No matter where it happens, managing teenage students is always a huge problem—only the heavens know what trouble these wild kids could get into.
The term "middle school syndrome" really fits this age group. Just like Muggle children, once they reach a certain age, they become a headache for magical schools as well. Fighting, forming cliques, substance abuse, and even early pregnancies are all possible—and the stakes are far higher than in Muggle schools, because wizards wield extraordinary magical power.
In potion research, brewing a drug that numbs the mind is not difficult at all. Certain forbidden rituals can produce similar effects. There are even Ministry squads specifically tasked with handling these incidents.
That's why school regulations are so strict. Not only are illegal potions and magical tools confiscated, but even over-the-top playful items are taken away to prevent underage wizards from going astray.
As a side note, the rapid decline of pureblood families is partly due to fertility issues and extravagant spending, but a large portion is simply their own reckless behavior. Generationally inherited recklessness has wiped out entire bloodlines.
But as the saying goes, where there is oppression, there is resistance.
Don't underestimate these kids—their fighting ability is considerable. Filch could attest to that firsthand.
Today, however, due to Allen causing trouble, the school staff was completely diverted. Even prefects who might normally turn a blind eye were pulled out to apprehend the culprits. This left the school's supervision at absolute zero.
Seizing the opportunity, a group of young wizards partied hard over the weekend—but this was only the beginning.
With alcohol and even stronger substances involved, a parade slowly formed outside. Why a parade? No one really knows.
It was a rare chance, and everyone intended to go all out. Professors didn't notice immediately—the daytime chaos had already absorbed all their attention, especially the groundskeepers managing the students directly. They had no time to monitor the outside pandemonium.
Under these conditions, the parade grew quickly as more intoxicated students joined in, forming a sizable procession.
Even Allen's roommates were eager to join, though he managed to stop these reckless few in time.
"You're crazy! You really want to go out there? Today's going to end in disaster!" Allen said, glancing at the stream of wand-light magic flowing outside, his heart sinking—completely oblivious to the fact that he was the root cause of all this chaos.
"No way, they're having fun—I saw the girl I met earlier smiling at me. Let me go!" slurred one of the drunker boys, his tongue thick.
A jet of water shot from Allen's wand, splashing the boy in the face and sobering him up slightly.
With the aid of a few herbal remedies for sobriety, the group regained partial composure. Their faces were grim—watching the parade, they realized how reckless the crowd had become. People were using magic like fireworks, sending dangerous spells dancing above bystanders' heads.
The Hufflepuff prefect soon visited Allen's tent, warning them not to go outside. The professors on duty had already gone to report, and these prefects were tasked with maintaining order.
"You guys aren't even the worst off. Do you know how bad the most out-of-control dorm is? They've all mixed into that group. Merlin's beard, I've been at Hogwarts for years, and I've never seen anything this chaotic. Even the normally well-behaved students are going wild. What's going on today?"
"Didn't any professors try to stop them? Shouldn't it be easy?"
The prefect chuckled bitterly, pulling his hood over his head. "I know that two professors from Beauxbatons tried to intervene, but the students teamed up and knocked them over with magic. The crowd literally stepped over those poor professors. If a few sober students hadn't saved them, who knows if they'd still be standing."
Going this far?
Allen and his friends' jaws dropped. They quickly put away the items on the table—this looked like it was about to escalate into a large-scale incident.
What Allen didn't know was that the prefects' intervention was closely related to him—they had been pretending to be drunk. That afternoon, instead of partying, they had gone to apprehend Allen at the scene.
They had witnessed their professors being overpowered, and even though they weren't aware of all the private agreements, it was clear that the students who beat the professors had faced no punishment. Instead, they were simply warned not to reveal what happened that afternoon.
Could anyone tolerate that? Obviously not.
The students' own professors were weak, and after a few drinks, the prefects couldn't hold back. Seeing normally unpopular professors come to enforce order only fueled their anger. In a fit of rage, the prefects combined their magic to overpower the professors, and opportunistic students joined in. Naturally, the professors were outnumbered and the crowd crushed them.
Allen, of course, was oblivious—and even if he knew, he had no intention of taking the blame.
The Beauxbatons students had brought their professors to be beaten—how could he be polite about it?
For now, the best strategy was to stay put. Although this unprecedented drunken student riot would be regretted later, for now it was best to wait and see.
When Allen learned this, the prefects involved felt a pang of fear amid the raucous crowd—they had just orchestrated what might be the most serious incident in the school's history.
Although still slightly intoxicated, they were now moving much closer together, wary of the consequences of what they had unleashed.
