MHGA Chapter 336 – Shagaru

"..."

At that moment, Kazuma stood with his hands behind his back, tears brimming at the corners of his eyes as he gazed up at the sky in front of a funeral home. Aqua stood beside him, still utterly confused as the official staff coordinated with the mortuary.

"Kazuma, Kazuma! What exactly did you drag me all the way here for!?" Aqua still had no idea why Kazuma had brought her.

All she knew was that Kazuma promised to buy her some tasty Bubbly Wine after they finished the errand, so she came along without protest.

"I'm just thinking… what did I do wrong to end up living like this?" Kazuma wept silently. "Fine, I accept this fate."

Very quickly, Kazuma retrieved Setsuna Shimazaki's ashes from the funeral home and hurried off with Aqua in the direction of the Birdcage.

The situation inside the Birdcage was chaotic, and Kazuma figured they needed to pick up the pace.

He already knew from Kairo Retsu's briefing in the guild comms where the true crisis lay.

Because of the impressions projected by the Military Uniform Princess Altair, the Gore Magala was undergoing an incomplete transformation… If this continued, it would undoubtedly become a Chaotic Gore Magala.

No longer able to revert to its Gore Magala form, and having completely lost its qualification to evolve into a Shagaru Magala, the creature's body was filled with the latent power of a Shagaru Magala—power it could no longer contain—leaving it in a constant state of torment and frenzy… In some sense, it was even more dangerous and violent than a Shagaru Magala.

If it had simply remained as a Gore Magala, it wouldn't have been too great a threat.

If it had successfully transformed into a Shagaru Magala, as an Elder Dragon with a homing instinct, it would have returned to its ancestral nesting grounds to begin the next Frenzy Virus cycle—cutting off the root of this world's crisis.

But a Chaotic Gore Magala meant this world now faced a monster that would rampage in agony until death.

Right now, Himmel was attempting a solo assault to destroy the still-evolving Gore Magala, while the rest were focused on dealing with the Military Uniform Princess's faction.

On Altair's side, Blitz had already—just like in the original storyline—been persuaded by the resurrection of his daughter and defected.

Alice had joined the assault on Altair.

Sho, the protagonist corresponding to Yuuya, had also joined the Creation side after realizing the stakes.

The only one still stubbornly holding out was Charon, Celejia's protagonist counterpart, who was piloting his Magic Mech—currently being solo-suppressed by Joseph.

With the "rich" hacking experience Joseph had gained in Night City, he had sent a barrage of Hermit Purple vines into Charon's Magic Mech, locking it down and suppressing him away from the battlefield.

Now, faced with the onslaught from all sides, Altair was completely alone…

High above the Birdcage, Celejia and the others pursued the injured Altair, surrounding her in a whirlwind of explosions.

Though wounded, Altair still managed to maintain a formidable level of suppression against her attackers.

Matsubara Sou watched the live feed of the battle, hesitating. "Should we… release that now?"

"The approval rating… might not be enough," Meteora said with concern. "As a 'replicated setting' of Altair, the approval rate is too low to summon Sirius as an independent character."

"But this is the best chance we'll get," said Matsubara. "Altair is hurt! I don't know how that Hunter managed it… but right now, Sirius might be able to assist the others and finish her off."

He sounded anxious. "If we drag this out any longer, there might be… casualties…"

Matsubara wasn't sure if the death of a Creation counted as a normal casualty.

When a Creation died in this world, not even a corpse remained.

But as their creator… he couldn't stand the thought of seeing his characters wounded or killed in the real world.

"I understand." Aki Kikuchihara nodded, thinking it over before approving Matsubara's proposal. "Meteora—summon Sirius. Now… press the advantage."

"Mm." Meteora nodded and began chanting the incantation to summon Sirius.

At that moment, the battlefield sky was filled with blinding explosions from the aerial combat, while distant buildings echoed with thunderous tremors.

Joseph clicked his tongue, standing atop the downed Magic Mech of Charon, watching the skirmish between the Hunters, Creations, and the Military Uniform Princess unfold from the sidelines.

If this had been during the first nineteen years of his life, Joseph would've never imagined a battle of this magnitude.

But now he'd fought vampires, Pillar Men, and finally ended up crossing into the Gathering Hall to become a savior in other worlds…

Charon, inside his Magic Mech, still struggled to regain control, but with Hermit Purple having completely overridden the system, the machine was completely inert—he couldn't even open the cockpit.

"If it weren't for the range issue of my Stand, I wouldn't have to stay stuck here," Joseph muttered as he continued observing the battle.

But then—

A shudder ran through Joseph, his Stand twitching violently from the mental disturbance, and for a moment, he nearly lost control of the suppression on the Magic Mech.

"!"

Joseph's eyes widened. That sudden jolt… something was off.

It wasn't physical—it came from his Stand. A strange sensation from Hermit Purple.

It was instinct—or perhaps the Stand itself was trying to communicate something to him through that response.

He needed to perform a Spirit Writing.

The Stand's instincts urged Joseph to find something—anything—that could be used for Spirit Writing, so he could analyze the current situation.

Scanning the surroundings, Joseph spotted a laptop inside a nearby room on the upper floor of a building.

He tore off a component from the Magic Mech beneath his feet, smashed through the window glass, and whipped out Hermit Purple to snatch the laptop toward him.

He was lucky—the laptop still powered on. Joseph then extended multiple vines of Hermit Purple and sent them deep into the computer.

The Stand's great power, concealed across infinite fates, revealed the truth to Joseph—as if it were divine revelation.

On the screen of the laptop, a golden dragon crashed into the Spirit Writing.

It soared across the sky.

And beneath that golden dragon's body… was not the world of monsters—

But the glowing lights of a modern society.
