Of course.
Wanda and Quicksilver's relationship with Magneto wasn't exactly good; otherwise, they would have joined the Brotherhood of Mutants instead of the Ultimate Team.
But no matter what, blood is thicker than water.
If Wanda were truly assassinated, Magneto would definitely unleash a storm of blood and fury.
That was a consequence even Nick Fury was unwilling to bear.
There were very few people in this world who truly made Nick Fury wary, but Magneto was undoubtedly one of them.
"Who did it?"
Nick Fury immediately started grilling Ultimate Tony, "Was it Hank?"
The words had barely left his mouth before Egghead realized it definitely wasn't Hank.
Otherwise, why would Stark suggest he bring Hank back into the Ultimate Team?
Besides, Hank had no reason to do such a thing.
"It wasn't anyone. It was Ultron himself."
Ultimate Tony explained to Egghead, "Ultron has already developed self-awareness and emotions. He doesn't need anyone to give him orders; he has his own autonomy!"
*Ah, this!*
*Developed self-awareness and emotions?*
Egghead truly hadn't expected things to turn out this way.
To be honest, when Hank offered him the Ultron robot, Nick Fury hadn't been interested in the slightest.
Without a moment's hesitation, he had flatly rejected Hank's offer. Even when Hank offered the robot for free, not asking Egghead for a single cent.
That was why Nick Fury was so astonished now. It seemed the robot he had once dismissed was far from useless.
But beyond that, another revelation left Nick Fury even more stunned.
"So you're saying Ultron decided to kill Wanda on his own?" Egghead asked, incredulous.
*Did Ultron have a grudge against Wanda?*
*And did Hank even know about this?*
"That's all I can tell you," Ultimate Tony replied, refusing to elaborate further.
The truth behind the matter was simply too melodramatic, too mind-shattering to be believable. Who would ever buy the idea that it all boiled down to a cliché love triangle?
Besides, Ultimate Tony wanted to spare Wanda and Quicksilver some dignity.
"What I *can* tell you is that the consequences were catastrophic. Magneto flipped Earth's magnetic poles because of it."
"Countless people died worldwide!"
"It was a global disaster, and Ultron was the spark that lit the fuse!"
"So Nick, you need to take this seriously."
But Ultimate Tony immediately followed up by telling Nick Fury other equally bombshell-level pieces of information.
This left Nick Fury once again stunned.
Of course, he was also deeply confused. The things Stark was saying had not happened yet, but Stark was absolutely certain they *would* happen.
How could Stark be so sure about the future?
"Stark, are you telling me you know what's going to happen in the future?"
Egghead's brow furrowed slightly as he asked Ultimate Tony, his gaze uncertain.
*How does this sound so absurd?*
"That's right. I do know. That's exactly how it is."
But Ultimate Tony gave a very definite reply. "Otherwise, how could I possess so much information that you don't? Please, you're the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., not me!"
"Are you serious?" Egghead confirmed with Ultimate Tony again and again.
"What do you think?"
"How did you do it? Some kind of crazy invention that can predict the future?" Nick Fury immediately pressed.
And regarding the matter of Ultimate Tony being able to foresee the future, after confirming it, Nick Fury ultimately chose to believe.
For ordinary people, this matter was indeed hard to accept, and would most likely be considered nonsense.
Who was Egghead?
The Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.!
He himself was a Super Soldier who predated even Captain America, having encountered countless supernatural events.
Need not mention anything else, just look at the Pegasus Base of S.H.I.E.L.D. alone. He had no idea how many strange things were stored there.
They were all wondrous items with special abilities that the entire S.H.I.E.L.D. could not analyze.
Some items even had effects more mystical than predicting the future.
Therefore, in Egghead's place, the acceptance of Ultimate Tony's words was not low.
Although his usual caution and suspicion made it impossible for him to completely believe Ultimate Tony.
But analyzing it rationally, Egghead still felt that Ultimate Tony's words were worth considering seriously.
"No, it's not my invention."
"It's just a magical thing I happened to obtain."
Ultimate Tony's voice continued to sound, interrupting Nick Fury's words.
Nick Fury pondered for a moment, then continued to stare at Ultimate Tony and asked: "So, besides Ultron killing Wanda and causing Magneto's mad revenge, what else did that 'magical thing' tell you?"
"This is exactly what I am about to tell you."
Ultimate Tony's expression also began to turn serious, "About Galactus."
Galactus!
Nick Fury's eyebrows shot up.
The critical intelligence he had obtained from Vision was easily the most significant he had ever encountered in his life.
After all, Vision had been crystal clear: Galactus fed on planets, and he had already devoured countless worlds.
Now, this super-villain had set his sights on Earth.
Worse, Vision's ship had malfunctioned, delaying Earth's warning by nearly a century. They were completely unprepared.
And Galactus was arriving soon—less than a year away.
At most, they had a few months.
To be honest, Nick Fury was utterly exasperated. This wasn't just a short timeframe; it was outrageously short. It was practically no time at all.
What could they possibly accomplish in just a few months?
Defeat a planet-eating cosmic entity?
Nick Fury felt his confidence plummet.
Not to mention, Vision was still lying there, incapacitated. There was no telling how long it would take to repair him.
Nick Fury was far from calm.
Hearing that Ultimate Tony had information on this, he felt a surge of hope. "Do you know how to solve this problem? Don't keep me in suspense."
"I only know the general direction."
Ultimate Tony shared the spoilers from the diary with Nick Fury. "There are two key figures. I think you can guess who they are without me saying it: Professor X and Reed."
"And then?"
"Professor X can establish a psychic link with Galactus, and Reed can build a superweapon."
"The two of them joined forces and drove Galactus away."
Nick Fury sank into deep thought.
Although Ultimate Tony hadn't revealed any more details, this was still crucial information for Egghead.
He nodded. "I'll go contact Charles and Reed."
"I'm sure you will," Ultimate Tony replied.
He then greeted Egghead and joined the research center Egghead had formed to work on Vision. After all, Vision was a mechanical lifeform, and that was close enough to a robot, wasn't it? As the creator of the Iron Armor, Ultimate Tony was bound to be of some help.
As for Nick Fury?
He immediately contacted Hank.
"Hank, come to Three-Feathered Mansion."
"I'm not one to ignore old ties. Perhaps it's time for you to return to the Ultimate Team."
When Egghead relayed this message to Hank, it left him absolutely thrilled.
He quickly wrapped up his own business and met with Nick Fury.
After a brief discussion, the two reached an agreement. Nick Fury would pull the strings to bring Hank back into the Ultimate Team. In exchange, Hank had to hand over Ultron and all related technical data to Egghead—including the Ultron robot he had already built.
"No problem!"
"Thanks for giving me this chance, Nick!"
"I promise there won't be any more awkward situations like before."
Far from feeling like Nick Fury was taking advantage of him, Hank was beyond ecstatic. After all, he had always planned to use these things to suck up to Egghead, who had completely ignored him the last time. Now that he had finally caught Nick Fury's eye, Hank was just happy to be back in the game.
Nick Fury kept his word. He soon notified the rest of the Ultimate Team: Giant-Man was back.
Although the domestic violence incident from before had made things awkward for Hank within the team, so much time had passed that no one said anything.
The only ones who felt awkward were Wasp and Captain America. After all, Janet hadn't divorced Hank yet, but she had been dating Captain America all this time. And even then, Janet had started to find Captain America too controlling, so she went back to Hank, keeping their relationship tangled and unresolved.
And of course, Captain America found out!
So the relationship between these three was a tangled mess.
Fortunately, after Nick Fury brought Hank back in, he quickly assigned him to a research team to fix Vision. This avoided any awkwardness for everyone.
So what about Ultron?
Although Egghead had received a warning from Ultimate Tony, he didn't follow his advice to destroy Ultron. Instead, he secretly began researching him.
Egghead was quite interested in an intelligent program that had developed emotions. He just became more cautious, implementing high-level security measures to prevent Ultron from causing trouble.
If Ultron showed any sign of malfunction, Egghead would destroy him without hesitation. After all, Ultimate Tony's warning had been too terrifying for Nick Fury to take lightly.
"S.H.I.E.L.D. took in Hank's Ultron robot?"
"Excellent!"
"This situation is even better than I anticipated!"
No one knew that when Doctor Doom heard the news, a smug smile spread across his face beneath his mask.
That useless fool Hank really thought he'd created the Ultron robot himself?
How laughable.
That fool thought he had developed Ultron himself, but in reality, Doctor Doom had "delivered" it right into his hands!
That was why Ultron fell for Wanda the moment she teased him, and why that love turned to hate, leading him to kill her.
All of this was being orchestrated by Doctor Doom from the shadows.
After all, Ultron was *his* creation.
With Hank being kicked out of the Ultimate Team, Doctor Doom would have had to put in a lot of effort to get Ultron to eliminate Wanda.
But now, things were much easier!
Doctor Doom couldn't be more pleased with himself.
However, he soon realized he had celebrated too early.
While Nick Fury had indeed taken in Ultron, he had no way of using him.
For one thing, Ultron was strapped to an experimental table, completely immobilized.
Even Ultron's research center was fortified with layer upon layer of security, making it impossible for him to break out.
Doctor Doom was beyond frustrated. He couldn't understand it.
*Is Nick Fury out of his mind?*
*What's the point of all this exaggerated security?*
*Looking at that old bastard, it seems he never intended to use Ultron at all—he was just treating him like a lab rat.*
*Even so, isn't this security level absurdly overkill?*
Doctor Doom had no choice but to wait in the shadows for another opportunity and devise a new plan.
Of course, Nick Fury was completely oblivious to all of this.
His intelligence on this matter came from Ultimate Tony, who himself wasn't entirely sure of the details. How could Egghead possibly know?
Besides, Egghead's mind was currently consumed by Vision—or rather, by Galactus. He had no time to spare for anything else.
It's worth mentioning that Nick Fury had already reached out to Professor X and Mister Fantastic.
As for Professor X, it went without saying. With his benevolent nature, he couldn't refuse. He immediately pledged his support, stating that if he were truly needed, he would do his duty without hesitation. However, he knew absolutely nothing about Galactus.
Reed, on the other hand, had a much more substantial lead.
"I've actually stumbled upon a rather interesting problem—or rather, a paradox—recently," Reed said. "I wonder if you've ever heard of the Drake Equation."
"Alright, let's set the equation aside. The point is, based on its calculations, we can draw one conclusion."
"There are over ten thousand alien civilizations in the universe!"
"So, isn't that strange?"
"Out of all these civilizations, we've only discovered one—the Skrull Civilization—and they just happen to be our enemies! We only made contact with them a year ago."
"The Milky Way's age is far greater than its diameter. Even if aliens traveled at just one-thousandth the speed of light, it would take them only one hundred million years to traverse the galaxy."
"But this timeframe is far shorter than the age of the universe. This creates a paradox. These star systems are much older than Earth, so logically, their biological evolution should be far more advanced than ours."
"But where are they?"
Reed voiced his confusion to Nick Fury, who immediately felt a jolt of recognition.
Reed's theory aligned perfectly with the intelligence Nick Fury possessed.
*Why does it seem like so many alien civilizations don't even exist?*
*Because Galactus destroyed them all, that's why!* (End of Chapter)
