Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: WeChat

On Tuesday morning, Serena Sutton only had two classes, and after class, she went straight to the hospital.

As someone with a poor sense of direction, she had to ask two people to find the eighth clinic of the surgery department, which was Caleb Lockwood's clinic office.

Northwood City Central Hospital can be said to be the best hospital in the province, so every day there are many people registering and queuing. Serena sat in the waiting area outside, looking around, most of the patients were elderly, holding CT scans. Or they had bandages on their heads, looking like they had undergone surgery or suffered serious injuries.

Serena instinctively touched her forehead, she had removed the previous bandage and put on a band-aid. Suddenly, she felt a sense of guilt, as if she was wasting public resources.

However, on second thought, this was for her lifelong happiness, it wasn't really a waste of resources.

Soon, it was Serena's turn. She walked to the door of the eighth clinic, not paying much attention to the sign beside the door frame, and directly pushed the door open and went in.

However, when she saw the person sitting inside, she was a bit stunned.

"Why is it you?" Serena looked at her phone, it said Caleb Lockwood, so why was it someone else?

Dr. Silas Shaw picked up the cup on the table, took a sip of water, only to find the girl in front of him somewhat familiar. He raised his eyebrows and jokingly asked, "Why not me?"

Serena put the phone in front of him and said pitifully, "Didn't I register to see Caleb Lockwood? Why has it changed to someone else?"

Hearing the young girl say this, Silas glanced at her phone screen. His eyesight moved to Serena, squinting slightly, he finally remembered.

"You're the girl who wanted to pursue Caleb Lockwood a few days ago?" Unexpectedly, this young girl even chased him to the clinic, she truly had perseverance.

Serena admitted openly, sitting on the chair in front of Silas, "Yes, so where is he?"

Silas moved the mouse, input Caleb Lockwood's clinic number and password, stared at the computer screen, and said, "I swapped schedules with him, he went to Southwark for a meeting. You registered on Sunday, right? Back then, we hadn't swapped yet. So, where do you feel unwell? Don't worry, my consultation fee is the same as his, except I'm not as handsome or rich as him, the differences aren't much."

Serena pouted, muttering, "That's quite a big difference."

Silas chuckled, and looked at the basic information on the computer again, "Serena Sutton, 21 years old. Have you graduated from college?"

"No." Serena's tone was listless, emotionally downcast, looking like a frost-beaten eggplant.

Silas naturally knew why she was feeling down, although he wanted to gossip, it was working hours and there were still several patients waiting outside.

"So, tell me, where are you feeling unwell?"

Serena pointed to her forehead, then carefully peeled off the band-aid on her forehead, "Here, there's a small wound."

While saying this, Serena felt a bit embarrassed herself because it was nothing at all. And it had already healed, if not for Caleb Lockwood, she wouldn't have come to the hospital, nor even put on a band-aid.

Silas looked closely, it was a wound about a centimeter long, already scabbed over.

Seeing this, he suddenly recalled a line from a joke online: luckily you came in time, if you were a few minutes later, the wound would have healed.

"Is this really the only thing bothering you?" Silas suppressed his laughter, patiently asking.

This girl was indeed interesting, coming to the clinic for such a small wound.

Serena stood up, pouting, "I'm perfectly fine, I won't delay you anymore, goodbye." Since Caleb wasn't there, it was pointless to stay. Looks like today was a wasted trip.

Watching her back, Silas leaned back in his chair, chuckled softly, and said slowly, "Do you want his WeChat ID?"

Serena stopped in her tracks, her gloominess vanishing in an instant, and her lips curled up uncontrollably as she turned to Silas, "Can I?"

Silas picked up his phone and recited, "His WeChat ID is his phone number, jot it down. 158********, but don't tell him I gave it to you, okay?"

"That guy has quite a quirky temper. Be careful."

Serena memorized Caleb Lockwood's phone number, smiling with joy, she wasn't afraid of his temper. She was now like Caleb's brainless fan, accepting him no matter how he was.

"Thank you." The young girl left with her phone, visibly more light-footed.

Silas sat back in his chair, picked up the pen on the desk, and twirled it skillfully. He genuinely wanted to see what Caleb Lockwood would be like in love. That guy never seemed to have anything he particularly liked.

Who knows what he'll be like if he likes someone.

Ah, no need to think, it'll definitely be interesting.

Serena walked out of the clinic, turned around, and looked at the sign on the wall.

Neurosurgery Associate Chief Physician, Silas Shaw.

Unexpectedly, Dr. Shaw was quite helpful, although she didn't see Caleb today, it was still a big gain.

Back at the dormitory, Serena immediately added Caleb Lockwood on WeChat. Then she waited, occasionally checking her phone, but by evening, she still hadn't received a friend request approval notification.

Caleb Lockwood returned home from Southwark, it was already 8 PM.

He heated up a bottle of milk, poured it into a glass, sat at the computer desk, ready to turn on the computer, but then seemed to remember something. He took out his phone and unlocked it.

He opened WeChat to check the group messages.

His WeChat didn't have message alerts on, he could only see messages if he opened the app. He didn't use WeChat often, but since many work notifications were sent in groups, he checked WeChat every night for message notifications.

There weren't any important notifications in the group chat, just some chatting going on.

Caleb was not interested, planning to exit WeChat, but then saw a red '1' in the contacts list.

He clicked in and saw a friend request. "You have a friend request from 'Serena the Get-Rich Aspiration'."

Beneath this request, there were many expired friend requests.

He frowned, didn't recognize it.

So again, Caleb didn't click approve, and exited WeChat directly. He turned on the computer to continue writing the unfinished paper.

Serena lay in bed, holding her phone, staring at Caleb Lockwood's WeChat avatar, or rather, he hadn't set an avatar, so it was just the default icon.

She was a bit frustrated, why hadn't he accepted? Did he not see it?

Serena rolled around on the bed anxiously, there were no classes tomorrow morning, should she go to the hospital again?

Even just seeing him for a moment would be great.
