MHGA Chapter 333 – The Guiding Sapphire Star
"Why bother with such useless words?"
Upon hearing Kairo Retsu's statement, Altair didn't believe he could truly pose a threat to what she intended to do.
"Weren't you all trying to stop me from the very beginning?"
Altair continued, "I intend to distort this world and liberate it from its constraints. That's why you created this cage that binds the battlefield."
"..."
Kairo Retsu paused briefly, then looked up and asked, "Did you… lift the restrictions on Gore Magala?"
"Tell me—did you deliberately release the Frenzy Virus into this world… for your own ends?" Kairo Retsu stared directly at Altair.
Altair, floating above him, merely replied, "Why would I need to do something like that to change the world?"
"It was I, Altair, who dissolved the barrier between the real world and the world of creation. As long as the story continues like this—like a blazing fire—it shall unfold in all its beauty, and everything shall meet its rightful end!"
She spread her arms, seemingly addressing the invisible audience beyond the screen. "Just like the story that exists in this very moment—what is it founded on? Love? Hatred? Or all the irreconcilable things we cannot yield on? You need only understand this… the world shall one day fall silent in dissonance."
"...I remember now."
Kairo Retsu clenched the Great Sword in his hand. "Back then… when I was watching that story, aside from the endless meetings, there were some parts that felt off."
"The focus of the narrative was uncomfortable."
He slowly raised his sword. "It was because there were too many irrational developments—one of them being you, Altair."
"Oh?"
Altair looked at Kairo, detecting an implication in his words. "And what do you know? Was it Joseph Joestar on your side who dug this up?"
"Sure, let's go with that. In any case, I do know what's happening. But ultimately—!"
Kairo Retsu continued, "No matter your intent, the one who makes others—makes the entire world—pay the price for your ideals is, without question, a monster."
"..."
He paused, then declared, "The Sapphire Star… Since I now stand here under that name, I will fulfill its meaning!"
"And the last of them soared into the sky, becoming the Sapphire Star, hanging above the islands."
(Note: excerpt from "The Tale of the Five Dragons")
Kairo pointed his Great Sword at Altair. "Your name also comes from a star, doesn't it? Altair… the Alpha of Aquila."
"I'll return you to the origin of your story. For your creator… that girl named Setsuna."
As soon as Kairo Retsu uttered that name, Altair's expression turned cold, her face contorted with fury.
In the next moment, several military sabers materialized out of nowhere—piercing through Kairo Retsu's body.
The blades impaled him completely—wounds that would be fatal for any normal person.
"What do you know?"
Altair glared at him. "You think you understand? A man who had nothing to do with her dares to speak on her behalf now?"
"She just wanted a trace of existence in this world, but was only ever attacked and rejected by it… disgusting. Infuriating." Altair's speech quickened, her voice growing emotional. "The detestable gods who created this mess, the so-called creators who spun all these meaningless stories—they're what disgusts me…"
"My only ally merely wanted a tiny place to call her own. It wasn't even a grand wish. But she was met with baseless malice, her existence erased in silence—and even after achieving everything, she was left with nothing in the end."
"All her sorrow and pain meant nothing to the gods of this world, like they had never existed."
"Facing all this—how dare you speak such nauseating words from that mouth of yours!!"
Altair raised her hand—dozens more military sabers appeared in the air and surged toward Kairo Retsu.
Yet even as the storm of blades fell, his expression didn't change. He didn't even look like he intended to dodge.
Naofumi Iwatani was already rushing toward him, transforming his shield into a massive tower shield to block the incoming blade storm.
At the same time, from a nearby rooftop, Tanjiro—wearing his checkered haori—leapt down. He inhaled deeply, then pushed off the edge with explosive force, slicing through the sky.
"Hinokami Kagura."
A technique honed through countless repetitions—Tanjiro's blade technique struck the incoming blades from the sky. As he landed lightly, he came to a stop right in front of Kairo Retsu, shoulder to shoulder with Naofumi.
Tanjiro steadied his breathing, remaining alert for Altair's next strike.
Kairo Retsu placed a hand on Tanjiro's shoulder and stepped out from behind him—still bearing the horrific wounds where the blades had skewered him.
"Because Setsuna wasn't the only one who created with joy and passion."
Step by step, Kairo Retsu moved forward. His hand grabbed one embedded saber after another, pulling them from his body. Blood sprayed from each gaping wound, but Kairo casually tossed the blades aside, as though they meant nothing.
"As living beings, everyone wants to cling to life in this world." His expression remained calm. "Many others… know nothing. They simply want to live here with everything they have. That tenacity must not be ignored."
"And what about Setsuna!?" Altair shouted, eyes locked on Kairo. "What about the malice forced upon her? You hypocrite…!"
"I know!"
Kairo Retsu's voice rang out with steely resolve, cutting Altair off: "Of course I know what she went through!"
"I understand that it was injustice! Why would you think I'd overlook it?"
"That's exactly why I can't accept an ending like this—!!"
He shoved a Max Potion into his mouth, and all his wounds vanished in an instant. He stood ready in a battle stance.
"If the victim isn't saved… and the aggressor isn't punished—who the hell could accept that?! So—"
"Your selfishness along with you! Every desecration of life—are monsters to be hunted by Hunters!"
"Because… we are Hunters."
"In the name of the Sapphire Star that guides the way!"
