MHGA Chapter 327 – The Anomaly Laios Detected
"!"
Laios suddenly realized something. He quickly opened the Gathering Hub panel and shouted through voice chat, "Joseph! Where are you right now? Are you positioned directly east of Gore Magala?!"
"Huh?"
Joseph's voice came through the voice chat, tinged with disbelief. "How do you know where I am? Can you see me?"
After receiving confirmation, Laios felt that some of his suspicions had just been validated.
"If only I'd made contact with Gore Magala a bit earlier…" Laios muttered with regret but immediately sprang into action to confirm his theory.
Gore Magala's earlier roars had been intimidation roars.
And the targets of its intimidation—were Kairo Retsu, Joseph, and himself.
Laios knew full well his combat capability. Among all those currently trapped inside the Birdcage, there were several individuals far more threatening than him.
That colossal robot resembling a super-sized Gurren, for example, posed far greater threat than him.
Or Himmel—the very Hero who defeated the Demon King—his combat power also vastly surpassed that of Laios, Kairo, or Joseph.
Yet the three of them were the ones Gore Magala had specifically roared at.
There was only one shared trait that could explain it!
Laios leapt down from the skyscraper and ran swiftly toward Gore Magala.
Using his Clutch Claw and Wirebugs, he rushed with full speed in the monster's direction.
At this moment, Gore Magala was pinning down Seregia's mecha with its clawed wings. The purple antennae on its forehead flared up, while its mouth began concentrating a nearly tangible ball of Frenzy Virus—ready to explode and inflict massive damage upon Seregia.
Just then, Laios used a Wirebug swing from a rooftop and launched himself like a projectile straight toward Gore Magala.
Gore Magala, sensing something mid-attack, immediately released Seregia and dodged the human missile—Leos.
It retreated, letting out another deafening roar.
"Thanks!"
Although unsure of what Laios had done, Seregia quickly recovered and began chanting magic to target Altair, who was still performing bombing runs from the sky.
"I knew it!" Laios looked back at the retreating Gore Magala making a threatening display and felt his hunch completely validated.
The reason Gore Magala was wary of them had nothing to do with combat prowess!
It was because… he, Kairo Retsu, and Joseph—were infected by the Frenzy Virus!
Not from this Gore Magala's scale dust—but from eating that Frenzied Great Jaggi roast meat back then! A Frenzied condition they had yet to overcome!
Gore Magala senses space and life around it through the Frenzy Virus.
Those roars had been its response to sensing them.
The Frenzy Virus within their bodies… did not originate from this Gore Magala.
Why had that Frenzy Virus source kept releasing scale dust and re-infecting Sakura's brother?
Why were Gore Magala's traces so sparse, only discovered after extensive investigation?
Why did all four worlds repeatedly show signs of Frenzy Virus outbreaks...?
"Guildmaster!!" Laios, now excited, opened voice chat again and tried urgently to report to Kairo: "Our target this time isn't just Gore Magala! There's also something trying to obstruct Gore Magala's ascen—"
Before Laios could finish, Gore Magala's massive foreleg suddenly struck him.
He was sent flying, his head slamming into a skyscraper's load-bearing column.
The column cracked, and Laios appropriately fell into unconsciousness.
If someone were to tap him lightly, he'd instantly wake up.
Alternatively… if Gore Magala chose to continue attacking him, he might end up sent straight to the Felyne cart…
But instead, Gore Magala flapped its wings and soared high into the sky, diving at high velocity toward Kairo Retsu like a meteor, leaving Laios sprawled unconscious in an empty building—long-term fainted, yet not carted off…
"What? What what what?"
Kairo Retsu wore a completely baffled expression as Laios's voice vanished from the comms mid-sentence.
"What the heck was Laios trying to tell me? Why'd he disappear before finishing?"
He scratched his head, but then noticed Gore Magala in the sky, locking onto him and diving down like a comet.
Its massive bulk slammed down like a falling star, and Kairo instinctively cut the voice chat, braced his Great Sword in front, and prepared to endure Gore Magala's crushing charge.
When the falling dragon rammed him, the impact numbed both his arms and knocked him back. Gore Magala reared back slightly, its mouth glowing—Frenzy scale dust beginning to spew out.
Kairo held his breath, rolled out of the infected zone, and immediately raised his Great Sword.
A violent explosion erupted from the scattered scales.
The shockwave nearly knocked Kairo off his feet—his stamina strained.
Amid such an intense exchange, Kairo had no room to think about whatever Laios was trying to say.
Regardless of what the truth was—this Gore Magala had to be dealt with first.
All these battles inside the Birdcage were being relayed through multiple camera angles to the event venue and live-streamed across numerous platforms.
The exhilarating, cinematic combat drew wide praise online, and "Acceptance Force" was rapidly surging.
"Can we still add settings to them now?!"
Takashi Matsubara—watching Seregia, whom he saw as his own daughter, fighting desperately—anxiously reached for his pen to write more.
But his hand was stopped by someone beside him.
"We've already done everything we could. All we can do now is trust them," said Aki Kikuchihara. "But… Mr. Laios seems to have discovered something. Is there any way to wake him from here?"
"No way—the outside world can't interfere with the inside of the Birdcage. Not unless someone goes in," Meteora explained. "Maybe…"
"…We can notify someone else to go wake him up?"
