, then violently hurled the war spear in his hand—already infused with countless shards of black lightning—toward Sheng. The spear instantly transformed into a bolt of black lightning. It sliced through the void.

"Crack—"

"Boom!"

At the Galaxy Summit, the massive projection momentarily blurred and trembled. Somewhere in the starry sky above the Galaxy Summit, space suddenly rippled violently, then shattered. Vast swaths of black lightning surged out from the fissures. Every bolt of lightning radiated a thick, terrifying aura—one that would make anyone's scalp crawl and their heart race with fear.

"Good heavens!"

A faint murmur of commotion rippled through the crowd gathered at the Galaxy Summit. Many stared at the shattered rift in the void and the black lightning streaming from it, their faces etched with utter astonishment.

"Even the independent combat space has been torn apart!"

"What kind of power is this?"

The fact that such power could penetrate a thick spatial barrier and reach them demonstrated just how terrifying Dilius' move was. It was truly hard to imagine that an attack of this caliber had actually been unleashed by a level 13 martial artist.

"It's Destruction! It's the aura of the Law of Destruction!"

One of the senior students, having sensed the aura of that black lightning, spoke with an extremely grave expression. The moment the word "Destruction" were uttered, everyone within the surrounding circle couldn't help but gasp in shock.

"The Law of Destruction!"

"Isn't the Law of Destruction a power that's fundamentally impossible for anyone to master?"

"Yes."

The senior student—the laosheng—who had spoken the name of Destruction nodded and explained, "What Dilius possesses is likely only a rudimentary form of the power of the Law of Destruction, derived from the two powerful laws of Storm and Thunder. He possesses only a sliver of the immense power of the Law of Destruction. But..." they said in a low voice, their expression extremely complex: "That is outrageous enough... incredible enough."

Indeed. As one of the few Supreme Laws at the very source of the universe, the Law of Destruction ranked even higher than the Extreme Laws. One could only catch a glimpse of this Law during the Great Cataclysm or the Great Obliteration.

Humans simply couldn't master such force, for there was nothing in this world capable of truly containing the Power of Destruction. Yet this terrifying force was now manifesting in Dilius' hands. Though it was merely a rudimentary form deduced through a clever trick, a glimpse of its True Meaning, it went beyond imagination and left onlookers speechless.

Another student spoke up. "Sovereign-level—this is the true terror of a Sovereign-level Blood. To be able to deduce and even contain the Law of Destruction. Dilius is truly terrifying. He is an absolutely unique existence in this cosmos; no one can compare to him. It's just a pity…"

They paused abruptly, then looked at the projection before them—a majestic figure bathed in light. Immediately afterward, they sighed deeply with profound regret: "Just a pity. Lu Sheng, who has fought him this far and pushed him to this point. He is truly remarkable and extraordinary…"

Two students speak up at the end. Their gender isn't directly specified. Chinese nouns are in general gender-neutral. The author of thsi webnovel usually repeats nouns rather than using pronouns. Note that Chinese pronouns are often gender neutral, but not "ta" (he/she/it). In Mandarin Chinese, there is 他 (ta 'he'), 她 (ta 'she'), and 它 (ta 'it'). Different written forms, identical pronunciations, "ta". In other words, in spoken Mandarin, "ta" can refer to non-human or human, with no gender assignment. Anyway, in this chapter, the author uses 他 (ta 'he') to refer to Sheng and Dilus, but doesn't use pronouns for the students. Here is what they're called:

老生, lǎos hēng: old student - I said senior student. Note that laosheng is also a role in Chinese opera, "dignified and respectable male characters such as Confucian scholars" [source: wiktionary]. This here must be a reference to that kind of knowledgeable person. So, indirectly, it might be implied that this person is a "he".

說話之人, shuōhuà zhī rén: speak 's person - You could say the person who speaks, the person speaking, I said the speaker. This person is completely gender neutral.
