Lucien's POV
I pushed my way through the worshipping crowd until I finally reached Lila, who stood at the edge, watching everything in silence.
"Lila," I called out.
She turned immediately, and the moment she saw my face, her expression shifted—confusion, worry… and fear.
"What's wrong with you?" she asked quickly. "Did something go wrong with the King?"
"Yes," I replied, my voice tight. "Something did go wrong."
Everything had gone wrong.
"What happened?" she pressed. "Don't tell me—did the plan backfire? Did he figure out why we're here? Is he coming after us? Are we in more danger now?"
Her voice kept rising with each question. Then suddenly she grabbed me by the collar
"I knew it, Lucien! I told you not to go to him!" She yelled, grabbing me tighter.
"Now, tell me what's going on! And if the King is after us, I swear I'll—"
"No, Lila!" I snapped, pushing her hand away. "That's not what's happening. The King isn't after us. And we're not in more danger." I told her.
