Chapter 3 - Future Sight!?

"It is a shame that I cannot go all out," the red-haired man said, "but I am curious to see your powers."

"Naruto," Kurama's voice beckoned inside Naruto's head, "something is not right about this person, I sense an otherworldly presence."

"Don't matter, we got this," Naruto reassured Kurama, "besides wild boar or not, it is a good thing that it is I who ran into this stranger, who else is more equipped to take on an unknown threat like this and provide a report back to Kakashi sensei."

He looked at the stranger and said, "I'll show you my strength alright." He powered up, sending out a blinding orange flash of light.

"Impressive," the stranger said, "a concentrated ball of Haki, Conqueror's at that, and it is strong and so dense that it is visible, spinning violently, and it's blue, a direct hit from that could get me in trouble."

"What's he talking about?" Naruto asked Kurama inside his head, "Haki, what now?"

"Caution Naruto," Kurama said, thinking as quickly as possible for a fox, "he might be seeing into the future."

"Doesn't mean he can stop me," Naruto said as he conjured up a Rasengan in all its glory, then leaped at high speed towards the stranger.

The stranger quickly performed a slash with his sword seemingly into nowhere, sending a shockwave that destroyed a few trees in its path. These trees were not far from the battlefield itself. All this happened in a millisecond, and he used the next millisecond to dodge Naruto's oncoming Rasengan, jumping out of the way while still managing to land a kick on his back, sending him flying, Rasengan still intact. Naruto landed on the ground and dispersed the Rasengan since it had missed the intended target. He got to his feet, feeling the sharp ache in his back from the kick.

"Naruto," the fox said.

"Yeah, he's a tough one," Naruto replied, "and extremely fast."

"He foresaw the Rasengan, described it perfectly before you even used it," Kurama went on, "he also spotted the clone you created during your power-up when you blinded him with the orange flash."

"He also knew exactly where the clone was hiding and took it out" Naruto said, perplexed, "before I even reached him with my Rasengan."

"Does the pain I cause your clones come back to you?" the stranger asked, "I had no choice anyhow. Your direct attack was bait. After I dodged it and got you out of the way, I would not have had time to deal with a surprise attack from the clone hidden in those trees. It got me, or it would have got me."

"He says things like it already happened," Kurama noted, "or at least he saw it happening."

"From what I gather," Naruto replied to the fox, "it is safe to say he can in fact see into the future."

Having received no answer for his previous question, the stranger went on, "I also noticed, you are not quite just you, are you? There's more than one in there. You remind me of the person who gave me this scar," he pointed to his left eye, where three claw marks were etched in, "although you are much more noble at heart than he would ever be."

"Great, he can even sense your presence Kurama," Naruto said inwardly, keeping his eyes on the stranger without giving a real response, "we need to come up with a plan to beat him."
