The cafeteria at the Academy served everyone at the same time because the building had one big kitchen and no interest in hierarchy. First-years, second-years, staff, the occasional Wardens at the Academy gate grabbing a meal between shifts - all of them in the same long room with the same alluminium trays and the same overhead lights that shone with a light Esen claimed was deliberately chosen to suppress joy.
