MHGA Chapter 339 – Coordinated Hunt

Kairo Retsu's ambush had caught Altair off guard, but she still reacted in time, swinging her saber in a wide arc and unleashing a curtain of blades, slashing horizontally at Kairo's body.

This strike could have cleaved an ordinary person in half—and even with Kairo's incredible physique, the sheer impact behind that blade curtain was enough to send him flying.

However, what Altair hadn't noticed was that, just before he leapt down, Kairo had donned an armor set that resembled a steel fortress.

Clang——————

Altair's strike landed squarely on Kairo's body. Though he wasn't unscathed, the pain he felt wasn't from the surface—it was a deep, internal agony, as if it radiated straight from his organs.

The Immovable Garb had locked Kairo's movements in place, but the full force of the impact still struck him. He could feel it clearly: one more blow like that and he'd die on the spot.

Even so, the Immovable Garb had allowed him to completely negate the shockwave from Altair's attack and charge directly into melee range. His aerial Great Sword charge was fully charged, radiant crimson energy flowing along its edge…

"Right here—!"

Having breached Altair's close-range perimeter, Kairo grinned brazenly and brought his Great Sword down hard on Altair's shoulder.

Altair hadn't expected Kairo to push through her assault and reach her. Caught off guard, she could only raise one of her sabers to block.

Crack…

A sharp metallic crack rang out as the saber Altair used to parry cracked under the blow, and Kairo violently slammed her into the ground with his Great Sword.

"Aerial Denial!!!!!!!!"

The terrifying strength of a Hunter capable of clashing with Elder Dragons was unleashed through the most direct and brutal of weapons—Kairo's Deviljho Great Sword. The Elderseal embedded in the blade temporarily suppressed Altair's Holopsicon.

Altair, stunned and furious, realized that Kairo had actually managed to suppress her powers in such a short burst and was now trying to slam her into the ground.

"Damn it…"

At the same time, she realized Sirius had taken advantage of the opportunity and now aimed her weapon, chanting a passage from the Holopsicon symphony.

"Holopsicon…"

Even though her power was being suppressed by that strange weapon, Altair knew she couldn't afford to let Kairo pin her any longer…

While the Frenzy Virus from the Gore Magala gave her the edge against Sirius, she knew that advantage was razor-thin.

If others joined in or delayed her further, she could lose.

Altair forcibly activated another Holopsicon verse, teleporting out from beneath Kairo's blade. But the Elderseal interference had skewed her coordinates, causing her to reappear only slightly offset…

And in that very instant, a claw shot out and latched onto her shoulder, grabbing her firmly.

Altair snapped her head upward, only to see a figure with a bird-shaped mask leaping down from the same building Kairo had jumped from. Between them, a claw line connected them tightly.

The grapple retracted at high speed, pulling the dual-blade-wielding bird-masked figure rapidly toward her…

Having previously been engaged in subduing Yuuya and the others, Rakuro Hizutome had finally come face-to-face with Altair. As the claw reeled him in, he transformed midair using Demon Mode and spun into a downward strike.

Altair tried to dodge, but the claw locked to her shoulder kept them bound together. In a flash—Rakuro passed right by her.

His twin blades sliced cleanly through Altair's arm. Gravity took over and sent him plummeting—but in the next moment, Altair's arm reattached itself, while Rakuro's own right arm split open at the same place, then completely detached.

"…!" Rakuro's face twisted behind his mask as the searing pain surged through him, flooding his body with adrenaline. But already falling, he had no means to pursue the airborne Altair.

He'd deliberately avoided her vital points—cutting off her arm was meant to force her to use Holopsicon's causal reversal, and in doing so, mirror the injury onto himself without risking fatality.

Regrettable—but Rakuro knew full well that his role, with his current capabilities, was to create openings for his teammates.

In the air, Altair twisted her body mid-flight to narrowly evade the light cannon Sirius had fired toward her.

But before she could retaliate, she suddenly felt a barely perceptible sense of danger pressing in from all directions.

"!"

Realizing it, she immediately activated a Holopsicon verse that revealed hidden phenomena—and saw that her surroundings had somehow become laced with purple thorns stretching between the city's buildings.

The thorns shimmered faintly with ripples resembling the Ripple Energy of the sun.

Joseph Joestar—through his Stand's ability to switch between tangible and intangible states—had already laid a trap no ordinary person could see, trying to ensnare Altair within it.

"She saw through it!"

Joseph cursed from his hiding spot. The fact that Altair had forcibly revealed his Stand meant she had too many abilities. Gripping Hermit Purple, he gave it a sharp tug.

The intricate web he had set up snapped tight all at once, aiming to entangle Altair in its trap.

Having endured one relentless assault after another, Altair was beginning to find this troublesome—especially with Sirius, her near-equal in power, constantly locking on to her.

In the next second, she unleashed a radial burst attack in all directions, shredding Hermit Purple's encirclement. Then, before her barrage had even fully faded, she once again activated a verse of Holopsicon, gathering power—

And locked onto Sirius in the distance as her next target.
