Lucien's POV
I watched the King carefully.
The moment the name Asriel left my mouth, I waited for some kind of reaction.
Shock. Recognition. Anger.
Anything.
But there was nothing.
To my surprise, his face remained completely still. His expression, his eyes—everything was blank.
Then slowly his lips moved.
"Who?" he asked.
"Who is Asriel?"
My heart dropped straight to my stomach.
No.
No… that couldn't be right.
There was no way he didn't know Asriel.
Of course he did. He knew about Asriel's magic. He knew about the power sealed inside that artifact.
He had to.
"Asriel," I repeated, my voice tightening slightly. "The fallen archangel."
But he only stared at me, his expression empty, as if I were speaking nonsense.
"Don't look at me like that," I said, irritation creeping into my voice. "I know you know exactly what I'm talking about."
"You know who he is. And you know what that artifact truly contains."
"His magic."
