Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Iron Tree Blooms After Ten Thousand Years

It was the first time Leo Ford heard Caleb Lockwood say the words "interesting."

In his impression, ever since he met Caleb Lockwood, he's always been cold and aloof.

Some people might call it "pretentious," but Caleb Lockwood is not pretending.

Everyone who knows him understands that he's just a peculiar guy.

On the other side, Hugo Yates and his girlfriend were having a fierce fight, the girl naturally suffering more than the guy, Brandy Quinn tossed a stick to the woman.

The woman picked up the stick and immediately started hitting Hugo Yates with it.

Hugo Yates yelled in pain, dodging while cursing.

Serena Sutton gave Brandy Quinn a thumbs up, happily recording video. That's how it should be; just cursing out a scumbag won't cut it, he needs to learn his lesson.

Hugo Yates seemed stunned by the beating and was also getting desperate, he picked up a bottle from the table.

Viciously, he smashed the bottle with a "smack."

The shattered glass flew in all directions, and Serena Sutton didn't have time to duck. A small piece of glass hit her forehead, cutting it open, and blood immediately started flowing.

"Ouch," Serena Sutton quickly stepped back, covering her forehead, her face contorted in pain.

"Serena, are you okay?" Brandy Quinn rushed over to check her wound, "Let me see where you got hurt."

Not far away, Caleb Lockwood saw what happened, furrowed his brow, and suddenly stood up, "Leo, get the first aid kit."

Boss Ford looked confused, what the hell! Why should he get it? They were wrecking his venue, and now he had to give them a first aid kit?

"Wait, are you seriously going to interfere? Aren't you..." Leo Ford hadn't finished speaking when he saw Caleb Lockwood walking towards the two girls, clearly ignoring him.

"Damn!" Leo Ford quietly cursed, and although reluctant, he turned to get the first aid kit.

Serena Sutton didn't want Brandy Quinn to worry, and it was just a minor injury: "I'm fine, just a little cut. I'll put on a band-aid in a bit..." Her voice stopped abruptly because she saw Caleb Lockwood.

The man wore a white shirt, buttoned meticulously, black trousers, long legs, his fair handsome face expressionless. At this moment, he seemed abstinent and aloof.

Serena Sutton looked directly at the man in front of her, Caleb, Caleb Lockwood? What was he doing here? Her cheeks turned red, she dared not look directly at him, her eyes flickering.

Suddenly, she belatedly reacted and quickly lowered her head. Looking like this, and Caleb Lockwood saw her... it was so embarrassing! Why was she so unlucky today to run into Caleb Lockwood here?

At this moment, Serena Sutton was so nervous her mind was in a turmoil, just trying to keep her head down. She thought, anyway, he doesn't know her. He'll just watch briefly and then leave, right?

Who would have thought...

A clearly defined hand gently placed on her head, warm fingertips touched her forehead, deliberately avoiding the wound. With slight pressure, her head was tilted back a bit.

Serena Sutton's mind was blank.

She moved her lips, wanting to speak, but heard Caleb Lockwood say, "I'm a doctor."

His voice was clear and gentle, perhaps because they weren't in a hospital, Serena Sutton suddenly felt his gaze was somewhat soft. Not as cold and indifferent as in the hospital.

She knew he was a doctor, just didn't expect him to take the initiative. Presumably, doctors have compassionate hearts or maybe it's a professional habit—they can't stand seeing others bleed or sick.

Caleb Lockwood looked at her wound and said in a flat tone, "Come here."

"What for?" Serena Sutton asked instinctively, her voice soft, eyes moist.

"To treat the wound." Caleb Lockwood, not very good with words, naturally aloof, just glanced at her once, then stepped towards where he had been sitting.

Leo Ford had already brought out the first aid kit and placed it on the table. He watched Caleb Lockwood and Serena Sutton, clicking his tongue, quite interesting.

Has the iron tree finally blossomed?

Serena Sutton looked at Caleb Lockwood's back, as if by instinct, she followed him.

Brandy Quinn stood there, blinked, what was going on here?

Caleb Lockwood opened the first aid kit, took out alcohol swabs and a piece of gauze, and motioned for Serena Sutton to sit down.

Serena Sutton was particularly obedient at the moment, sitting on a nearby chair. The wound on her forehead was no longer bleeding, just needed some cleaning up.

Caleb Lockwood opened a swab, dipped it in alcohol, bent over, and expertly attended to her wound.

The alcohol stung the wound, Serena Sutton winced in pain, but gritted her teeth, not making a sound.

Caleb Lockwood saw her reaction and couldn't help but lighten his movements.

Serena Sutton looked up at the man close to her, his hands were pale, fingers long and well-articulated, lips slightly pursed, looking focused and serious. His handsome face flawless. She shifted her gaze and clearly saw his sexy Adam's apple.

Caleb Lockwood. Serena Sutton once again softly called the man's name in her mind.

She stared unblinkingly, suddenly feeling like laughing a bit. He was helping her treat her wound, and she was watching him.

"All done." The man's cool voice came, pulling Serena Sutton back to reality.

She quickly stood up, nodded to Caleb Lockwood, "Thank you."

Caleb Lockwood looked at her with his dark eyes, her face a rosy hue, eyes looking moist, appearing very well-behaved.

He looked away, returning to his usual self, said nonchalantly, "You're welcome."

Serena Sutton suddenly felt the atmosphere a little awkward, she didn't know what to say other than thank you.

Her cheeks were burning, her mind was a mess; no wonder people used to say beauty is distracting.

Four words perfectly represented Caleb Lockwood to her.

"Well... good, goodbye." Serena Sutton played the role of a timid coward and deserter with perfect accuracy, grabbed the nearby Brandy Quinn, who was in on the drama, and turned to leave.

Brandy Quinn turned, waved to Caleb Lockwood.

Caleb Lockwood stood there, the light hit his pale face, he slightly furrowed his brows, expression a bit cold.

Scared of him? She asked him for directions last time too.

He lowered his gaze, looking at the trace of blood on his fingertip, a little glaring—it was from earlier, accidentally touched, her blood.

Leo Ford finished dealing with Hugo Yates and the others, but when he came over, he didn't see the two girls; only Caleb Lockwood remained standing there.

"The sun must have risen from the west, you actually went out of your way to help someone, tsk—you're interested in that little girl aren't you?"

Hearing Leo Ford's teasing words, Caleb Lockwood didn't respond. After a pause, his thin lips slightly parted, "Leo, do I seem frightening?"

Boss Ford: "..." Such a random question, definitely Caleb Lockwood's style.

"Not really." Although he has an unusual disposition, at least he isn't scary.

Caleb Lockwood listened to his answer, turned and walked towards the washroom.

Not scary is good.
