MHGA Chapter 385 – You Don't Want Sayaka to End Up Like That, Either…

"Let go! What the hell do you want me to see?! Let go of me!"

Kyoko Sakura was still trying to struggle, but Homura Akemi had her firmly bound to the chair—even transformed, she couldn't break free.

And it didn't stop there—Homura directly pried Kyoko's eyes open, forcing her to look at the screen in front of her. The whole setup made Kyoko seriously question whether Homura was about to brainwash her or something.

"We're not going that far. We're not brainwashing her,"

Even Kairo Retsu found it a bit excessive and started trying to reason with Homura. "I think Kyoko's pretty reasonable, at least among your Sentai team of five colors—"

"What five-colored team?" Kyoko looked totally baffled. What were they even talking about?

"Either way, she has to see this." Homura was unapologetic. "Once she finishes watching, she'll understand why we had to do this."

"Hmm…" Kairo thought for a second, then asked before hitting play: "You sure about this? This is the fastest way for her to grasp the situation, but… all your stuff with Madoka—she's gonna see it too, y'know?"

"…" Homura paused, then gritted her teeth. "So what if she sees it?! Even Madoka saw it herself! One more person won't make a difference!"

"As long as Madoka ends up safe and happy, that's all that matters!"

Homura's expression grew intense, so much so that it startled Kyoko a bit.

"Alright, rolling it." Kairo didn't argue further. He opened Puella Magi Madoka Magica's TV series and shoved the screen directly in front of Kyoko's face.

Forced to binge-watch the series, Kyoko initially stared blankly at the pink-haired girl named Madoka on the screen… then everything started to unravel. There was Kyubey. Homura. And so much more.

Madoka meeting Homura, meeting Kyubey, encountering Mami Tomoe—and then… Mami's death.

Kyoko's mind went blank. The anime kept fast-forwarding, and soon her own appearance was on the screen.

She saw herself fighting Sayaka Miki, saw herself comforting Sayaka after learning the truth about Soul Gems. And then… after Sayaka fell into despair and transformed into a Witch—she saw herself choosing to follow Sayaka to the end.

By the time the series progressed to Madoka rewriting the universe with her wish—absorbing all Witches into the Law of Cycles—Kyoko had already gone totally blank.

In the restructured world, she saw herself and the others fighting on as magical girls. She saw Sayaka's final moments as a magical girl. Saw Madoka, now the Law of Cycles, come to take her away.

After watching all 12 episodes of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Kyoko sat motionless in her chair for a long time. When she finally came to her senses, she immediately started struggling.

"Let me go!"

Homura frowned. "Even though magical girl bodies are strong, you won't easily break free with that many iron chains binding you."

But she still asked, "What do you want to do?"

"Obviously, I'm taking that idiot Sayaka straight to the hospital to talk to Kamijou Kyousuke!" Kyoko's voice was filled with emotion. "What the hell is this?! She made a wish for his sake and ended up like that… It's real, isn't it?! Sayaka did so much, but he doesn't know a damn thing! How is that fair?!"

She thrashed in the chair, the iron chains clanging from her furious struggling.

"And Mami! How could she die by a Witch like that?! That's not possible… She was—"

Kyoko struggled harder, the chains pulled taut.

"Right now, Sayaka hasn't become a magical girl yet. And Mami hasn't been eaten by a Witch either." Kairo scratched his head and pointed at himself. "So what are you panicking for? Don't you see the guy holding the TV series has already appeared right in front of you?"

"Just calm down. I'll undo the chains, but don't go running off."

Kairo gave her a heads-up, then reached for the chains binding Kyoko. Under her stunned gaze, he peeled them apart like they were tape.

Once the chains fell to the floor, Kyoko flexed her arms—still numb from being tied up—just as a small notebook was held out toward her from Kairo's direction.

"So, before we talk… could you give me an autograph?"

"…Huh?" Two question marks practically popped out of Kyoko's eyes. "Autograph for what? What are you trying to make me sign—some shady underworld contract?!"

"…He probably just wants your autograph. As a fan… I think?" Homura replied with a strange look on her face.

"Cross my heart, I just want to treasure it!" Kairo declared confidently. "Come on! Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a masterpiece! I've loved it forever! Isn't wanting an autograph normal?!"

He muttered as he rambled, "Look, someone like Kazuma—I wouldn't bother asking him for an autograph or anything. His signature's got zero sentimental value. I'd rather throw hands with him, since the guy always looks like he's plotting something behind your back…"

Kyoko watched Kairo babble nonsense in utter confusion, but after a moment of hesitation, she scribbled a rough signature in his notebook.

"Heh heh… one more treasured magical girl autograph added." Kairo carefully tucked the notebook into his backpack, then adopted a serious expression.

"Now that you've seen the future, you understand. But the current future isn't exactly the same anymore. Some things have changed… and I hope you'll join us in making a difference."

"…So it's not just about stopping Walpurgisnacht?" Kyoko asked, still confused.

"Of course not. If it were, I wouldn't even be here." Kairo spread his arms. "So, Kyoko—don't tell me you really want Sayaka to follow the same path as in the original story?"

Kyoko's eyes widened. "Are you threatening me? I don't even know anyone named Sayaka Miki right now!"

"Then why were you freaking out just now?" Kairo grinned like he had her number. "I've even read your character design book. Why else would I use Sayaka to pressure you?"

"Only good people point spears at others to help them." Kairo puffed up proudly. "So, tell me—are you going to help Sayaka or not?"

"I just gave you an autograph! You said you were a fan!"

"An autograph's an autograph! This is how the adult world works!"

In that moment, Kyoko Sakura fully experienced the malice of adulthood.
