Chapter 35 - An Announcement for the Fourth Floor

Chapter :35

Yaram turned toward Ms. Selena and gave a determined nod.

"Let's do the announcement for the fourth floor now."

"Okay, let's go," Yaram replied enthusiastically, trying to sound confident despite the fear weighing heavily on his heart.

Ms. Selena stepped in front of the broadcasting microphone. Taking a slow, steady breath, she closed her eyes for a brief moment before pressing the transmission button.

A sharp beep echoed through the speakers.

Her voice immediately spread across every hallway, staircase, classroom, laboratory, office, and every silent corner of the enormous school.

But only the fortunate few—those who had not yet fallen victim to the Z-Virus—could understand her words.

The infected heard something entirely different.

Throughout the school, blood-covered zombies staggered through the corridors with twisted bodies and lifeless eyes. Some dragged their feet across the floor, leaving dark crimson smears behind them. Others let out low, guttural growls that echoed eerily through the empty hallways. The moment Ms. Selena's voice poured from the loudspeakers, countless heads snapped toward the ceiling speakers.

Unable to understand the message, they were simply drawn toward the sound.

Slowly...

One after another...

The monsters began shuffling toward every speaker broadcasting her voice.

Meanwhile, on the fourth floor, inside a quiet classroom, a frightened boy and a girl froze as the familiar voice echoed through the room.

Their pale faces instantly lit up with hope.

"We... we're not alone..." the girl whispered, her trembling voice barely audible.

Not far away, in another classroom, a lone boy who had been hiding by himself slowly looked up from the corner where he had been sitting. His exhausted eyes widened as he listened carefully, afraid that if he blinked, the voice would disappear.

For the first time since the nightmare had begun, a small spark of hope flickered inside his heart.

At the same time, on the third floor, Hasnain and his four friends listened to the announcement alongside Sana, Afra, and Michael. Every one of them stood in complete silence, absorbing every single word.

Inside the broadcasting room, Ms. Selena straightened her posture before speaking into the microphone with a calm yet firm voice.

"Attention, everyone.

This is Ms. Selena speaking once again.

I am making this announcement to inform all survivors that Mr. Simit, Mary, Jackson, and John have safely arrived here in the broadcasting room after escaping from the last floor.

According to them, the fourth floor is heavily infested with zombies.

As for the third floor, most of the infected appear to be gathered around the Assembly Hall and the Staff Room. Because of this, only a small number of zombies were seen in the other areas. At the moment, we cannot determine whether the overall number of zombies on the third floor is high or low, nor do we know if there are still any survivors trapped there.

There is something extremely important that every survivor must know.

The zombies are attracted to both sound and scent.

That scent can be human blood, sweat, or anything else that allows them to detect your presence. If you have perfume, deodorant, or anything with a strong fragrance, use it to help mask your natural scent.

And there is one more crucial piece of information...

The zombies cannot see."

A brief silence followed.

Even inside the broadcasting room, everyone unconsciously held their breath.

Ms. Selena tightened her grip on the microphone before continuing in a more serious tone.

"Now, this message is specifically for everyone on the fourth floor.

Please listen very carefully.

When the survivors escaped from the last floor, a large number of zombies followed them down. Many of those infected have already moved from the third floor to the second floor.

Because of that, your journey will be far more dangerous.

You must proceed with extreme caution and find a safe way to reach the second floor.

We are waiting for you here.

The current time is 9:30 a.m., and from this moment, your evacuation has officially begun.

I sincerely hope that every survivor on the fourth floor will be able to reach us before twelve o'clock.

No matter what happens...

Stay together.

Support one another.

And never lose hope, even during your darkest moments.

We will be waiting for all of you.

I truly hope we meet again very soon.

This concludes the announcement.

Please wait for my next broadcast."

As Ms. Selena's final words echoed throughout the school, the broadcasting room fell completely silent.

Everyone stared at the microphone without saying a single word.

Some prayed quietly.

Others clenched their fists.

Far away, across the dark hallways filled with death and silence, the surviving students and teachers could only hope that they still had enough courage—and enough luck—to make it to the broadcasting room alive.
