Daehyun appeared on the walk back to the vans, coming from a direction that suggested he had been somewhere nearby for most of the afternoon, which was typical of him.
He fell into step beside her.
He looked at her face.
"Good day?" he said.
"Very good day," she said.
He nodded.
He knew the difference between her versions of that answer, which was the thing about Daehyun that she valued most and never said directly.
They walked.
The van was visible ahead, doors already open, members filtering in from different directions.
Then Daehyun touched her arm.
Just once. Lightly.
He tilted his head.
She looked.
Across the street.
Not following them. Not moving in their direction. Just standing still in the way that was its own kind of message, a woman in a cap and an oversized jacket, face angled down toward the pavement.
Soorin looked at her.
The security contact was already looking at her too.
The van doors were open.
She kept walking.
Got in.
Sat down.
