Chapter 270 - Corrupted Superman, Destroying the Entire World, Decapitating Batman!

Clark: "..."

Superman truly didn't know what to say. He couldn't even comprehend why Luthor hated him so much, why he saw him as such a thorn in his side, and why he was so eager to eliminate him. He didn't even know Luthor! Could it be something his future self had done?

Clark naturally had no way of knowing this, but based on the diary, Luthor was indeed a formidable adversary. The Kryptonite was one thing—that didn't bother or anger Clark. Even if Luthor truly discovered his identity and caused him endless headaches, it still wouldn't have truly enraged him.

But Luthor had also kidnapped his mother? That was something Clark could absolutely not tolerate! Martha was his Achilles' heel!

As for Lois Lane? Well, she should have been his Achilles' heel too. But now, due to the butterfly effect caused by Zhou Cheng's transmigration, that had changed. Clark hadn't even met her yet.

"Looks like Father was right."

Clark's sigh hung in the air as he unconsciously thought of his father, Jonathan.

For the longest time, Clark had thought Jonathan was overly cautious, even paranoid, always worrying about things that never happened.

But now, it seemed his father's fears had indeed come true!

And even worse!

For Clark, this was undoubtedly a massive lesson, a bloody example.

It filled his heart with a deep sense of vigilance.

Of course, his desire to help others remained unshaken. It was in his nature, something he couldn't change.

Clark simply reflected deeply within himself, resolving to be more careful and cautious in the future, leaving no room for anyone to catch him out.

He would never let anyone discover his true identity!

Then again, if it weren't for Luthor, the Justice League probably wouldn't have been formed at all.

Didn't Batman establish the Justice League precisely because of Luthor's warning?

Of course, there was also Batman's "dream" of the Flash traveling through time.

The future Flash had even told Batman, "Find us"!

Speaking of which, I wonder what that seemingly prophetic dream of Batman's was all about. No matter how you look at it, it wasn't an ordinary dream; it felt like a glimpse of the future.

*And as it happens, Batman also dreamt of Corrupted Superman destroying the world!*

*What's more, it wasn't just a single dream—he dreamt it multiple times!*

"So, the Justice League was actually founded by Batman?"

A smile of keen interest curled at the corners of Clark's lips.

He had always been deeply interested in the backstory of the Justice League.

To be honest, the fact that its founder was Batman truly surprised Clark.

The diary had already stated that Batman was the only ordinary human in the Justice League.

A mere mortal who had established an organization of superpowered beings?

Now *that* was truly fascinating.

It only highlighted Batman's extraordinary nature. Even without knowing the specifics of how it happened, one could easily surmise that it couldn't have been an easy feat.

Not just anyone could have pulled that off.

"Luthor?"

Seeing this name, Clark was even more astonished.

This very Luthor had been the mastermind behind the Batman-Superman War!

He had manipulated both Clark and Batman like puppets, even nearly using Batman to kill him.

And yet, it turned out he had also played a part in the founding of the Justice League?

Had Luthor warned Batman?

Warned him about what, exactly?

Clark naturally couldn't know the answer, but it seemed obvious that Luthor must have warned Batman about something truly extraordinary.

Otherwise, why would Batman have even considered forming a team of superpowered individuals?

When Clark learned that the Justice League's formation was linked to the Flash traveling back in time through spacetime, he couldn't help but secretly marvel.

*Was this really necessary?*

*Even time travel?*

*This was getting a bit out of hand!*

Clark had never imagined that such a complex and thrilling story lay hidden behind the Justice League's formation.

But what had the Flash encountered in the future?

Why would he go to such lengths—traveling back in time—to warn Batman to "find us"?

Whatever it was, it must have been incredibly difficult, monumentally important, and perhaps even something the Flash couldn't handle alone.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have gone to such extreme measures.

Of course, the diary also explicitly stated that the Flash's time travel was merely a "dream" Batman had.

Yet Clark still took it seriously.

After all, Zhou Cheng, the owner of the magical diary, had stated that the dream was indeed no ordinary one, but a projection of the future.

Though Zhou Cheng hadn't spoken with absolute certainty, his position as the owner of the magical diary naturally carried immense weight in Clark's eyes.

Clark naturally took Zhou Cheng's opinion very seriously.

But...

*Superman corrupted?*

Clark's brow furrowed into a knot.

What did "corrupted" mean?

Did it mean he would become a bad person, an outright villain?

Indeed, if he destroyed the world, wouldn't that make him the ultimate villain?

But he could never do such a thing!

No matter what happened, no matter what he endured, he could never destroy the world!

This was utterly absurd!

So this dream must have been just Batman having a dream—no, several dreams, right?

Right?

When you add the visions Cyborg saw when reviving Superman, you can't ignore Batman's dreams anymore.

After all, Cyborg saw the future through the Mother Box!

It also showed Corrupted Superman destroying the world.

Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and other heroes were all dead, and Superman even held Batman's severed head in his hand.

- Superman has completely defected and joined Darkseid.

- Both of them have seen the future of Superman's corruption. This can't just be a coincidence, can it?

*Oh, this!*

Clark froze, unsure how to react.

If Batman had only seen his own corruption in a dream, one might dismiss it as a mere coincidence, just a simple dream.

But for another member of the Justice League to have also seen the future of Superman's corruption?

This could no longer be explained away as a coincidence.

*Where in the world are there so many coincidences?!*

Moreover, Cyborg hadn't just had a dream like Batman; he had seen the future through a Mother Box.

*Wait, a Mother Box?*

According to previous information, this thing should belong to Darkseid and Steppenwolf. How did it end up in the hands of the Justice League?

Given the war between the Justice League and Steppenwolf, it's not surprising that the Mother Box, a clearly vital artifact, would fall into the Justice League's possession.

It's highly likely the Justice League seized it from Steppenwolf and his forces.

As for the purpose of seizing it... judging by the diary's tone, it was to resurrect himself?

*Good heavens.*

*What exactly is this Mother Box? How can it possess such incredible power?*

Resurrecting the dead?

That completely defies the laws of the world, doesn't it?

The diary describes the Mother Box as a device that can send signals into outer space, undoubtedly a high-tech artifact.

Considering that the Mother Box also "fears," it's most likely a highly advanced AI.

Much like his father, Jor-El.

In other words, the Mother Box is a product of the civilization behind Steppenwolf!

Their civilization can not only resurrect individuals but even predict the future!

To predict the future!

What kind of AI could achieve such a feat?

Clark could barely comprehend it.

While this doesn't prove that Steppenwolf's civilization surpasses Krypton's, it undeniably reveals the sheer power and sophistication of his people.

This realization weighed heavily on Clark's heart.

It seemed the group coveting Earth was far from ordinary.

After steadying himself, Clark turned back to the diary, his lips twitching almost uncontrollably.

In that corrupted future, had he slaughtered the entire Justice League?

And even beheaded Batman?

*This is fucking insane.*

*Decapitating people?!*

*What kind of demonic act is this?!*

*Even if I were to kill someone, I'd never resort to such a twisted and barbaric method.*

*That can't be me!*

*Emotionally, Clark refused to believe it, unable to accept it.*

*He, Clark, was simply not that kind of person.*

*But logically, Batman and Cyborg had both independently foreseen this dark future of his. Could that be a coincidence?*

*Clark certainly didn't think so.*

*So he was truly torn, unable to make sense of the situation no matter how he thought about it.*

*Furthermore...*

*The diary also mentioned that his corrupted self had completely defected to Darkseid, and Darkseid, in turn, was the mastermind behind Steppenwolf!*

*So, even though Steppenwolf was defeated in the war against the Justice League and the portal was destroyed...*

*Did Darkseid still manage to come to Earth?*

If that day ever comes, it would be catastrophic for the DCEU.

After all, Superman's power is too immense. He alone could sweep through the entire Justice League.

This has been proven!

When Superman was first resurrected, his mind was still unclear, and he fought the Justice League. Even with Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, and Flash combined, they were no match for him.

Even Flash's lightning-fast speed offered no advantage against Superman.

Batman was even less effective, forced to passively block with Alfred's specially developed gauntlets, which could only hold out for a moment.

If Lois hadn't arrived in time, Superman would have surely shot through him.

On the entire Earth, only Martian Manhunter could truly stand against Superman.

DCEU?

What did that mean?

Clark immediately noticed the "DC" in the abbreviation—wasn't that the codename for their universe, or perhaps their dimension?

But what about the "EU" part?

Clark pondered for a long time but couldn't figure it out.

Yet, based on the context of the diary, it was clear that "DCEU" referred to his own universe.

So, was "DC" just an abbreviation within an abbreviation?

And DCEU was the full name?

"Never mind, I'll ask Tony and the others later."

Clark shook his head and made that decision.

After all, this was the kind of question he couldn't possibly figure out on his own. His only option was to ask his online friends.

So Clark didn't dwell on the matter any further, instead refocusing his attention on the diary.

*Did I fight with the Justice League after being resurrected?*

He had to admit, this was something he never would have expected.

*This suggests that the Mother Box's resurrection wasn't perfect after all. There must be some flaw, even a fatal one.*

*Just look at the changes in myself.*

*I actually tried to kill Batman!*

*How much has my personality changed?*

*Killing someone... that's something Clark would never do!*

*Could this be the "corruption" mentioned in the diary?*

*But that doesn't seem right.*

*After being resurrected, I clearly helped the Justice League defeat Steppenwolf!*

*And I destroyed the portal, preventing Darkseid from invading Earth.*

*Where was my corruption then?*

*That happened after Darkseid arrived.*

*So it wasn't that time.*

The diary entry about him nearly killing Batman must have been that time.

After all this, was this the truth?

No wonder, no wonder he would kill Batman. It turned out his resurrection had gone wrong, clouding his mind and causing him to do something completely out of character.

Now it all made sense.

Clark finally understood everything about the "Superman killed Batman" incident.

"Martian Manhunter."

That name immediately caught Clark's attention.

Since he was called "Martian" Manhunter, could this guy be an alien from Mars?

*Wow, there are aliens on Mars too?*

Clark had never considered this before.

After all, among all the celestial bodies, Mars was quite well-known on Earth, with numerous movies and stories set there.

As an alien himself, Clark had long known that Earth wasn't alone in the universe and that intelligent life wasn't unique to it.

But he had never imagined that there were aliens on Mars.
